Prologue

Hey, Elisa, remember when we first met? It was so long ago…we were in 3rd grade. I remember it so clearly…I was being bullied by a bunch of kids, and you jumped in to defend me.
Everyone was scared and freaked out by you, so they walked away.
I remember how you reached your hand out to me, with that warm, caring smile. You welcomed me into your life. I took your hand that day, knowing what they said about you.
Your life was hard, but if I had a chance to change what I did that day, I probably would have hugged you instead of simply accepting your hand…
That was 8 years ago…we’re juniors now, and I can say, that none of us ever expected what happened would happen…
I’m just glad I was by your side, so you weren’t alone when it happened.
So before you left, you knew that we cared.
I had faith in you…
And I still do...
