Hanru Sazuki

Hanru Sazuki Volume One Chapter Ten: Choices of fate (Spring 2009)

Hanru Narrating: All my life I've been waiting for my calling. Life sometimes feels like an unfinished puzzle: You work hard in putting it together; you slowly begin to recognize the outcome as you progress. Most are afraid to finish the puzzle of life. They cannot accept the truth of their own destiny. They believe if by creating their own pieces they will be able to put together their own puzzle of life and predict the outcome of their own destiny. But what is life, if we know of its meaning? Life will always remain a mystery to us all; whether we accept it, or deny it. Our fate and our destinies, have been written in stone. But only through our choices, can we understand the reason for our own existence. Learning our own meaning in the world is the closest thing we have of learning the meaning of the world itself. The choices we make in our lives will determine if we are ready to face the truth of our fate.

(Hanru's bedroom)

(Hanru and his friends Lee, Mamimi, and Meukie are nervously standing around Hanru's bedroom. Hanru can't help but to pace back in forth in front of his bed.)

Lee: Maybe you should just let him get the number. I mean, what's the worse thing your uncle can do? I think he'll be proud of you for being a great detective.

Hanru: (Bites nails and says with slight frustration) It's not that simple. Lately I've been working with serial killers for the past few days. I don't know what will happen if my uncle finds out about it, and I don't want to know. I want to avoid it.

Mimi: Maybe I can help. Hanru, you've been there for me since we were kids. I still haven't forgotten about the time you saved me from those bullies at the park.

Hanru: (Stops and looks at Mamimi with a smile) That was the day we meet. No matter how difficult the situation was, I continued to face them until they left you alone.

Mimi: You've done so much for me, Hanru. Now let me do something for you.

(Police station)

(Ada's sitting at her messy desk, filled with files and papers. She's looking at a case files while biting the end of her pen. She is really tired and working hard. Her head slowly begins to fall onto her desk. Her forehead hits the desk and she begins snoring lightly. Her cell phone rings loudly and she gets up in a hurry. She takes her phone out of her pocket and answers it.)

Ada: (Sounds tired, but trying to sound professional. She covers her face with her hand) This is Ada.

Mimi: Ada, I need a favor from you. Please don't ask any questions when I ask you to do this but... (Gets cut off)

Ada: (Sounds tired and a bit irritated) No, no favors tonight. I had a long day and I have a ton of work to do. Sorry, but maybe some other time.

Mimi: (Raises voice and sounds a bit nervous) Hey I was the one who had to take care of you when you were in that wheelchair since you were being lazy.

Ada: (Raises voice a bit) Lazy?! I was shoot multiple times and was paralyzed from the waist down for a week.

Mamimi: Oh like that's an excuse.

Ada: (Frustrated) Whatever, Mimi, look what do you want?

Mimi: An officer at the station is tracking the phone of a suspected serial killer. Hanru was talking to him. I need for you to get rid of the number before anyone else sees it.

Ada: (Takes deep breath and still sounds frustrated) I'm tired, I can't deal with something this complicated right now.

Mimi: Come on, Ada, you owe me.

Ada: I'll... Think about it, Mimi.

Mimi: It's better than just saying no, I guess.

Ada: (Sarcastic laugh) Yeah. (Hangs up Mamimi and drops phone on desk without care.)

(Ada takes a deep breath and begins typing something on her computer right away. She stops after a few seconds and slowly peaks her head over the computer to look at the desk across from hers. A male officer is sitting at the desk taking a slow sip of coffee. Ada looks around the station to make sure no one is around. She smiles at the officer and talks to him and sounds like she's tired yet trying to stay motivated.)

Ada: That coffee's looking pretty good right about now.

Officer: I just made some fresh. (Takes a sip) I could get you some if you'd like. It's not like I'm doing anything important right now.

Ada: (Smiles) If its not too much trouble. I have a ton of paperwork to finish and I want to get it done as soon as possible.

Officer: (Smiles back) Hey, I understand. (Gets out of chair) What do you like in your coffee?

Ada: It really doesn't matter to me right now; I just need some caffeine.

Officer: (Both chuckle) Alright, one caffeine surprise coming up.

(Back in Hanru's room, everyone continues to stand around Hanru's bedroom. Mamimi does not seem bothered by Ada hanging up on her.)

Hanru: (Nervous) So what'd she say?

Mimi: She'll... think about it. (Joking) She's a bit tired, so she can't really go Sly Cooper status right now.

Hanru: (Sarcastically) Haha very funny.

Mimi: (Smiles) Relax, I'm just trying to lighten the mood.

(Mimi sits down next to Hanru on the bed and puts her hand on his thigh in a friendly way.)

Lee: (Whispers to Meukie) I think she just lightened his mood.

Meukie: Get away from me.

Mimi: (Friendly) You need to not stress out over this, Han. Nothing has happened yet, so there's no reason to be upset.

Hanru: (Grabs Mamimi's hand and moves it away from his thigh) Maybe...

Lee: Hey, I know you have a major issue here, Han, but you're not the only one. Meukie still needs a place to stay.

Hanru: I don't know what to say to that right now.

Lee: How about (Tries to impersonate Hanru) "Hey my big bro is looking for a new place to stay with his chick and maybe Meukie can live with them?"

Hanru: (Sounds a bit frustrated) They're not dating, Lee; they're just friends for your information. And I don't know if that'll work out.

Lee: Let's at least give it a try. You're the one who always says "life's full of surprises."

Hanru: Since when have I ever said that?

Lee: Oh right... it must of been on an Oprah rerun.

Meukie: Uh... Oprah?

Lee: (Gets a bit nervous) Did I say Oprah? No I meant... Something manly...

Mimi: (Being sarcastic and grinning) Like Dr. Phil?

Lee: (Gets excited) That's where I heard it from!

(Everyone stares at Lee with weird face. Lee gets nervous again.)

Lee: I... Should call Lawrence. Yeah, yeah that's it; call Lawrence.

(Lee turns away and gets on his cell phone. He dials Lawrence right away.)

(Apartments)

(Lawrence is in a large hallway with his friend Israel, David the landlord, and Carl the exterminator. They are all walking down the hallway. Everyone seems to be normal. Except from the paranoid Landlord.)

Lawrence: A two-bedroom apartment may not fit our budget. A one-bedroom will do just fine.

David: Your loss, man. Some of these two-bedroom apartments run at about the same price as a one-bedroom.

Israel: It would've been nice if you mentioned this before.

David: You didn't ask.

Lawrence: I still think we should get a one-bedroom. Someone has to sleep on the couch at night and guard the front door to make sure we're safe from thieves and criminals.

Carl: Now that's good that you want to protect your girl. You got guts kid. (Friendly punches Lawrence in the arm.)

Lawrence: (Holds arm were we got punched but doesn't show any sign of pain) I was actually talking about her sleeping in the living room.

Israel: (Sounds offended and scoffs) Gee thanks.

Lawrence: (Chuckles) I'm kidding. You know how I am.

(They all stop in front of an apartment door. Another one is across from them.)

David: (Says like he doesn't have a sense of humor) Can we get on with the tour?

Lawrence: Yeah, sorry. (Cell phone rings) Hold on a second.

(Lawrence pulls out his phone and answers it. David takes a deep breath and is getting impatient.)

Lawrence: Yo.

Lee: How's it going, Lawrence? Still searching for a crib, my homie G dogg? (Laughs)

Lawrence: (Sounds a bit confused) Um... Yeah... Why?

Lee: I just want to know how my best buddy's doing.

Mamimi: Hey!

Lee: Oh sorry, second best buddy.

Lawrence: I'm fine, Lee... But why are you calling? What do you want?

Lee: What I can't call my friend and see how... (Gets cut off)

Lawrence: (Sounds a bit irritated) Lee! What do you want?

(Lawrence hears Lee and Hanru talking over the phone.)

Lee: Hey, wait, no no! I want to talk to him.

Hanru: Give me the phone, Lee.

Lee: No it's mine.

(Lawrence hears a loud crash over the line. Lee whimpers in pain.)

Hanru: (Talks to Lawrence) Hey, brother.

Lawrence: Any particular reason why you didn't call me on your phone?

(David clears his throat to get Lawrence's attention. Lawrence looks at him and David points to his watch. Lawrence give him the hold on finger.)

Hanru: I wanted him to ask you this, but he's beating around the bush.

Lawrence: Could you hurry it up; I'm kinda on a time limit here?

Hanru: Sorry... Anyway. (Takes a deep breath) I'm just gonna come out and say it.

Lawrence: Please hurry.

Hanru: You remember Meukie?

Lawrence: The uh... Prostitute, right?

Hanru: Uh... (Looks at Meukie looking at his sword for a second) Yeah. So uh... She kind of lost her house and she needs a place to stay. We were wondering if she could stay with you?

(Meukie looks at Hanru, patiently wait for a response.)

Lawrence: I'm not sure how to respond to that right now.

Hanru: I know right.

Lawrence: Look, I don't know about that, Han. I mean I'm not sure how it'll workout.

(Lee gets on the phone)

Lee: (Yells in a friendly and assertive way) Hey! This girl just lose everything she owned to some douche bag landlord! She has no home or money. She only has the clothes on her back! (Calms down and looks at Meukie) Which by the way may need to be washed soon.

Meukie: (Frustrated and whispers to self) Here we go again.

Lee: Meukie... Would you like to do laundry at my house?

Meukie: (Says without a care and without interest.) Do you have any clothes for me to put on while they're being washed?

Lee: You don't need clothes when you're in my house.

Meukie: (Grins and pretends like she's happy and cares.) Oh you're nudists! So whenever you're at home, and you're just sitting at the dinner table having lunch, you have to sit next to the naked wrinkly old body of your grandma? You let a naked old lady cook your food?!

Lee: (Has a hard time getting a word out for five seconds.) I'm gonna shut up now.

Lawrence: (Impatient) Hello?! I'm still here!

Lee: Right, sorry.

Lawrence: (Sounds frustrated) Look, If we let Meukie stay with us, we have to know she can help out.

Lee: (Grins) I'm sure she can lend a helping hand.

Lawrence: Was that a dirty joke? Never mind, never mind, forget I said that. Look I'll think about it, alright?

Lee: (Sounds like a cute little kid) Please say yes.

Lawrence: Goodbye! (Hangs up phone)

David: I have to show another couple around in an hour, so let's hurry this up?

Lawrence: It's almost 2:00AM.

David: Well, I'm showing you around aren't I?

Lawrence: Yeah but we called and told you we were coming.

David: So did the other couple.

Lawrence: (Shrugs shoulders and accepts his words.) I guess.

(Lee and Hanru face each other. Lee gets serious and stares at Hanru with tension in his eyes. Hanru is a bit frustrated.)

Lee: You really need to stop that.

Hanru: Stop what? You were taking too long to tell Lawrence what you needed to tell him. I had to hurry things up.

Lee: The world doesn't revolve around you, Hanru.

Hanru: I Never in my life let that thought pass through my head.

Lee: I know you keep to yourself most of the time and you don't let others get involved in most situations in your life, but you have to understand that we are your friends and we are here to help you.

Hanru: Help me do what? All you do is get in the way! Because I was so worried about your safety, I couldn't stop Natasha when I had the chance!

Lee: Oh so now you're blaming us?!

Meukie: Enough! (Stands between Lee and Hanru) Hanru, I understand how frustrated you are. But you really need to calm down. Lee has a very interesting point. You need friends to help you. Some part of you knows this is almost over. This thing with Natasha and the group. You know that everything will change once this situation is over.

Hanru: (Calms down but is still a little stressed.) It was pure luck that I found serial killers who didn't want to kill me. Jason and Allen are good people. I know that once this situation with Natasha is over, I'm not gonna meet anymore serial killers who'll spare my life. Or the lives of those close to me. I just don't want anyone getting hurt. I'm not sure if I want to continue being a detective or if I don't want to continue.

Lee: We know the risk, Han. We know our lives are at stake.

Mamimi: We're partners. We all work together, no matter how dangerous the situation is.

Meukie: I'm your partner. (Meukie reaches her hand out in front of her.)

(Lee and Mimi walk up to Meukie and Hanru to form a small circle of friendship.)

Lee: I'm your partner. (Puts hand on top of Meukie's)

Mimi: I'm your partner. (Puts hand on Lee's)

Hanru: (Stares at the hands and sounds upset) So this is it? We're officially a team? We're gonna solve crimes together?

Mamimi: (Sounds friendly) We'll all do our part to help.

Hanru: Fine. (Sniffs) We're partners. (Puts hand in circle and smiles) I officially announce the birth of Team Sazuki.

Lee: (Smiles) Sounds awesome.

Hanru: (Thinking) I understand. I have to let people into my life. That's something I can never truly do... But I can let them in to a certain extent. I have many secrets that no one will ever know. And I don't plan on telling anyone about them. I will allow my friends to assist me in solving crimes, but that's it. Deep down, I will never accept them as teammates.

(Leo's car)

(Leo is driving his car down a dark road. His eyes wonder around searching for another vehicle. Not one car is in sight. Leo stops at a stoplight then reaches into the sun visor on the passenger side. He pulls out a picture. He sits back in his seat and continues to stare at it for a few seconds. He looks away from the picture as if he's thinking about something. He puts the picture down then pulls out his cell phone and dials someone. Justin answers the phone. Justin sounds a bit out of it, but he talks normal. Leo sounds calm, like something's on his mind and he needs help figuring it out.)

Justin: Buh.

Leo: What?

Justin: What do you want?

Leo: Whatever, look I need to talk to you about something.

Justin: Again, what do you want?

(Light turns green and Leo drives forward.)

Leo: Do you think it's time for me to move on? Relationship wise.

Justin: You mean like a girlfriend?

Leo: Yeah. Do you think It's time I start dating again?

Justin: I don't know, man. Only if you think you're ready. Are you willing to start going out again?

Leo: I don't know. I mean everyone down at the station knows Ada has a thing for me. I don't know, maybe it's time I asked her out. What do you think?

Justin: Ada is a girl with options. She's the type of girl most men like. She's charming, smart, a little childish, very attractive. She's not gonna wait around for you for too long. If you're gonna make a move, I suggest you do it soon.

Leo: Who do you know likes Ada in an attractive way?

Justin: A ton, dude. I don't think the two of us have ever had lunch together without some strange guy asking her out.

Leo: She never told me.

Justin: She's still waiting for you to ask her out. You should hurry, before she starts saying yes to those guys.

Leo: Thanks, Justin.

Justin: No problem.

Leo: Hey, are you high?

Justin: No, just tired.

Leo: No I think you're high.

Justin: No. I haven't smoked weed in about a year. It just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Leo: Right. anyway, thanks for the advice.

Justin: No problem. I'll talk to you later.

Leo: See you around.

Justin: Buh. (Both hang up)

(Justin is lying on his couch in a completely dark room. He places his phone on the coffee table next to him then grabs his pillow and tries to go back to sleep. His cell phone rings again. He begins to get frustrated. He grabs his phone and answers it with slight frustration.)

Justin: What do you want?

Erika: (Sounds a bit confused and sad the whole time) Hey, Justin, I know it's late but really need to talk to you.

Justin: Can we talk in the morning; I'm kinda tired right now?

Erika: It's really important. It'll only be a second, I promise.

Justin: (Takes deep breath) Fine.

Erika: ... Ada... Helped me realize something. I really want to change my life and know what it feels to truly be happy; not without drugs, or alcohol.

Justin: I really don't know how I can help you out with that.

Erika: I don't know how to change. I've been in pain my whole life.

Justin: If you want to truly be happy, do things that make you happy and make you forget about all your other problems.

Erika: So you want me to do what I think is best?

Justin: Pretty much. Only you can find what truly makes you happy.

Erika: So this is something I have to do on my own. (Takes deep breath) Okay... Thank you, Justin.

Justin: No problem. (Both hang up)

(Erika is sitting on her couch in a dark room. A bottle of liquor is in front of her on her coffee table. She stares at it with a slight depression for five seconds. She slowly reaches her hand out to grab it. She hold the bottle in her hand then stands up. She looks at the bottle for 3 seconds. She then uses all her force to throw the bottle against the wall. The bottle shatters and glass silently hits the carpet. Liquor slowly drips down the wall.)

(Hospital parking lot)

(Holly, Bruce, and Tsuki are sitting in Bruce's car. Everyone is upset and quiet. They're all sad do to the death of Holly's grandmother Camilla. Dr. Peter runs up to the car and knocks on the drivers window. The knock startles everyone. Bruce rolls down the window. Peter is acting casual.)

Peter: Sorry to bother you, but I think your daughter left this in the room. (Shows Bruce a pink cell phone)

Bruce: (Takes it and hands it to Holly) Thanks.

Peter: Hey, I'm sorry. You know death can be an awful thing. (Bruce turns on the car) But sometimes it can be beautiful. She's moved on to a better place.

Bruce: (Says like he's uninterested) Right, thank you. (Quickly drives off)

(Bruce quickly drives out of the parking lot. Peter watches him go. Another doctor walks up to Peter from behind and taps his shoulder. He turns to face her. The doctor's name is Nicky.)

Nicky: You still need help with that cop?

Peter: No, thank you; I'm fine. (Walks a few feet toward the hospital entrance)

Nicky: (Stops him) This isn't your business, Peter. Just let it go.

Peter: Let it go? (Turns and walks up to Nicky) Niki, a cop gave a doctor permission to murder someone.

Nicky: Brenda lost her brother to the prostitute killer. The cop understood her pain and gave her the go-ahead to kill her.

Peter: I don't believe Meukie was the prostitute killer. She was a normal sick patient; same as everyone else in that hospital.

Nicky: (Trying to prove a point) Then how do you explain her jumping out the window and leaving the hospital?

Peter: The cops framed her, right? Maybe she was trying to get out so she can find the real killer before the cops arrested her.

Nicky: A lot of things could've happened, Peter. But we don't know the truth. It's not our business to get involved with this sort of stuff. But my brother can help find the truth. Lets just call and tell him to handle it.

Peter: Look no offense, but your brother's a lowlife. I don't want him hurting anyone because of my personal issues.

Nicky: Finding out if this Meukie girl is the prostitute killer is a personal issue?

Peter: No, It doesn't matter if she is or not. I just don't think she is. (Gets upset) The personal issue I have is with the cop who gave Brenda permission to kill Meukie. Cops are suppose to stop murder; not encourage it!

Nicky: (Calms down) I know you're a good person, Peter, but what exactly are you gonna do to this cop? You said you were gonna follow him, but for what?

Peter: To find his secrets and use them against him. I'm sure this guy's a dirty cop. And I despise dirty cops.

(Holly is sitting in the backseat of the car next to her sister while her father Bruce drives. The car is silent and depressing. Holly looks at the screen on her phone.)

Tsuki: Are you gonna call him?

Holly: ... No. (Puts phone down) Hanru and I aren't together anymore. I shouldn't call him when I'm feeling upset.

Tsuki: So that's it, huh? You're not gonna talk to him anymore?

Holly: Maybe... I don't know. (Looks out the window with a blank face) I still want to be friends. I mean he did help grandma let go of her anger and find peace in death.

Tsuki: Yeah... (Sees Holly staring at the window.) It'll be okay, little sister. (Rubs her back) Everything will work out.

Holly: Maybe... It's just like mom allover again. She died the same way.

Tsuki: I know... I'm sorry.

(Bruce looks through the rear view mirror and looks at Holly as she continues to stare out the window with a blank stare. A small tear drops from his right eye.)

(Dark street)

(Leo is driving down a dark street. He sees car parts leading down the next street to his right. He right away turns down the street. He sees a car smashed into a pole further down. Leo drives up to the car and stops behind it. He notices the bakery in front of the pole has a smashed in window. He goes through the window and hears a man desperately moaning for help. He looks on the ground at the end of the counter and sees Jason lying on the ground dying. Leo is a bit shocked as he watches Jason on the ground. Leo snaps out of it then dials someone on his phone.)

Leo: (Freaks out) I need an ambulance immediately!

(Abandoned warehouse)

(Natasha parks the rig truck she's driving inside the warehouse. She turns it off. She reaches over into the glove compartment and opens it. A man is standing at the driver's window staring at Natasha. Natasha does not see this man. She pulls a handgun out of the glove compartment and sits back in her seat. The man is gone. Natasha checks to make sure the gun is loaded. She opens the door then steps down backwards. The man sees her step down and he grabs her ankle. He pulls it and Natasha falls and slams her face on the step of the rig. The man slams his knee into her back to hold her down then grabs her by the hair and pulls her head back. The man is revealed to be Oliver. He sounds a bit psychotic.)

Oliver: I've waited so long for this.

(Oliver jams a needle with green fluid into Natasha's neck. Natasha passes out instantly.)

(Hanru's home)

(Everyone is sleeping around Hanru's room. Hanru's on his bed with Mamimi next to him. Meukie's on his computer chair, and Lee is on the floor. Mamimi's phone rings and her and Hanru wakes up. Mamimi answers right away. She is very tired.)

Mimi: Hello?

Ada: (Sounds tired) I did what you said, but only cause you took care of me when I was in a wheelchair.

Mimi: (Sits up) What?

Ada: When the cop who was monitoring Jason's calls left to get me coffee, I went to his desk and tried to erase the number, but he caught me.

Mimi: So how'd you get rid of it?

Ada: Let's just say, I used my seductive charm.

Mimi: Right... (Chuckles) Uh! I'm exhausted. I really do appreciate this, Ada.

Ada: One of these days, you are gonna tell me why you wanted that number gone. I read the number and noticed it was Hanru's.

Mimi: (Freaks out a bit) Oh no. (Face palm) Look, please don't tell anybody.

Ada: I won't. When you were taking care of me a few weeks ago, you told me about Hanru's attempt to be a detective. He tried to solve the case of his friend's uncle's shooter. You told me his name was Jason.

Mimi: I did? I'm sorry... I have such a big mouth.

Ada: Don't let your perverted friend, Lee hear you say that.

Mimi: Actually, he's sleeping right now. We're all at Hanru's place.

Ada: There you go again, talking too much.

Mimi: ugh.

Ada: I just wanted to tell you I did what you said. Your friend is safe now... At least from the number.

Mimi: Thank you, Ada.

Ada: Goodnight.

(Both hang up the phone and the police officer is standing behind Ada as she sits at her desk. The cop sounds shady and criminal like.)

Officer: So...

(Ada gets startled)

Ada: (Nervous) How long have you been there?

Office: Long enough. (Walks in front of her desk) So now I understand why you wanted me to delete the number from the computer. Leo's nephew is trying to be a detective like his uncle. (Cracks a smile)

(The officer grabs a pencil from Ada's desk and he begins playing with it.)

Ada: Listen you can't tell anyone.

Officer: I think Leo has a right to know what his nephew's doing.

Ada: Please don't tell, I'll do anything.

Officer: Trust me, I know you will. You made out with me just so I could delete a number. (Puts his face up to hers when he says this) I didn't even do it.

Ada: (Whispers) What?

Officer: (Stands back up) The number is still written down.

Ada: What do you want me to do?

Officer: Nothing. (Gently places pencil on her desk) As a cop, it is my duty to do what's right, make the right choices and follow orders. (Walks back to his desk and sits down.) The Sergeant ordered me to give him these numbers. I'm just following orders.

Ada: You can't get Hanru involved in this.

Officer: If he's smart enough to be a detective, he's smart enough to get himself out of troubling situations!

Ada: (Gives up trying to convince him not to tell) Well I guess there's nothing I can do.

Office: Now you got it.

Ada: We'll just see how things turn out.

(Hanru's bedroom)

(Hanru and Mimi are sitting on opposite sides of Hanru's bed. Lee and Meukie are still sleeping in the same place. Lee is on the floor and Meukie is sleeping on the chair at the computer desk. Hanru and Mamimi are wide awake but for some reason they hesitate to make any contact with each other. They try to avoid looking at each other. Hanru is looking around his room trying to find something of interest that'll keep his mind off Mimi. Mimi is acting a bit shy and is thinking about talking to Hanru. After about five seconds, she turns to face him. She sounds shy and Hanru sounds a bit nervous, but Mimi doesn't really notice it.)

Mimi: So... Have any plans tomorrow?

Hanru: Uh... I don't know. Maybe. Why?

Mimi: Just... Wondering, that's all, it's no big deal.

Hanru: (Thinking) I think she wants us to hang out.

(Hanru faces Mimi and smiles. He then looks at the ceiling and talks to her.)

Hanru: Maybe... We can spend some time together. I mean I don't think I'll have any plans tomorrow.

Mimi: (Lying) Actually, I have some things to take care of at the animal shelter.

Hanru: No you don't. Come on, let's just have a fun-filled day tomorrow; just you and me.

Mimi: Well... I don't know, Hanru.

Hanru: We haven't been hanging out lately. I don't want us to separate as friends.

Mimi: Okay, I guess...

Hanru: Great. (Smiles at Mimi and she smiles back) (Thinking) I know Mimi likes me, but I'm not exactly sure how to return the feelings. Maybe I should go with her. I hate dating, but maybe I just haven't found the right girl yet. Is Mamimi the right girl?

(Hanru closes his eyes. Seconds later he passes out. He opens his eyes again seconds later and his vision gets blurry. A white light shines brightly. His vision becomes clear. Hanru is standing in a dark living room. He does not recognize anything around him, yet it's familiar to him. He has a massive headache and he's constantly trying to figure out where he is. A high pitch noise rings through Hanru's head. His headache gets worse and worse. After about ten seconds, his headache completely goes away. He calms down. He feels his body to make sure he's in one peace. The front door of the living room he's in opens and Leo walks in with another man. The man is very handsome and he has short black hair. Leo and this man are arguing about something. Leo turns on the living room light and closes the front door. The other man's name is Kwan.)

Leo: What was I suppose to do, Kwan?!

Kwan: You could've told me about it instead of going behind my back like you always do!

(Hanru nervously stands and quietly watches them argue. Sweat is dripping down his face and he's breathing kinda hard.)

Leo: Look, I know you're my brother, but this is something I had to do!

Kwan: Hanru's mother, our sister... Was just murdered! It was clear that once Hanru's guardians pass away, he lives with me! Lawrence lives with you!

Leo: Yes and got Hayleen! Look, Hanru was stabbed in his chest with a sword and his mother was stabbed to death right in front of him. Somehow his mind couldn't handle the trauma and he forgot everything that happened to him for the past seven years.

Kwan: Yes, the last seven years of his life is forgotten and now he remembers nothing, but he needs to be reminded.

Leo: No he does not! He is my nephew and I think him not remembering this traumatic event is a good thing! I'm sorry I went behind your back and legally changed custody, but I'm doing what I think is best for Hanru!

Kwan: Get out! You no longer welcome in my house and you are no longer welcome as my brother. This isn't the first time you stabbed me in the back. But this... This is just too far! I never want to see your face again. GET OUT!

Leo: (Calms down) I will. But I did what I thought was best, and I'm not sorry for it.

Kwan: I'm sorry... Sorry we were ever brothers. Now leave!

(Hanru is a little confused and nervous. He slowly turns around and sees a little boy hiding behind the couch watching Kwan and Leo argue. The boy looks at Hanru with a sad face. Hanru and the boy make eye contact and stare into each others' eyes for about ten seconds. Hanru wakes up and opens his eyes in confusion. Mimi is still sitting next to him. Hanru's a bit nervous and tense.)

Hanru: How long was I out?

Mimi: (Has no clue what he's talking about) What do mean, you closed your eyes for about three seconds?

Hanru: (Looks away and talks out loud to self) It felt like a minute.

Mimi: Are you okay?

Hanru: (Closes eyes and rubs forehead) Uh... Yeah. (Opens eyes) I'm just a little tired is all. No big deal. (Smiles to let her know he's okay)

(Cabin in the dark forest)

(Oliver's car parks in front of the cabin. He opens the trunk and quickly carries Natasha inside the cabin over his shoulder. The cabin is completely dark. He turns on the lamp beside the front door and he closes the door. He locks the door behind him. He drops Natasha on the floor and she hits with a thump. Allen is seen sitting down in a chair across the living room with a small glass of liquor in his hand. Oliver is sweating hard. His urge to kill is getting strong and he seems to be going through a withdraw. Allen is relaxed and has a very dark and evil sense about him. After Oliver drops Natasha on the ground, Allen cracks a smile. He takes one last sip of his iced-liquor then gently places it on the small wooden table beside him. He stands up and walks up to Oliver. Oliver and Allen stare at Natasha's unconscious body with a evil look while they talk.)

Allen: She was like a sister to us. It's too bad she has to die.

Oliver: Yeah well, we all gotta die sometime.

(Oliver runs over to the kitchen and pulls a butcher knife out of the drawer. He rushes over to Natasha's body and attempts to stab her. Allen grabs his hand to stop him. The two make eye contact with a dark intensity.)

Allen: We have orders to wait for Jason.

Oliver: Who cares about orders? I am my own killer. I take orders from no one. Now let go of me.

(The two stare into each other's eyes for 3 seconds. Allen lets go. Oliver looks down at Natasha.)

Oliver: Bring me the table.

(Allen moves the large wooden table out of the kitchen and into the living room. Oliver and Allen work together to lift Natasha on the table. Oliver and Allen stand on opposite sides of the table. Oliver holds his knife up with both hands. He prepares to stabs Natasha in the heart. His face filled with sweat and his hands shivering with excitement. The front door of the cabin is kicked in by someone. This someone is Adam Giovanni. Adam points his pistol at Oliver. Adam is really tense and is freaking out.)

Adam: Drop it, Oliver!

Oliver: If you're gonna shoot me, you should do it now. Nothing's gonna stop me from killer her! Not now, not ever!

Adam: She's an innocent woman, Oliver, you can't kill her!

Oliver: Innocent?! Ha. Natasha is far from innocent. She's a killer.

Adam: Maybe she is, but that doesn't give you the right to take her life!

Oliver: Make your choice, Sergeant. I know I have.

(Oliver strikes in a downward position. he attempts to stab Natasha in the chest. Adam shoots at Oliver one time. The bullet flies into Oliver's hand he looses all feeling and control. The knife falls out of his hand and next to Natasha. Natasha opens her eyes wide and wakes up. She grabs the knife beside her and quickly charges at Allen. Before he could react, Natasha stabs Allen in the gut. Allan is stumbling across the living room in pain. He falls on his back about 15 seconds later. He is not conscious at all. He appears to be dead. Oliver runs at Natasha and tries to grab her by the neck. Adam lets off one shot and shoots Oliver in the stomach. Oliver falls to the ground.)

Adam: (Adam is tensed up and shaking) You okay?!

Natasha: (Pretends to cry and feel scared) Oh my gosh thank you for saving me!

(Natasha runs up to Adam. She stands next to him.)

Adam: (Pushes her behind him.) I'm gonna need you to step back; he may be armed!

(Natasha runs in front of Adam and knees him in the balls. She grabs his gun. Oliver stands up and points a gun at Natasha. Natasha points her gun at him. The two let of two shots. One of Oliver's bullets miss. The other hits her in the stomach. One of Natasha's bullets hit Oliver in the neck. The other one misses him. Oliver falls to the ground. Blood is gushing out of his neck. Oliver pulls a remote out of his pocket. He flips the switch. Natasha runs out of the house, along with Adam. When they get about 10 feet from the house, The house explodes. Natasha and Adam hit the ground. The entire cabin burns with a hot intensity. Adam rushes over to Natasha. He seems concerned.)

Adam: Are you okay?!

(Natasha hits Adam in the face with the pistol and knocks him out.)

Natasha: Just fine!

(Natasha runs out into the dark forest while holding her stomach in pain. About 10 minutes later, She runs into a small gas station. She pushes the door open and rushes in. A man is at the register buying something from the cashier. Natasha walks up to him. She is beyond angry at the point.)

Natasha: MOVE!

Customer: Hey, sorry, but you're gonna have to wait your turn.

(Natasha pulls her gun out and shoots the man in the face point-blank. His blood goes everywhere. She goes up to the cashier and points the gun at him. The cashier is terrified.)

Natasha: Where are your first aid kits?!

Cashier: They're in the back.

Natasha: Thank you.

(Natasha shoots the cashier in the face point blank. She goes to the back of the store and sees first aid kits. She takes about 4 boxes. She then walks up to the dead body of the cashier and sees a shotgun beside him. She grabs it and checks to see if it's loaded. It has ammo, but she looks around anyway to find more. She doesn't see any around, so she rushes out of the store with the shotgun in one hand and first aid kits in the other.

(Police station)

(Leo walks into the empty police station. The only people there are Ada and the officer she was talking to. The two are wide awake and there is tension between the two of them. Leo walks up to Ada's desk as soon as he gets into the station Ada is a bit surprised to see him there and the officer is excited to tell Leo about Hanru. Leo is a bit sweaty and a bit nervous when he talks to Ada.)

Ada: Hey, what are you doing here?

Leo: I wanted to talk. Look, I've been thinking about some stuff and looking back at my life. I'm ready to move on.

Ada: (Confused) Move on to what?

Leo: I was thinking... That maybe... You and I should start going out.

Ada: (Surprised) Really? I mean... Are you sure that's a good idea?

Leo: Maybe it isn't. But we'll never know for sure unless we try each other out.

Ada: (Thinking hard about an answer) Well... I don't know, Leo. Dating coworkers is never really a good idea.

Leo: Who knows, maybe we'll actually work out.

Ada: Well... Uh...

Officer: Well while you're thinking, I guess I'll tell Leo the great news about his nephew.

Leo: What news.

Ada: No! (Nervous) Listen, Hanru's personal life is none of Leo's business.

Leo: No I want to know. What about my nephew?

(Ada sits down in he chair with a really nervous look. Her heart is beating faster and faster.)

Officer: It seems your nephew is connected to Jason Petrelli. The number that I got from Jason's phone was the number of Hanru.

Leo: I knew something like this would happen. It was a matter of time before a suspect went after my family.

Ada: Not just any suspect-a killer.

Leo: He could've called and told Hanru anything. He probably threatened him.

Ada: We should get to your house and make sure he's okay.

(Leo quickly walks away from Ada's desk and heads toward the elevator. Ada stands up and grabs her coat from the back of her chair. The officer stands up and yells at Leo while he's walking away.)

Officer: Leo...!

Leo: (Continues to walk) Not now, Mack!

(Hanru's home)

(Hanru, Mamimi, Lee and Meukie are all awake. They are all in the same place still. They all seem bored.)

Lee: Man this is boring. I wish something interesting would happen.

Meukie: Be careful what you wish for; you might get it.

Lee: (Crosses fingers and closes eyes tightly) I wish Meukie would go out with.

(Doorbell rings)

Mamimi: Who could that possible be?

Lee: Maybe my wish came true and a different Meukie is going out with me.

Hanru: Doubt it.

Mimi: Guys, this is serious.

Hanru: Don't start getting jumpy, Mimi. I'll go see who it is.

Mimi: (Puts hands together and covers mouth) Be careful.

Hanru: (Humoring Mimi) I will.

(Hanru runs downstairs. As he gets to the bottom step, his front door is blown apart with a shotgun. Natasha rushes in. Hanru is in an extreme panic. Everything to him is in slow motion. Natasha slowly aims the shotgun at Hanru then smiles. She pulls the trigger but nothing happens. Hanru charges upstairs. Natasha cocks the shotgun. Hanru runs into his bedroom and closes the door. Everyone is panicking and scared. Hanru is breathing really hard and is having a hard time getting a word out.)

Mimi: Oh my gosh, Hanru, What happened?!

Lee: Come on, man, breath, just breath.

(Hanru takes four quick deep breaths)

Hanru: Natasha's back.

Mimi: What?!

(The power goes out.)

Hanru: We can't stay here; she'll find us and kill us. We have to get out of this house now.

(Everyone runs out into the dark hall. Natasha walks upstairs and yells out while she looks for everyone.)

Natasha: Bet you didn't expect for it to end this way. You see, this is what happens when you get involved in our group! This is why Ross Geller was murdered! He tried to join our group. (She gets upstairs and walks down the short dark hallway. She carefully scans while she walks) But when it came time for him to murder, he became obsessed! Don't think anyone's gonna save you. Your uncle is on his way to a stake out with Sergeant Adam Giovanni. What he may or may not know... (Opens the hallway closet and looks through it) Is that I burned the cabin down. I shot Oliver in the neck and burned him alive. I stabbed Allen right in the gut and burned him alive. As for Jason... I had to run him off the side of the road.

(Natasha opens the bathroom door at the end of the hall. As she opens it, the lights turn back on. Everyone is terrified and shaking. They are all hugging together tightly. Natasha smiles menacingly and points her shotgun at them.)

Natasha: This time... No one's here to save you.

(A woman whispers in Natasha's ear from behind.)

Woman: You forgot me.

(The woman wraps a sharp metal wire around Natasha's neck and pulls her into the hall. Natasha drops the shotgun and tries to pull the wire off her neck. The woman drags Natasha down the hall to the stairs. The woman holds the wire tightly and throws Natasha downstairs. She makes a hard impact with every step she slams into. She gets to the bottom and hits her face hard on the wall. The woman runs into the bathroom. Her face is revealed and the woman is Sarah. She is a bit concerned for everyone.)

Sarah: Is anyone alright?

Lee: Does peeing your pants count as being alright?

Sarah: I guess...

Hanru: Sarah, why are you back, I thought you were turning your life around and leaving state?

Sarah: I know how dangerous Natasha can be. I knew the only way to really get rid of her is to attack when she least expects it.

Hanru: So what now?

Sarah: Now she dies. She will be the last person I ever kill. But I'll need help.

Hanru: This is the second time you saved my life. The least I can do is return the favor.

Meukie: We got your back.

Sarah: Thank you.

(Sarah Walks down to the very last step of the stairs seconds later. Natasha stands across from Sarah in the living room. The room feels with fiery-hot intensity with a face-off as their eyes stare into each others' souls with a passion of dark hatred. The room grows silent for ten seconds. Sarah charges at Natasha at full speed. When she gets close to Natasha, she quickly throws a punch at her face. Natasha ducks down to dodge Sarah's punch. Natasha kicks Sara in the back of the leg. Sarah falls to the ground on one knee. Natasha then grabs Sarah's hair with both hands and slams her face hard into the wooden living room coffee table beside them. She releases. Lee charges at Natasha from out the stairs with a medium sized lamp in his hands while she's still facing Sarah. Natasha turns around. Lee tries to smack Natasha in the face with the lamp. Natasha ducks to dodge it then punches Lee as hard as she can in the gut. He drops the lamp and he bends over in pain, gasping for air. Natasha elbows Lee in the face as hard as she can. Lee's head goes up. Natasha grasps Lee's face with her hand and slams him into the ground with full force. Mamimi charges at Natasha and throws a punch at her. Natasha backs up and grabs Mimi's fist. Natasha kicks Mamimi's knee to make her go back. Natasha then knees Mamimi in the stomach, then in the face. Natasha grabs the back of Mamimi's shirt and tosses her into a wooden living room dresser. The dresser instantly breaks apart. Meukie runs up behind Natasha and hits her in the back with a wooden chair. The chair breaks. Natasha Trips Meukie and quickly gets up. Mimi notices that in the pile of shattered wood, a baseball bat lays. Natasha runs at Meukie while she lies on floor. Mamimi throws the baseball bat to Meukie. Meukie grabs it and holds it up to try and block Natasha from any physical attacks. Natasha sees this and stops. She takes a few steps back and gives Meukie an evil smile. She pulls a handgun out from behind her shirt. Just as she points it at Meukie, A sword flies at Natasha and stabs right through her hand. Natasha screams at the top of her lungs. Her arm drops down and the gun falls from her hand. She looks over at Hanru standing on the stairs with a deep sense of anger as she yanks the sword out from her hand. She picks up the gun with her other hand and grasps it tightly. Meukie quickly gets up and jabs Natasha in the gut with the bat. Meukie then raises the bat up and uses her full force to bring it back down and crash it into Natasha's back. Natasha stands strait as her back throbs with pain. Meukie then uses bruit strength to horizontally strike Natasha in the face. The bat breaks and Natasha hits the floor. Everyone looks at each other as they all have a hard time catching their breath. Everyone hears something at the front door. They all turn to see what it is and it's Ada and Leo. They are both shocked at how messed up the living room is and at some of the blood around the room, which came from Natasha and Mamimi. Mamimi's nose is bleeding. Ada and Leo are speechless. They walk into the living room and look around. Natasha stands up and points her gun at Hanru. The side of her face is leaking blood. She's shaking and shivering. Her vision is also blurry so she cannot focus on her shot. She seems to about to pass out. Leo and Ada pull their guns out and aim at Natasha. Everyone in the room is scared and panicking.)

Leo: DROP IT! YOU HEAR ME, DROP IT NOW!

Ada: You have 3 seconds to put that gun down or we will put you down!

(Natasha lets out a short insane laugh)

Leo: I bet you won't think it's so funny when your brains are scattered against the wall!

Natasha: (She sounds very weak and she's going a bit insane) I've used the brains of one of my victims to repaint my apartment before. It gets boring after awhile. Besides... I'm not going anywhere until this kid's Lifeless body lies bleeding on the floor.

Sarah: Take her out! She's gonna shoot him!

(Natasha shoots at Hanru. Hanru comes crashing down the stairs. Ada and Leo pull the trigger of their weapons multiple times, but no bullets fire.)

Mimi: Hanru!

(Mamimi runs up to Hanru to make sure he's okay. Natasha looks at Leo and Ada with a dark look in her eyes. She once again lets out an insane laugh for 2 seconds. She still sounds menacing.)

Natasha: No bullets for you...

(Natasha raises her gun at Leo and Ada and pulls the trigger. Nothing happens. She looks at the gun with a blank look. A man puts a gun up to Natasha's head from behind.)

Mack: Looks like no bullets for you either.

(The man is revealed to be the officer Ada was talking to at the station.)

Mack: If you don't want sticky mush all over the walls of this room, I suggest you keep your mouth shut and get on your knees.

(Natasha slowly kneels down. She closes her eyes and listens carefully to the sounds that Mack is making. Once she hears the sound of jingling handcuffs, she opens her eyes and quickly stands up. Before Mack can ready his gun, Natasha knees him in the groan. He bends over in pain. She grabs his gun and shoots him in the back. He falls to the ground. Natasha points her gun at Hanru as he continues to lie on the floor with his eyes closed. Meukie runs and throws the broken baseball bat at Natasha's face. The sharp end where the baseball broke stabs Natasha in her eye. She looses focus on her aim and she misses her shot by inches. The bullet hits beside Hanru's face. Mimi screams in fear as she holds on to Hanru's body.)

Ada: Get out of the way!

(Leo and Ada point their guns at Natasha. Meukie stops running at Natasha and dives to the floor. About 2 seconds later, Leo and Ada unleash multiple rounds upon Natasha's wounded body. All 20 rounds pierce through her body torso. Natasha slowly falls to the ground. One eye is open and staring at Hanru. Hanru stands up as if he's not hurt at all. He stares deep into the hypnotizing eyes of Natasha's dying body. She cracks a smile at Hanru as her souls slowly leaves her body. Hanru begins to have chills throughout his body. He snaps out of Natasha's hypnotic eyes and looks away. He closes his eyes for a few seconds. A cold chill begins to consume him. Ada, Leo, Lee, and Meukie run up to Hanru and Mamimi to give them a group hug and to makes sure everyone's alright. Everyone's still a little shaken up. But Hanru seems to be a bit in his head and distracted by something. He shows no emotion, but he talks like if he's a bit depressed.)

Lee: I'm sorry I wasn't there for you, Hanru. Did you get shot?

Hanru: No, I faked it. When she shot me at the stairs I was only pretending.

Leo: I'm glad you're okay, nephew.

Hanru: (Fakes a smiles) Yeah... Me too.

(Cabin in the forest)

(Sergeant Adam Giovanni gets up from off the ground. His head is throbbing from when Natasha knocked him out. He looks in front of him and the cabin is still in flames. A man is seen limping on the side of the house trying to go into the forest.)

Adam: Hey! We're you going?

(Adam sprints up to the man. The man is Allen Elicio. Allen still has the knife that Natasha stabbed him with in his stomach. Allen stops limping and turns to face Adam. Allen is very tired and is fighting to stay alive. He's also having a hard time breathing and talking. Adam is a bit worried about Allen but he also sounds serious.)

Adam: You need a doctor.

Allen: No... No I don't.

Adam: What do you mean you don't; You're bleeding all over the place.

Allen: You cannot control the timing of your own death... If it's my time to go... Then I must accept it and prepare for the judgment that awaits me from the almighty god.

Adam: I'm sorry, I can't let you die. You're a criminal, but you're still a human being. What are you planning to do anyway? Are you just gonna wonder off into the forest until someone finds you or you loose too much blood and drop dead?

Allen: You catch on quick.

(Adam's cell phone rings)

Adam: (Answers it on the second ring) Sergeant.

Leo: It's me, sir.

Adam: (Says to self) Man that's loud. (Says to Leo) Leo. Where the heck have you been?

Leo: I'll explain that later, but right now we may have reason to believe Jason Petrelli and Allen Elicio are innocent.

Adam: What?

Leo: Hanru told me everything. He was the one talking to Jason on his cell phone. Jason was trying to warn Hanru about Natasha coming to our house and killing him. There's no proof, but I believe Natasha was the real prostitute killer. This girl standing next to me told me so. I accused Meukie of being the killer and Natasha, the real prostitute killer, felt a bit insulted cause we thought we could catch her with ease. When she found out who I was, she came after Hanru to kill him and prove to me that the real killer is still out there. That's why Natasha came into my home and tried murdering Hanru.

Adam: Whoa, wait. She went into your home?

Leo: Yeah.

Adam: So to let me clear this up. Natasha went after Hanru to get back at you for arresting the wrong prostitute?

Leo: And for accusing the wrong person.

Adam: But according to the captain, the prostitute killer's name is Sarah Travis. That was the lead that LJ guy gave us.

Leo: Natasha's real name is Sarah Travis. She changed it awhile back.

Adam: How long is awhile back?

Leo: A few years maybe.

Adam: So what about this girl who told you this?

Leo: Her name is Lauren Winter. She was posing undercover as a prostitute, so she's been following Natasha for awhile.

(Leo looks next to him and looks at Sarah. Sarah is holding a badge in her hand that has the name Lauren Winter on it.)

Hanru: (Thinking) That's a lie. Sarah's just lying to you... And she's surprisingly good at it. The sad thing is... I'm lying to him too. Jason didn't call to warn me about Natasha.

Adam: What does this have to do with Jason and Allen being innocent?

Leo: Well... I wouldn't exactly say innocent. What I mean is that I think they were trying to kill Natasha before she killed anyone else.

Adam: (Talks to Allen) I'm gonna ask you a question and I want a serious answer. Why were you trying to kill that woman?

Allen: Natasha?

Adam: Yeah.

Allen: She was a psycho chick who killed my father and tried to kill me. I found out she was the prostitute killer after she killed my father so I tried to kill her before she killed anyone else.

Adam: I don't know if I should let you go.

Leo: Sergeant, we'll talk about this another time, my battery's dying.

Adam: Sure thing.

(Adam hangs up and stares at Allen with a mean face. He's making a tough choice right now. Adam could let Allen go... Or he could arrest him.)

Adam: (Says serious with a little doubt and regret in his voice) I'm letting you go. But if I ever see you again... Don't think I'll be so merciless. We all deserve second chances.

(Allen turns around and limps out into the cold dark forest. Adam watches him limp away with a the thought of not knowing if he's made the right choice or not. Allen‘s loosing a lot of blood. He might not live.)

(Hanru's home)

(Everyone is still at the house. Officer Mack Samuels begins to twitch and moan on the floor.)

Ada: (Surprised) Oh my gosh, he's alive!

(About 30 minutes later, Ada and Leo are in the waiting room of Mercy Heights Hospital. They wait patiently. Leo is looking down in a slight depression. Ada sits next to him to comfort him. She wraps her arms around him while he sits in the chair and rubs his back. Ada is sympathetic.)

Ada: Hey... It'll be okay.

Leo: He could've died. Hanru was suppose to be safe living with me, but... If I didn't get there when I did, he would've been killed, Ada.

Ada: You don't know what would have happen, Leo. You can't blame yourself for something that could've happened.

Leo: What if it happens again and I'm not there to save him?

Ada: It's not gonna happen again. Hey, look at me. (Leo and Ada make eye contact) I promise you that nothing like this will ever happen again.

Leo: (Looks down again) Yeah... Maybe.

(Dr. Peter walks into the waiting room with Dr. Nicky by his side. The two walk up to Ada and Leo. Peter is pretending to be sympathetic while talking to Leo. Leo looks up at the two of them. He's nervously waiting and shaking his leg.)

Peter: Your friend is still in surgery... We believe he has a good chance of surviving this.

(Ada looks down for a second then looks at Peter again.)

Leo: That's good. (Looks down for a second then looks at Peter again) At least he's still alive.

Ada: (Faking her excitement and smile) Yeah...

(Lee's home)

(Lee walks into his front door. His poodle dog Roxy is sleeping on his grandmother's lap peacefully. His grandmother Ming is sitting in the dark living room under a dimmed lamp. She's reading a book and has her reading glasses on. She is happy and smiley as usual. Nothing can break her mood. Lee is exhausted.)

Lee: Hey grandma.

Ming: Where have you been, dear, it's almost 6:00AM?

Lee: Well I watched someone die for the first time. Yeah it was pretty gory and traumatic. But I'm cool; no big deal.

Ming: (Smiles) Okay, dear, don't stay up too late now; we don't want you having nightmares.

Lee: Yeah. Staying up too late does give me nightmares sometimes. (Chuckles) Well I guess I'm headed off to bed now. See you in the morning.

Ming: It is morning, dear.

Lee: I'll see you later then.

Ming: That's better. sweet dreams, dear.

Lee: Sweet dreams, grandma.

(Roxy rolls over on Ming's lap and is now lying on her back.)

Lee: Why can't I find a girl to do that to me?

Ming: Just keep looking. You'll find her.

(Lee smiles and walks toward the his room down the dark hall. Ming hears a loud thump.)

Lee: Sorry! I should've turned the light on to see where I was going!

(Dark road)

(Hanru and Mamimi are walking down a dark road. They seem to be happy to be alone with each other.)

Hanru: (Thinking) I should probably get this over with. I hate to disappoint her, but I have to.

Mimi: So... The sun's almost up.

Hanru: Yeah. Hey, I need to tell you something.

Mimi: What is it?

Hanru: I know you like me. But We can't be together. I'm sorry, but I hate relationships.

Mimi: (A bit disappointed) I understand.

Hanru: I'm sorry. I mean... Maybe we would've worked out. But you should find someone else.

Mimi: But I like you.

Hanru: I know. But you are so pretty and you have such a creative mind. I'm sure many guys will love you.

Mimi: You know, it's kinda hard to take that seriously when you say it. You're such a nice person. And you're sweet. You're so different from other guys, and that's what I like about you.

Hanru: I still have some things going on in my life.

Mimi: Tell me about ‘em; maybe I can help you.

Hanru: They're personal.

Mimi: Right.

Hanru: Hey... (Puts arm over shoulder and talks friendly) You are beautiful. I saved you from those three bullies seven years ago. You still owe me.

Mimi: I called Ada for you and told her to get rid of the number.

Hanru: Yeah you did. And it was much appreciated. But she found out anyway. So technically, you still owe me.

Mimi: (Smiles) Fine. What do you want me to do?

Hanru: I want you to move on and find another boyfriend. I know you're insecure, but that shouldn't stop you from moving on. No one has the right to judge another's looks unless that person gives them permission to do so. And so what if people think you're ugly? You are born the way you are. You shouldn't care about how people you don't even know think about the way you look. You don't know those people. For all you know, they could be jealous of the way you look. The only person who should be concerned about your beauty is yourself.

Mimi: What if I decided I wanted to come to school with no make-up and everybody would make fun of me and call me ugly?

Hanru: The people who make fun of you do not care about you. Those who do care and accept you for your natural beauty and your natural self are your true friends, they're the ones you should keep close to your heart. Cause they will make you laugh and smile and help you live a full life.

Mimi: (Smiles) Okay... You have some interesting points, but sometimes it takes more than just words to get through a person.

Hanru: I know... But all I can do it talk.

Mimi: Yeah.

Hanru: I think we're at your house.

Mimi: (Kisses Hanru on the cheek) Thanks for walking me home.

Hanru: (Smiles) Yeah.

(Mamimi walks to the front door of her house. Hanru stands for awhile to make sure she's okay. A light comes on in the house. Mimi's dad is sitting in the living room on the couch. He has sort of a mean and dark personality to him. But he does seem calm.)

Mimi's dad: I see you've been whoring yourself off again to the neighborhood boys.

Mimi: (Frustrated) Dan, please, just leave me alone.

Dan: Why do you have bruises on your face? I'm guessing it was from a boy who wanted to satisfy his sick abusive urges with you. You disgust me. You're a filthy teenage girl and I can't deal with you anymore.

Mimi: I have never in my life done the things you just said. I am not a whore.

Dan: Oh come on, you're just like your mother.

Mimi: She is not my real mother!

Dan: Your adoptive mother and I have made our decision regarding your future. We no longer want you living here.

Mimi: What?! I have nowhere else to live! Where am I suppose to go?!

Dan: I don't know; I don't care. But let's face it. We never got along. Your mother and I hate you and you hate us. So I think it's time we go our separate ways.

Mimi: Fine. I'll move out as soon as I can. I promise I won't be here too much longer.

Dan: Thank you. You're a dear.

(Lawrence and Israel's apartment)

(Lawrence and Israel are sitting on the couch in the living room. Meukie is sitting on the chair beside the couch. Israel is acting a bit jealous and upset. Lawrence is too afraid to say anything and Meukie is staying quiet and is listening to Israel speak to her out of strictness.)

Israel: Okay, rule number one: When I'm talking, you're shutting up! Rule number two: If you want to live with us you have to have a job at all times! I do not accept laziness in my home, understood?! (Meukie stays silent) I said understood?!

Meukie: (Says in fear) Yes.

Israel: I said shut up when I'm talking! (Meukie sits in fear) Now, I understand you're a prostitute. I don't mind that. But don't be surprised when you come home from work and the dishes you use are wrapped in plastic... Or burned! I shall return. I have a small list of rules that you must follow.

(Israel leaves the living room. Lawrence moves closer to Meukie and talks to her with a low voice.)

Meukie: Is she always like this?

Lawrence: No. She's a sweetheart. She's just letting you know she's in charge and that there are a lot of rules to follow.

Meukie: I hope you're telling the truth.

Lawrence: Don't worry, you're fine.

(Israel walks back into the living room with a 7 foot long paper.)

Israel: Now here are the rules you must follow at all time.

In the back room of the apartment, Hanru lies in a bed. He stares at the ceiling as his thoughts ponder through his mind.)

Hanru Narrating: We're all given choices in our lives. But it all depends on making the right ones. Most don't know what choices are right, and what choices are wrong. But we just have to look deep within ourselves to find out what we really want and need. Some choices may seem bad, but sometimes they lead to good things. But we have to watch ourselves. For if we do not, the choice of fate may present itself to us and we may make the wrong choice and change our fate for the worse. Life is difficult. But our choices can sometimes make things easier for us. I still have a lot to learn. I enjoy being a little detective. But maybe I should experiment a little bit.
