He's My Brother's Best Friend and My Enemy, This Can't Be Good!

003

I walked into the theater and took a seat next to Miranda. She was studying her monologue like the good child she was. Parker walked in a few seconds after I. Yes, he had this class with me too, not by choice of coarse.

Ms. Evens walked on stage and began talking, “Today I have decided to start a class project.” Everyone groaned at her words. “There is no whining in drama!” She scolded and went on, “I will pair you up with a partner and you will have two weeks to create, direct, and act in a 3 minute scene. The winners will have the opportunity to perform in the drama show in the winter.”

Great, another thing to stress over, I thought to myself. Knowing my luck I would probably get stuck working with Parker instead of Miranda. He didn’t even try in this class, but its the only way he can earn his art credit to graduate.

“Please listen for your names; Marie Garcia and John Hunt, Ava Winters and Jason Manchaster, Miranda Daniels and Kaden London, Josylne-Grace Emmerce and Parker Daniels...”

Got damn it! Not only did she just say my whole name she also paired me with ‘Mr. I’m too cool for this.”

“Hey,” Parker said dropping his bag and sitting next to me.

“Hi,” I said irritated. “What do you want to write this play about?”

“Don’t know, and don’t care,” He said and then began to talk to some guy in the row in front of us.

I swear God hates me. It took all the nerves in my body to keep myself from slapping him so hard he would wake up a senior in college.

“Well,” I said grabbing Parker to get his attention, “We need an idea by Wednesday so we can start writing.”

“Fine,” He said.

There was twenty minutes left of the period. I was using the time wisely and brain storming ideas, while the oh so talented Parker listend to his ipod. I swear he thinks he’s all that just because he breaks a couple rules here and there. I could so be a better ‘bad ass’ than him.

In AP Lit we were given a paper to write on a book we were reading. Parker was sitting directly behind me, kicking my chair once again. He was only in my class because I was taking a senior coarse since I took English over the summer for reasons I cannot explain.

“Could you please stop kicking my chair!” I yelled.

“Ms. Emmerce please be quite, that is a warning,” Mr. Renalds said from his desk.

“God Josylne, sorry,” Parker said. The weird thing about this apology was that it had this weird tone to it. Like he was being his sarcastic self but there was a hint of compassion in the words he spoke.

Oh god! I’m going crazy, this can’t be good.

It was finally lunch and I was sitting with Miranda at our usual table by the window.

“I swear to god I’m going to murder your brother in his sleep if he kicks my chair one more time today,” I said angrily as I opened a can of soda.

“Josy it’s never bothered you this much before,” She stated.

“That’s because I wasn’t already irritated.” I said sighing.

Miranda just shrugged her shoulders and continued eating. We were talking about a band when her attention got distracted by some chick putting up a sign about homecoming.

“You gonna ask someone?” She asked motioning to the sign.
I couldn’t believe she asked me that. “Who are you and what have you done with Miranda Yasmine?” I asked.

“Nothing happened to her, I was just wondering.”

“Well, then she should know, I do not ask guys out and that I am going with my amazing best friend just like we have done every year,” I said.

Miranda nodded her head in agreement and then looked down at the table as if something was wrong.

I turned around to see what she was staring at. It was Jayden. Miranda has always had a little crush on him and honestly I think he does too. In my opinion, I think its a tad bit awkward since we all live together and if something didn’t work it would be terrible. He was walking hand in hand with Amanda Ramierz. I was beyond mad. He better stay away from me tonight because he is going to here it.

“Miranda Yasmine don’t you dare show that boy your emotions,” I stated. Easier said then done I know but she knew better than to disobey me.

Jayden walked straight over to where the football boys and cheerleaders were. Parker was sitting there while Charlie was sitting awkwardly in his lap trying to flirt with him. I felt bad for her she was making a full out of herself.

“Don’t worry, he’ll here from me tonight,” I said patting Miranda from across the table.

“Please don’t just leave it alone,” She never liked trouble, not even when she was little growing up around me. She was just so innocent.

I turned around to look if Jayden was still holding hands with Amanda but to my utter disgust I encountered something else. “My eyes they burn!” I yelled.

Miranda looked back at the table and started gagging. “Let’s get out of here!” We ran out of the cafeteria as fast as we could. By the time we were outside we were dying of laughter.

“I will never get that image out of my head!” She yelled.

“So nasty she was like attacking his face!” I said gasping for air.
