Once Love, Now Destruction

Michelle

I woke up feeling weird, but it was the good kind of weird. I could only feel a slight pain on the back of my head, and I felt something wrapped over my abdomen. It didn’t hurt as much as before, it was only a little sore. I opened my eyes, frightened as I looked around the room. I was in an unfamiliar bed, in an unfamiliar room, in an unfamiliar place.

I threw the duvet off my body, and almost screamed when I was in a black satin nightgown. It was short, only coming up to my mid thigh. And it wasn’t mine.

I jumped out of the bed, not wanting to upset anyone. I looked around the room; it was the most beautiful room I had ever seen. It was elegant, and it looked like it was pulled out of fairytale book.

There was a fireplace burning, giving the room and innocent feel to it. There was a chandelier hanging right in front of the lit fireplace. The main colors I saw were black and white, very simple and plain, but beautiful.

I heard the door shut and a gasp from behind me.

I looked at a woman dressed in a black skirt and a light blue top. She was holding a basket of laundry, and it suddenly hit the floor with a loud bag, and the clothes.

“Michelle?” the woman whispered.

“No, I’m Elizabeth. I’m sorry was this your room? I’m so sorry, let me help you with that,” I rushed over there ignoring the pain in my head. I picked up the clothes and put them in the basket.

I saw Nicole enter the room with a smile on her face, but the smile dropped when she saw the woman gaping at me.

“Amy!” Nicole shouted, “I thought I told you not to work today!”

Amy said nothing.

“Um,” Nicole bit her lip, “I’ll tell you later, I promise.”

Amy looked at me one last time and left the room with the basket full of clothes.

“Nicole, where am I?” I asked her.

“You don’t remember?” she looked hurt.

“I’m sorry, I don’t.”

“So you don’t remember me, Christian, or Amy?”

I shook my head, “Should I?”

“What about Alistair, do you remember the name Alistair?” she said desperately.

I tried, but I didn’t come across any person named Alistair.

I again shook my head no.

She groaned and placed her head in her hands.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered to me, “I thought you were someone else.”

“I’m sorry too,” I really was, I wanted her to find whoever this other person was.

“Could you please tell me where I am?” I asked quietly.

“Cord Castel,” she answered.

“And where is Cord Castel?” I asked nervously.

“Romania.”

No, no, no, no, no, no!

I needed to get home, my stepdad needed me.

“I need to get home,” I told her urgently.

“You can’t,” she sighed sadly.

“Why?”

“Because he will know you have been here, he will know that a human has been here.”

“Your human, I’m human, whoever you are talking about is human,” I was confused.

“You’re wrong Elizabeth. Not everything is human in this world,” she told me and left the room.

I felt tears come to my eyes; I had to get out of here. I needed to get to my stepdad; he couldn’t pay for the bills, food, and water. He was alone and he needed me.

I checked the windows; they were locked, like the door. I sat down and cried, cried for my stepdad, my plants.

My plants. Oh no.

They needed to be watered, they needed to be out in the sun, and I wasn’t there to help them.

I cried until I could not cry another tear.

I sighed as I shut the guest room’s door. I felt sorry for the girl; I brought her here with no information of if she was Michelle or not.

I walked down stairs and saw Amy leaning against the banister with an unreadable expression set upon her face.

“In my defense, I really thought she was Michelle. And I know it was wrong bringing her here, especially today. But I really want Alistair to be happy again, and I want her back,” I told her.

“Nicole, I know you mean well, but what do you think is going through that poor girl’s mind right now? And what is going through her parents head, not knowing where their daughter is?” she scolded me.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized.

“I forgive you, but just know that this is really going to hurt Alistair, and he is already in a bad mood as it is,” she bit her lip, “Maybe… maybe you should stop looking for her, it will just make you more depressed.”

“Amy, Michelle is my best friend. I can’t just give up on her; you know she would do the same for any of us.”

“I know that, but she wouldn’t want us wallowing in misery. She would want us to be happy and move on,” she sighed.

“I’m still not giving up until I find her,” I stated stubbornly.

“Alright, but don’t get your hopes up,” she warned, “Is the girl going to his birthday?”

“Probably, he will go easier on her with a big group of people around them,” I sighed.

“Well, you and her need to get ready, I’ll see you there,” Amy told me and walked down the hall.

I frowned and walked to my room and got ready for Alistair’s birthday party. He was probably going to skulk the whole time, but no one could do anything about that. Alistair is broken beyond repair because of the werewolves.

The werewolves took everything away from us. But we took something that they couldn’t live without, Prince Collin, but he is hardly a prince. He sits alone in his little cell passing back and forth, back and forth. It was pathetic.

I sighed as I curled my blonde hair and placed it in an up-do, and changed into a simple blue dress. I look through my closet and found a black dress and heels for the girl.

I sighed and walked over to the guest room, and knock on the door quietly.

“Elizabeth,” I called and heard her sobbing.

I sighed and unlocked the door and walked inside to see her crumpled on the floor and her frame shaking.

I laid the dress and shoes on the bed and sat on the floor next to Elizabeth.

“It’s going to be okay,” I assured her.

She said nothing but she quickly wiped away her tears and attempted to stop sobbing.

“We're not all that bad, you might even like it here,” I smiled.

“I’m sorry,” she apologized.

“For what?” I was confused.

“I… don’t know,” she responded.

I gave her a small smile, “Let’s get you cleaned up.”
