The Riddle (The Story of Edward Craig)

Augustus Lex

In a seaside cafe near a port in Great Britain, an old man wearing a trench coat is watching the news.

"...the European news, the famous FAIR Tecni-Mec gun manufacturer company has gone under a new CEO, Ms. Berenice Diana H. Alba, the son of the former CEO Mario Eliseo B. Alba. Upon seating in the position, Ms. Alba has already set orders to refine and mass produce their renowned Lincoln luxury shotgun. Ms. Alba is focused on getting the mentioned gun back into the global market and launching it proudly as one the best in its field."

The man takes out his phone, and calls someone on speed dial.

"The first step is finished," he said.
"And so I heard."

"When will I come back, Bertrand?"
"Wait a couple of months in Britain, Augustus. You are a British man, are you not?"
"Hmm."

The man ends the call, and sips his coffee. It was a cold early morning. The skies are blue and calm. He gets up and off to his car, writing a note beside his payment:

The tyrant falls sooner that you think. Sic semper tyrannis,
