Tell Me Your Secrets
This story is about loneliness. Sophie Lorenza is 16 years old and has never had a real human friend, except for a girl in second grade who shared her graham crackers. That girl moved to Connecticut.
So when her father ships the 'family' off to New Jersey for a long-term job in advertisement offices, she obviously isn't losing a lot. She's got her dog, and she's got herself. That's all she needs.
It's nearing Christmastime, and Sophie obviously doesn't have much planned. Just to have a 'touching' family dinner of McDonald's with her father, watch a couple of movies, and go to bed. That's her routine for every Christmas. But this year, it's going to go a little differently.
She's getting a new gift this year.
