Heads and Tails
When Gerard is nineteen, his mother decides that he deserves the best education there is, and flies him off to the greatest art school known to man, known as the Epsilon Eridani College of the Arts. It just so happens to be ten-point-five light years away from Earth, on an otherwise uninhabitable planet orbiting an alien sun called Epsilon Eridani C, host to a human colony with a modified climate. Neighbour to this planet is Epsilon Eridani B, home of humankind's newest ally, the Protogean race.
As Gerard begins to accustom himself to living in the cold and overcrowded human colony, he meets a young musician named Frank, who gradually shows him the beauty of the strange alien planet in the sky, among other things.
