Don't Ever Lose Hope

Don't Ever Lose Hope- Chapter 2

Meagan’s POV:
I got lost in his big, brown and beautiful eyes. I couldn’t help but stare. I lost my speech; I couldn’t get the words out that I have wanted to say for the last couple of minutes now. Instead, he spoke up for me.
“So, being the smart guy I am, I thought you might need some fresh air seeing as you were in a building full of smoke a second ago, he laughed a little, which is the reason why you are out here in this field of…(he looked around for a moment, trying to gather what was around him. I guess you could say he wasn’t paying that much attention. I didn’t blame him though; I wasn’t either) flowers?” he questioned. This time it was my turn to laugh; his facial expression was priceless. We sat there for a couple of minutes just staring at each other, and to be honest I kind of liked it. I have to admit though, it was kind of awkward. I mean, we just met; and if it wasn’t for him I probably wouldn’t have been alive right now. I looked around at the beautiful scenery that surrounded us, trying to take in what just happened. It occurred so quickly I didn’t have time to react; I guess you could say it was God’s way of saying He wasn’t ready for me to go yet.
“Okay, seriously Meagan, what are you saying? Get a grip on yourself,” I thought to myself. “Has anyone told you that you are absolutely beautiful?” I asked him. Wait? Did I just say that out loud? My cheeks were probably burning red right about now. He started laughing.
“Well, I have gotten that before, but no one has ever asked me like that, I mean you sound so sure of yourself,” he told me with a smile. “By the way, I never got your name. I mean that would be nice to know so I can tell my friends the pretty girl I saved.” All I could do is smile at him; did he just say I was pretty? Wow. I tried to catch my breath; it wasn’t working to well.
“Oh yeah sure, of course,” I said stupidly. “My name is Meagan.” I stated simply. He smiled that beautiful smile of his. “Well Meagan, would you want to come back to my place and meet the rest of my band?” he asked me. Okay, now I was pretty sure I was dreaming. I reached up to touch his face to make sure he was real. He just kind of looked at me weirdly, but then smiled, shrugging it off. All I could do was nod my head, but then my conscious kicked in and told me that I couldn’t as much as I wanted to.
“Wait, I’m sorry I can’t. My best friend is waiting for me at the airport. OH.MY.GOSH. What time is it?!” I asked him frantically searching for my phone. “It’s ten after 6, why? Is there something wrong?” he asked me with a worried expression on his face.
“Well, Nicole is probably flipping out right now. I mean think about it, everyone probably already knows about the plane crash and she, as well as your friends, may think we are dead.” I stated hoping he understood.
“Ohhhh, you do have a point there,” he said helping me up to my feet. Once I stood up I realized he was so much taller than me. It was actually pretty sad.
“So…” I said trying to carry on the conversation. “I never got your name,” I said with a smile, looking up at his gorgeous eyes again.
“I never told you my name, really? I guess I just assumed you already knew who I was, seeing that I am in the best band in the world.”
“You’re in a band?” I asked playing around with him. At this point, he stopped walking and looked at me with a shocked expression. I guess he really didn’t know what to say. I couldn’t help but start laughing, I was laughing so hard I almost fell to the ground. “Umm..I don’t know what’s so funny! You are supposed to know who I am; it’s like a mandatory thing!” He was really cute when he was aggravated.
“Jack Bassam Barakat, I most certainly do know who you are. Now the people that don’t are extremely stupid,” I said with a laugh. He looked at me and then engulfed me in a big bear hug. “Jack, I.can’t.breath.” “Oh, I’m so sorry,” he said quickly pulling away. As I looked up again, I realized we were close to the airport and got so excited I took off running in like I maniac, leaving Jack behind.
“Hey! Wait up!” he called out trying to catch up with me. I turned around, after hugging my best friend to find Jack lying on the floor out of breath. “Wow, really Jack?” I said, starting to laugh. I turned to Nicole, “and this is the person that saved my life.” I said with a smile.
“Wait, Jack Barakat, out of all people, saved your life? I must be dreaming.” Nicole said in shock.
“You are most definitely not dreaming, and I can prove it to you.” I turned around to Jack. “Jack, get your lazy butt up and give Nicole a hug so she won’t think she is dreaming.”
“But do I have too?” he said giving me the puppy dog face. Wow, he’s really good at getting his way. It is not going to work for me though, as much as it saddened me to say no to that adorable face. He got up and wrapped his warm arms around Nicole. She just kind of stood there, still in shock. “Well, are you going to just stand there?” he asked her. I started laughing. I swear, I’ve never laughed this much around one person in a long time. I guess it’s just contagious when you’re around the one and only Jack Barakat.
Jack continued to beg us to come over to his house to meet the others, whom we already knew by heart. We finally agreed and were soon on our way to Mr. Barakat’s house, where Alex, Rian and Zack would be waiting. As Jack pulled up to the driveway, Nicole and I looked at each other knowing that in seconds we would be standing face to face with the band we have been in love with for the longest time.

Alex’s POV:
As a car pulled up to the driveway, Rian, Zack and I all stood up hoping it was the one person we have been worried about for hours. We knew about the plane crash and were praying that our best friend made it out okay. The door opened and we all were relieved when we saw Jack standing in the doorway. I ran to him and gave him the biggest hug. “Jack, you’re okay!” I said, my voice cracking.
“Um yeah, why wouldn’t I be? I’m Jack Barakat for crying out loud! Dude, you are seriously not crying, are you?” I looked up at him, wiping the tears that escaped my eyes quickly off my face. “No, why would you say that?” I said trying to cover up my emotions. I wasn’t really the type of person to get emotional like this so I guess it was weird, even to me, for him to see me crying.
“Why the hell did you not call man?!” Rian exclaimed. “Seriously dude, we were worried sick about you!” Zack said finishing off Rian’s thought.
“Wow, thanks guys. To be honest I really didn’t think you could care less,” he said starting to laugh. “Anyways, I wanted you to meet some friends of mine that I met at the airport. Guys this is Meagan and Nicole.”
I looked over at the two girls who were smiling at all of us. Nicole, as Jack pointed out, caught my eye. There was something about her that I couldn’t quite point out; it felt like I have seen her somewhere before. I shook that thought out of my mind not wanting to let it ruin the evening for us. However, as the evening progressed I couldn’t get her out of my mind. I was determined to have some alone time with her before she left. I wish I would have known how bad of an idea that was going to be.
