‹ Prequel: Story of a Girl

Dates and Memories

Sydney sighed, the date she was on boring her. She knew that the guy only wanted to ask her out because he thought that he’d get easily into her pants.

Most of the models she worked with were like that.

“So do you want to come back to my place?” he asked. She shook her head, “Can’t, sorry. I already have plans.”

Sydney got up and walked out, getting a cab and going back to the apartment. Walking in, Samantha gave her a strange look, “I didn’t think that the date would only be two hours...”

“Well he wasn’t my type, what can I say?” the twin girl sighed, “I’m sorry. I didn’t think he’d be like most of those guys who ask you out.”

Sydney shrugged and then smiled, “You and I are going to go out to a club tonight!” the girl laughed and nodded.

“Okay. Maybe we can find you a guy there.”

Sydney didn’t reply she just walked back into her room. Samantha was always trying to hook her up with someone, and she didn’t know about her past. All that the girl knew was Sydney was from Maryland and that her parents were divorced.

She didn’t know that Sydney was raped, or that her rapist was still awaiting his trial. Sydney felt that that was the old her. The new Sydney wouldn’t smoke pot or just make-out with a guy just to do so. Sydney had met the twins right after she had dyed her hair, and Sydney wasn’t planning on letting the two know about her past.

She wasn’t that Sydney Maxwell anymore.

Once at the club, she and Samantha danced together. Parker had opted out, saying he had a really early shoot in the morning. Sydney just knew it was because he didn’t like going out with the two girls, because he always seemed to be the D.D. And it wasn’t a duty that he really enjoyed.

After a few drinks, and hours of dancing, the two went and sat at the bar for a bit. Sydney looked over and saw V. The green eyed girl made eye contact with the pale eyed girl, and the latter just took her drinks and walked away.

“Did that chick just give you a death glare?” Samantha asked. Sydney shrugged, “I don’t know.”

“I’m going to go talk to her.” Samantha said and then began to walk over to where the black haired girl went. Sydney grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

“Let’s not. It’s no big deal.”

“Yes it is. She doesn’t even know you and is giving you death glares.” Sydney bit her lip. She figured now was as good of a time as any to inform her that she did know her.

“Actually I do know her.” Sydney said in the girls’ ear, “And there’s a whole mess of shit that goes along with that tale that I really don’t want to get into.”

The girl gave Sydney a confused look but nodded. A few hours later they were leaving, and Sydney spied the girl again. She was sitting sideways on Zack’s lap, his arms loosely around her hips, and Sydney saw the rest of the group. Amanda and Kara were also present, and Sydney ducked her head away in hopes that no one else would spot her.

She knew that they would probably stay until closing. Because she knew how they partied. Sydney couldn’t help but wonder how the rest of the girls were. She knew the guys were busy with the band, so she wondered if they still hung out frequently, or if they went to college and what for. She couldn’t help but think about them. She felt bad for what she did, but it wasn’t like she could go back and change it. She wasn’t sure if in good coconscious she even would.

Sydney didn’t regret the fact that she and Alex had sex. She simply regretted that things happened the way they did.

Once she was back at the apartment, Samantha gave Sydney a look and the latter sighed, “I’m guessing you want an explanation?”

She nodded and the duo sat on the couch. Sydney sighed and messed with her hair. “Okay, so you remember how I told you I’m from Maryland?”

“Yeah.” The girl said slowly. Sydney sighed, “Well she used to live there too.”

“Oh and you two weren’t friends?”

Sydney shook her head, “No actually. We were basically the best of friends. But then some shit happened and she hasn’t forgiven me.” Sydney paused, “And I don’t really blame her.”

Samantha nodded, “Okay.” She paused, “Wait, now I know why she looked familiar. She’s a make-up artist, isn’t she?”

Sydney nodded, “Yeah. That’s actually what started the whole thing today.” At the confused look of Samantha, Sydney continued. “She was my make-up artist today. It was the first time I had seen her in years.”

“She’s done mine before. I never would’ve thought that the two of you were friends. She doesn’t seem like the friendliest of people.” Sydney smirked and nodded, “She’s not. Well not at first.”

“Kinda like you?” Samantha asked, and Sydney half smiled, “Yeah. But still different. It’s hard to explain.”

Samantha nodded and then tilted her head, “Well if you were so close how come she won’t forgive you? I mean, if you were really as close then she should forgive you.”

Sydney shook her head, “It’s not that easy with V. She’s a complicated person. And to be honest I wouldn’t want her any other way.”

Samantha nodded and then stretched her arms over her head, “Okay well I’m beat. I have a ten o’clock a.m. shoot tomorrow so I’m going off to bed.”

Sydney sat on the couch for a while longer and got lost in her thoughts.

She thought back to the days that she and V would goof off in her room, when they didn’t have work, while the rest of their group was at school.

“So have you and Zack had sex?” Sydney said nonchalantly. The girls face flushed and she laughed nervously,

“Uh, yeah.” She smiled, “But we’ve been going out for four months.” She paused, “But it’s not like he pressured me or we planned it or anything. It just happened.”

Sydney nodded, “Makes sense. You two are so annoyingly cute. It’s sickening.” The girl joked, and Evangeline rolled her eyes.

“Shaddup. If you would just admit that you and Alex would be a cute couple, and that you like him as more than a friend, all would be okay.”

Sydney rolled her eyes, “And I think you’re delusional.”

“And I think-” she was cut off by her cell going off. She smirked, “Hold that thought for a few hours. I’m going to get inked.” Sydney rolled her eyes. “It’s my first tattoo.”

“And Zack is taking you?” she nodded, “Yep.” Sydney rolled her eyes and the girl left, but not before saying, “Sydney, it’s obvious that you two care about each other. I’m sorry that Daniel did what he did. But Alex isn’t like him.”

“I know.”

“So just give him a chance.”
