Hanru Sazuki Volume Two Chapter Eighteen: Truths Behind the Deception (Summer 2012)

(3:35AM; Lawrence and Israel’s apartment)

(As Lawrence directly drinks milk out of the carton, there is a soft knock at the door. Lawrence wipes his mouth and puts the milk back. He opens the door and it’s his uncle Leo.)

Leo: Let’s go for a drive.

(Leo is driving Lawrence down the empty street. The two of them don’t seem too happy to be around each other. The car is quiet.)

Leo: You never call or send flowers.

Lawrence: Don’t you have a boyfriend for that?

Leo: You know I’m only teasing.

Lawrence: What was your reason for coming to my apartment this late at night?

Leo: How serious are you getting with this girl?

Lawrence: What are you my father now?

Leo: I’m only looking out for my nephew is all. (Make left turn)

Lawrence: What do you care whether or not we’re getting serious?

Leo: Because your girlfriend may be involved with the murdering of two police officers, and a civilian. One of my CIs described her to me. I want you to stay as far away from her as possible; at least for now. Until the situation clears up, I don’t want you being around her if things go down. (Makes another turn)

Lawrence: I love her. Israel is the woman I want to be with. Whether she’s a murderer or not, I don’t care; I will be by her side.

Leo: Is she really worth going to jail over?

Lawrence: (Grins) Hey, you’re family, right? You’ll bail me out; no problem. And if you were in this situation, wouldn’t you want to be there for Ada?

Leo: I love Ada, but she’s not worth going to jail over.

Lawrence: Maybe she’s not worth anything to you then.

Leo: We’re talking about your relationship issues; not mine! Ada and I will be fine, but your girl is a suspected serial killer! My informant also described her partner. His description sounds an awful lot like you.

Lawrence: (Angry) Are you accusing me or something?

Leo: (Stops at streetlight) Are you guilty of something?

Lawrence: You back off from the both of us! If anything happens to Israel or me, I’m telling the police about what you to Hanru and our parents.

Leo: You can’t prove a thing.

Lawrence: You’d be surprised what I can prove.

Leo: (Smiles) Israel did do it, didn’t she?

Lawrence: I don’t know. Maybe she did. I guess we’ll never know. (Opens door and leaves vehicle)

(Diner)

(LJ, Holly, and Janet are sitting in a diner ordering. Janet and Holly sit side-by-side.)

LJ: What are you going to say to the kid once you see him again?

Janet: That kid tried to murder me. What am I expected to say to him?

LJ: Hanru is dealing with his own dark issues. I’m sure he didn’t mean what he did to you.

Janet: You know, I’m just not sure what to feel right now. This situation is just all messed up. My whole life is messed up.

(Lawrence walks into the diner soaked. Holly looks outside and sees it’s raining. Lawrence sees LJ and sits directly next to him. He still has an angry look on his face.)

Janet: Look who it is.

Lawrence: Haven’t seen you in a while; you still selling yourself on the corners?

Janet: I’m in a transitional period you butt.

Lawrence: I’ve been around long enough to know those don’t last.

Janet: Gosh, you’re so rude.

(A cute and charming waitress comes by named Charlie.)

Charlie: Hello, sir; welcome to our diner. May I offer you something hot to drink; maybe a dry T-shirt with our logo on it?

Lawrence: Actually, I’ll just take some hot chocolate.

Charlie: Okay, hot chocolate it is; a hot drink for a hot guy. (Chuckles)

Lawrence: (Smiles) Thank you.

LJ: My family and I will have the same.

Charlie: Four hot chocolates coming right up. (Walks away with a charming smile)

Lawrence: While I’m here, we might as well talk about Kaito. Kaito needs to be put down. I just don’t want him holding on to my brother when he does fall.

LJ: Your brother is smart. He’ll know how to lay low when the bomb drops.

Lawrence: Kaito owns a large crew and many businesses. If he does die, there will be a lot of damage following his death. How do we cover our hides and take out a very powerful business leader?

LJ: We need to get his highest ranking Lieutenants and take them all out at once.

Lawrence: Alright, so where do we start?

LJ: First, we need to check this guy Shido out. Mr. Shido is one of Kaito’s personal friends. The two of them started their business together. There were many others, but they were all killed over time.

Lawrence: We’ll start with him then.

(Kaito’s limo)

(Kaito and Hanru sit in the back seat talking.)

Kaito: Sorry, but your friends can’t be here right now. We’re conducting official business now.

Hanru: What is this business exactly? You traveled across the country just to for this job, and you dragged me along.

Kaito: I did… Is that a problem?

Hanru: Well no but-

Kaito: Good. Now I plan on doing a deal that’s going to earn me and the people involved a lot of money. We’re robbing a bank. I want you to be a hostage. While we all get the money, you lie on the floor and keep everyone calm. Make sure nobody no one makes a sudden movement or do anything suspicious.

Hanru: That’s my job, huh?

Kaito: Again, do you have a problem with this? Remember you work for me now and I need to make sure you can follow through with instructions. I’m counting on you to absorb and take in the feeling of bank robbery.

Hanru: Alright, Kaito. I’ll try and do my best.

Kaito: As someone who works for me, you will do your best.

Hanru: Right…

(Later on, Hanru is sitting down on the bed in his hotel room. Debbie is on the opposite bed with her back faced toward him; pretending to be sleep. Hanru opens his shirt and rubs the small scar on his chest. Natasha sits next to him.)

Natasha: Do you think your life would be better if you had parents?

Hanru: Who’s to say it wouldn’t have been worse? I just live in the moment now; not thinking about what ifs.

Natasha: Sometimes you do wonder. Sometimes you wonder about how your life would be if you were with Jessica, or if you never dropped out of school, or if I was still alive trying to kill you.

Hanru: (Chuckles and closes shirt) Yeah, back in the good ole days.

Natasha: What are you going to do about Kaito? You’ll have to get rid of him at some point. He knows everything about you: Your friends, your family, your address. You live in the moment but think about how this is going to end.

(Natasha disappears. Hanru continues to sit on the bed and think.)

Hanru: I need to go for a walk.

(30 minutes later)

(Kaito is in his luxurious room in his white robe. He sits on the couch drinking liquor and watching Scarface.)

TV: Say hello to my little friend! (Various gunfire)

(Kaito busts out laughing.)

Kaito: That line always gets to me; it’s so creative!

(Someone knocks on the door. Kaito grows cautious. He reaches under his robe and pulls out his silver pistol. He walks up to the door and makes sure the safety is off on his gun.)

Kaito: This better be important; who is it?!

Man: An old friend, Kaito. I need your help.

(Kaito quickly opens the door and points his gun at the man’s face. He lowers the gun once he recognizes who it is.)

Kaito: What are you doing here?! Come on, get inside.

(Kaito closes the door and locks it. The man is revealed to be Bruce.)

Kaito: What are you doing here, man; were you followed?

Bruce: Now you know me better than that, Kaito. If I was followed, I wouldn’t lead them right to your front door.

(Someone knocks on the door. Kaito unlocks and opens the door. It’s revealed to be Hanru.)

Kaito: Hanru? How did you find my apartment?

Hanru: I followed Bruce.

(Kaito stares at Bruce with disappointment. About 5 minutes pass and the three of them are sitting on a beautiful round white couch with a glass table in the center.)

Hanru: Kaito, why don’t you just go to one of the mansions you own here in Las Vegas?

Kaito: Hotels are smaller. It’s just me here so what do I need the extra space for?

Hanru: That makes sense.

Bruce: Hanru, how are my little girls?

Hanru: Tsuki is working in fast food trying to earn enough money for college and Holly is following in the footsteps of her prostitute mother. She took losing her father pretty hard. She’s just looking for a parent she can make proud and follow.

(Bruce gets a sad look on his face and looks down.)

Kaito: enough with the mushy stuff. Bruce, when I helped you fake your death, I expected you to leave the country.

Bruce: I had no way of leaving. The other crew I worked for in the past found me and cutoff all my connections; all except you of course.

Kaito: I plan on robbing a bank in 2 days. Tomorrow I’m getting a crew together to do the job. I’ll cut you a deal: You another member on our crew, we’ll be able to carry more money out. You help us with this job and I’ll be sure to give you a fair share and a warm bed to stay in back in Hawaii.

Bruce: Alright, deal.

Kaito: So I’m curious; who’s after you?

Bruce: Juan Marcos, Esteban, and Isaac Comen. These three men came after me personally, but I assume their orders came from the boss.

Kaito: You should’ve told me you were running from them.

Bruce: You’re not one to question, remember?

Kaito: (Sighs) The leader of the group was going to be one of my recruits. I’m not sure what’ll happen if the two of you faced each other.

Hanru: Eventually, he’s going to find out you helped Bruce face his death, Kaito. You did just find out, so I think the best thing to do, is to be upfront about it. And come on, you’re Kaito Zonoda; what do you have to be afraid of?

Kaito: Yeah, I suppose you’re right.

Hanru: And Bruce, maybe after this job, you can clear your hit and move back with your daughters.

Bruce: I don’t know if I can face them again after what I did.

Hanru: … Well at least you’ll be a free man again.

Bruce: Yeah, there’s always that too.

Kaito: Look, you can stay here for the night Bruce. Hanru, you need to go back to your room and get you some from that slut. She wants you, man; you need to get in that.

Hanru: I got it; you’ll come get me tomorrow during your “Super friends” recruitment. (Stands up)

Kaito: Hey, don’t forget; your needs come first. (Gulps wine out glass cup) After you get yours, leave her out to dry, or let her finish herself.

Hanru: (Says in Japanese accent and bows) Yes, Kaito Sensei.

Kaito: Now get out of her before I get angry.

(Hanru leaves the room. As he walks down the hall, Natasha follows him.)

Natasha: Kaito is growing more aggressive. His happy-go-lucky attitude seems to have faded away like a devious smokescreen leading you in circles until you fall.

Hanru: Now the smoke is clearing and the truth presents itself. Kaito thinks he has control over me; he’s greatly mistaken.

(Hanru gets back to his room. Debbie quickly throws the covers over herself in a panic. Hanru closes the door and walks up to the side of her bed.)

Hanru: Hey, Debbie; I know you’re not sleeping.

Debbie: (Peaks her head out of the blanket) I was having a personal moment; don’t you knock?

Hanru: Not if it’s my room.

Debbie: (With an annoyed attitude, she hides back under the covers) Whatever, just leave me alone and let me sleep.

(Hanru puts his hand on Debbie’s shoulder that’s under the covers.)

Hanru: I think you’re very beautiful, Debbie.

Debbie: (Sighs) Please, Hanru; I’m not in the mood for your teasing right now.

(Hanru moves the covers from over Debbie’s face. The two of them look deep in each other’s eyes.)

Hanru: I really do think you’re beautiful.

Debbie: Do you want something from me, Hanru? Do you want to get in my underwear?

Natasha: (Excited) Yes, an opportunity; take it!

Hanru: No, Debbie. I don’t want sex from you.

Debbie: (Upset) Why don’t you? I know I’ve asked you this a million times already, but is there something wrong with me? Is it because of the hair on my legs? Cause while you were out I shaved. I shaved everything for you. Everything…

Hanru: I’m still a virgin, Debbie. I’m waiting to lose it to another virgin, or a girl I’m deeply in love with. Debbie, I’m sorry, but I know how much sex means to you and I can’t satisfy you in that way. That’s one of the main reasons we can’t be together.

Debbie: Oh so you pretty much want a girl like Jessica then.

Hanru: I’ve moved on from Jessica. One reason why I brought you out here was so she could lose her virginity to Chris. She loves him very much.

Debbie: (Chuckles) Yeah well Chris hates her. He thinks she’s annoying and all he wants to do is take her virginity, then dump her off somewhere. The house that they’re in right now is not even his. After Chris is done with her, he’s gonna move on to his real house and Jessica’s going to be left homeless.

(Hanru sits up and sighs.)

Debbie: Why don’t you go after your precious virgin? Leave me alone. (Throws covers over herself again.)

Hanru: Debbie, come with me for a walk around the strip. I wanna spend some time with you and show you a good time.

Debbie: No thanks; I feel like dealing with that punk Kaito or Lee!

Hanru: It’s just gonna be you and me, Debbie.

Debbie: I guess. It beats staying in this room depressed all night with nothing to do. Let me try out that new outfit you gave me. (Quickly gets out of bed and walks away)

Natasha: (Sits on opposite bed) She was very upset.

Hanru: She’s upset because of something else; it’s not just me or Jessica.

Natasha: You don’t have time to worry about her. Focus on this bank job.

Hanru: For now, I’m going to enjoy Vegas, mom. I’ll worry about stealing money tomorrow.

(Police station a day later)

(Ada and Henry sit at Ada’s desk going through paperwork.)

Ada: Ms. O’Dowd had the motivation, the dexterity, and she fits right into the gap when the victim was murdered. It’s gotta be her.

Henry: Yeah, but we questioned the lady over a dozen times and her alibi checks out like the grocery market. Witness and neighbors confirmed her being out at bingo that night.

Ada: Okay, so what if someone else wanted the victim dead and dressed up like Ms. O’Dowd to frame her?

Henry: It’s possible, but so are many highly unlikely things.

Ada: Are you going to help me with this or aren’t you?

Henry: I think we should just take a break.

(The Lieutenant walks up to the two of them and drops a file on the desk.)

Jennifer: We have ourselves one heck of a mystery here. Two women found dead in the restroom of a suburban home. The house didn’t belong to either of them. And this is where it gets freaky. One body was on the toilet, and one body was strapped to the ceiling. The woman on the toilet was wearing the cloths which belonged to the woman on the ceiling. Also, there was a stab wound in the ceiling victim’s stomach and the blood which came from that wound is on the white dress the toilet victim was wearing. We assume the toilet victim was poisoned because of the color of the skin and how fast the body is decomposing. Also, a note fell off the ceiling and landed next to the victim. It said; “Your twin sister misses you Alda”. You too let me know if you come up with anything. I’ll be in my office. (Walks away)

Ada: (Distracted by the file) Sure thing… LT…

Henry: Did you find something? What seems to have your attention?

Ada: Alda was the nickname my sister had for me when we were little.

Henry: (Whispers) Then why don’t you report that to the Lieutenant?

Ada: I can’t. If the Lieutenant knows I’m involved in this case, she might take me off. I need to know what this message means.

Henry: How do you know your sister did this?

Ada: I’m not sure it was her. But I’m motivated to finding out the truth.

(Las Vegas)

(Lee is driving a car in the middle of the Mohave Desert. A man is standing in the middle of the road waving his arms for Lee to stop. His car is smoking on the side of the road.)

Lee: Sorry, guy but I can’t afford to be slowed down right now.

(Lee rolls down the passenger window and throws a wallet of money at him. He keeps on driving.)

Lee: Hope that’s enough money to help you out, mister.

(Lee runs over a line of spike strips and his tires burst. The car swerves off the side of the road and comes to a hard stop. Lee takes deep breaths and sighs. A bullet flies through Lee’s shoulder and blood shoots out over the steering wheel.)

Lee: AHHHH! DANG IT!

(Lee pulls a gun out of the glove compartment and walks out of the car. He looks around but doesn’t see anyone. He gets shot in the leg from out of nowhere and falls to the ground screaming. The man’s face is never seen, but he stands up from the other side of the car and walks around to stand over Lee. Lee looks up at him and points his gun. The man has a very calm, yet devious voice. He wears a black tuxedo with a blue rose in the breast pocket.)

Lee: Why did you shoot me?!

Man: I am the Mindtwister. I control the minds of those I consider my subjects. I know who you really are, Leon.

Lee: You’re the Godfather, aren’t you?

Twister: The Godfather was too one of my pawns. I set him up to be here. I framed him for a murder I committed, and I set for his execution by Kaito’s hand. I control everything. And right now, I control your life.

Lee: Before I shoot you dead, tell me what that note meant. That note you left me said you waited for me but SHE showed up instead and had to die in my place.

Twister: I was talking about your Grandmother of course.

(Twister kneels down and presses his face against the gun. Lee pulls the trigger three times, but nothing happens.)

Twister: I removed the bullets already. We wouldn’t want you getting into any more trouble than you’re already in.

Lee: Fudge you, man. Stop playing games with me; now just tell me what you want from me. Do you wanna kill me, is that it?

Twister: Oh, Leon. If I wanted you dead you’d already be a part of my skeletal collection. But you know… Hanru is quite fond of you. I think you would be a good test subject for twisting his mind to my will.

Lee: Hanru is smart man. He’ll figure you out and he’ll kill you.

Twisted: Let’s hope he’s smart enough to do such a thing. Not even the police have been able to find me. Every time they get close to catching me, I frame many other serial killers ad expose them. I’ve been doing this for a long time now. I hope to go out with a bang now.

(He points his gun at Lee and shoots once. Lee appears to now be dead.)

Twist: Ada, I hope you got the present I sent you; cause you’re next.

(Office in Casino)

(Kaito, Hanru, and Bruce all walk into an office where many men are wearing suits. There is an old Englishman with a dark black suit and white hair sitting in the back of the room at the table farthest from the door. He raises his hand for 3 seconds and all of the men walk out of the room not saying a word. The last guy closes the door behind him. The three of them walk up the old man and sit in chairs close to him.)

Kaito: Zane, the Professor, Elfman! It’s been awhile.

Professor: No one’s called me that name in quite some time. Correct me if I am wrong, but do you wish for my assistance involving a job?

Kaito: A Heist; tomorrow; Bank of Nevada.

Professor: Amazing you tell me this on such short notice.

Kaito: I know how much you love spontaneity.

Professor: (Puts finger on lips) First tell me… How is it that this man Bruce Kirei, is still alive and in my presents right now?

Kaito: Bruce came to me last night. He’s agreed to help us in exchange for his hit to be called off.

Professor: Not interested.

Kaito: And he’ll give you his cut of the money we make during this robbery.

Professor: Still not interested. Do you not understand how rich I am? How many casinos and beach homes I own? I do not need more money.

Bruce: Then how about I bring you Isaac? Isaac owes you money for drugs he gave away for free to his friends. I’m sure you want him dead, right?

Professor: I agreed to let his debt to me go, just so long as he kills you, Bruce. I’m… not… interested.

Hanru: It sounds pretty interesting to me.

Professor: Excuse me, young man, who are you?

Hanru: I don’t have an alias yet, sir, but I think you should take Bruce up on his offer. Isaac wants to kill Bruce for his freedom, so why not let Bruce kill Isaac for his freedom? Whichever man stands alive, wins his freedom back.

Professor: Hmm… I haven’t thought of it that way. Perhaps I should do that. I’ll call off Esteban and Juan and let the two of you settle this like men; sound fair, Bruce?

Bruce: Indeed it does, sir.

Professor: But you still must do this bank job with us, understood?

Bruce: Yes, sir.

Kaito: So you’re on our team with this?

Professor: I have a personal vendetta with the owner of Bank of Nevada. Stealing his money will bring a great smile to my face.

Kaito: Alright, now we just need one more recruit and we’re all set for planning.

Professor: Who is this next recruit?

Kaito: Turner.

Professor: Turner?! I honestly don’t think he’ll go for this.

Kaito: I never take no for an answer; you know that, Professor. He will be a part of this team, or he’ll die refusing.

Professor: Alright, give me time to get my affairs in order then we shall discuss our plans.

Kaito: (Excited) Alright! Sounds like a plan!

(Turner is a man with short, spiky, black hair, and a cool-guy attitude. He has a friendly personality and a good sense of humor, but he also has his dark and threatening side. As he walks into the living room of his home and closes the door behind him, he turns to find Kaito, The Professor, Bruce, and Hanru are all resting on his furniture.)

Kaito: You should start locking your doors. There are a lot of crazies around here.

Turner: The only one crazy around here, is me, Kaito. (Sorts through papers of mail in his hands) I knew you were in town, so I thought I’d be a gentleman and let my old friends in for a little chat. I left the door unlocked on purpose.

Kaito: You were always the smartest out of all of us. I trust you know why I am here then?

Turner: You’re here for a heist. The Bank of Nevada has lots of wealth inside just up for grabs. The only issue is the owner of the bank. Don’t forget, he’s one of our former rivals, and don’t forget the power he has over us here in Las Vegas. (Throws mail on table and walk toward everyone else)

Kaito: (Angry) Las Vegas is my City! This is my territory; I am in control!

Turner: What exactly are you in control of, Kaito? Your time is spent in Miami, buying small businesses and wasting away all your money. It’s no wonder Mikhail turned his back on you.

Kaito: (Angry) Don’t you mention Mikhail to me. Mikhail may have had his flaws but he was still my friend!

Turner: That he was, Kaito. Mikhail did betray you and try to kill your family, but despite all of that, Mikhail had an even bigger agenda. Mikhail learned of someone secretly plotting against you and swiping your businesses right from under you. You haven’t even noticed, because Mikhail kept it secret from you, but someone has been buying out your businesses and the employees are being paid to keep their mouths shut about it. Telling you would’ve only made you angry. You would think irrationally, and lose control of your temper; resulting in you killing many people and eventually you being killed by me. To avoid all of this from happening, Mikhail kept you in the dark about everything. Mikhail has been working with crews outside of yours in order to get more information and find enemy secrets. Mikhail eventually got a call from the one buying your properties and a threat was made. Mikhail had to kidnap your sister Nicky and use her to get money from you so he could pay off the hit that was called on you. Mikhail made a mistake by being too committing and too devious. In the end, he lost himself. As he laid down dying; taking his last breath, he could’ve told you the truth, but he didn’t. He lost sight of his true goal and his mind was a haze when you killed him. I have been asked to kill you many times, but I’m on vacation right now.

Hanru: (Thinking) He must be a Hitman.

Turner: If you’re wondering if I’m an assassin, boy, you would be right.

Hanru: So people pay you to kill others.

Turner: I prefer the term, “get them out the way.”

Hanru: So you’ll pretty much assassinate anyone, just as long as you get paid right?

Turner: Right. In our business, many people die. It’s unfortunate, but that’s how it has to be. (Turns to Kaito) Kaito, this robbery is a huge mistake. By doing this job, you will only cause the deaths of you and your friends.

Kaito: No one is going to die, Turner. There’s $250,000,000,000 in that bank.

Turner: There’s actually $500,000,000,000,000. I’m like a hawk; I watch, see, and know everything. The bank’s security is over-the-top. There are security guards everywhere. The place is also spiked. Unlike most banks, if the camera detects a gun or if the security guard watching the monitors from a different room sees a gun, the alarm automatically goes off. Also, the vault is not located on the second floor. It’s in one of the center floors. The vault is also electronically secure so you will need 2 keycards and two people to simultaneously scan the cards. There are at least 2 security doors you have to open before getting to the vault. The two keycards used to open the doors do not fit with the actual vault door. The vault has its own key and electronic password. Weasels will have the cards in hand and will recognize anyone suspicious trying to get past them. Also, you’ll need to be an employee to access the center and top floors. Every employee has an ID they use to make the elevators work, so you will need to be escorted. Now, Kaito, after hearing the Intel, is this still something you wish to attempt.

Kaito: Five-hundred billion dollars is worth the trouble, I say. Let’s get to planning everything out. You’re the smart one, Turner, so in that case, you do most of the organizing. Remember, we do this job tomorrow. We all get our fair share; everyone’s happy.

(Kaito stands and walks up to Turner. He pats Turner on the shoulder twice.)

Kaito: Don’t over think unless it’s beneficial to getting the money.

(Kaito, Bruce, and Hanru walk out of the front door and Hanru closes it behind him.)

Turner: It’s amazing he’s lasted this long.

Professor: Kaito is very oblivious. He travels to Las Vegas to rob a bank without knowing its ins and outs or even its security. Not to mention his lack of knowing who exactly the owner of the bank really is. By the way; I’m very curious. How do you know so much about my bank’s security? Have you acquired some psychic abilities I am unaware of?

Turner: (Grins) A magician never reveals his secret.

(Miami)

(Ada and Henry walk into the bathroom where the victim’s from their case file were killed at. Ada searches around the toilet, on the ceiling and even in the bathtub for clues. The entire house is sparkling clean and there is a fresh smell of lemon spread through the home.)

Ada: Henry! I could really use your help right now. I’m not finding any clues in here.

(Henry is in the refrigerator drinking milk out of the carton and eating a cold Twinkie he found inside.)

Henry: I’m busy doing my own thing here! Sorry, partner. (Takes bite of Twinkie) Besides, if the message really was written for you, then only you’d be able to discover the clue!

Ada: You have a point! Thanks for your help. (Looks at pictures in the case file)

Henry: Yeah!

Ada: You’re a lazy cop; you know that?!

Henry: Correction; I am a lazy detective!

(Ada cracks a smile and chuckles. She notices something which captures her attention in the case file. Ada walks into the master bedroom and opens the sliding closet. She puts her hand on the top shelf and slides it all the way to the wall. She quickly jumps and pulls her hand out. She shakes her hand for about 4 seconds then she stomps on something crawling on the carpet. She calms down and sees it was a spider. Ada quickly reaches her hand in there again and feels a huge web. She digs deeper into the web and begins to feel a nest of eggs. She hears a pop sound. She tries to calm down but she’s shaking. She quickly reaches further in and hits the wall finally. She feels a metal handle on the wall. She grabs it tight and quickly yanks it out of the wall. The metal handle was connected to a small brown jewelry box. She throws the box on the floor quickly runs out of the room. As she’s shaking with fear, she washes off her entire arm in the tub. She begins to have a flashback of her as a little girl, playing with her sister in their bedroom.)

Ronda: This is our super, super, great secret, Alda! Because we are bestest sisters! (Hugs Ada tightly for 3 seconds)

Ada: (Sad) But what if daddy finds out, Wanda?

Ronda: I pwomise he will never find out. This is the biggest secret in the whole wide world, and the nuniverse! I promise the bwown will be in the corner in the very tip top of the closet. What’s inside only remains between us. Only take it for special things or nemergencies.

Ada: (Smiles) Ok, thank you big sister.

(Ada continues to wash her arm off and sniff. She was a flashback of her washing her arm off in the tub when she was little. Her sister is by her side helping her.)

Ada: (Holding in her tears) I got bit by a spider from the closet! I want to make sure the box was ok.

Ronda: Tell daddy you got bit doing something else. I don’t want him finding our secret.

(Present)

Ada: Ronda… what is it you’re trying to show me?

(Henry walks into the bathroom and sees Ada sitting by the bathtub upset.)

Henry: … Are you, okay?

Ada: My sister was here, Henry. I know it’s her that did this. It doesn’t make sense to me why she would do this. How is she still alive after all these years, and why did she wait until now to find me?

Henry: I’m afraid I can’t give you the answer to that, Ada.

Ada: We’ll just continue to investigate. I need to find my sister.

(Henry crosses his arms and silently walks out of the room without saying a word.)

Ada: Henry?

(Henry walks into the room and sees the box on the floor. He picks it up and dusts it off. Ada walks into the room and sees the box in his hand. She quickly walks up to him and gently takes the box away from his hands. She takes a few steps back.)

Ada: Only my sister and I know what’s in this box.

Henry: You wanna make the duo and tri and tell me the secret that’s inside?

Ada: I can’t sorry. Let’s take a break; I’m starving. (Leaves the room)

Henry: There’s some pretty good stuff here.

Ada: No! Two people died in this house; I’m not going to eat their food!

Henry: I did; and I’m as happy as a clam!

(Lawrence’s Apartment)

(Lawrence and Israel are sitting together in the living room talking.)

Lawrence: What are we going to do about my uncle?

Israel: Your uncle is working a case where random individuals are being poisoned. I know the ones responsible. There are a total of six sisters. I killed one of them myself. That only leaves 5 left. They’re coming after Hanru, me, and all the people close to us. Those 5 girls are very dangerous. Before I leave, I’m going to kill every one of them. Once I do that, I’m moving on.

Lawrence: I understand. (Hugs Israel) You and I have a deep bond of love for one another. But life is choosing to separate us. I hate we can’t be together, but this is how it must be.

Israel: Yeah it is. Let’s make love one last time before we go our separate ways.

(Las Vegas)

(Hanru and Kaito and sitting in Kaito’s room at the table having drinks. Hanru is drinking a green can of Arizona tea. Kaito is drinking a type of champagne right out the bottle.)

Hanru: I really don’t think this is safe, Kaito. This bank robbery is too dangerous and it’s too soon to attempt it.

Kaito: (Drinks out the bottle and loudly burps) Are you my advisor? No! So keep your mouth shut and don’t give me a reason to have to shoot you! (Drinks out the bottle again)

Natasha: (Stands behind Hanru and whispers in his ear) Kaito’s not really drunk. He’s only pretending to be drunk so he can have an accuse to not be sorry for what he said, to have control over how you think right now, and to make you feel unease and a bit scared. Kaito’s control issues are growing more aggressive; I’m pretty sure the rest of them know that.

Hanru: Kaito.

Kaito: (Angry) WHAT!

Hanru: Whoa, you need to calm down?

Kaito: What?

Hanru: Nothing, I’m sorry.

Kaito: No, no, no, I’m sorry, sometimes my ears go out and I mishear things. What is it you just said to me?

(Hanru begins to once again shake and tremble. He tries his best to hold in the anger trying to surface.)

Hanru: I said you need to calm down.

(Kaito throws the bottle against the wall and yells at Hanru with rage.)

Kaito: What! Did you forget who you’re talking to?!

Hanru: Did you forget-

(Kaito charges at Hanru and throws him down to the floor. Kaito points his gun at Hanru and begins laughing.)

Kaito: I am your boss. What did you forget that? Did you forget you were working for the mob! Don’t think you can talk to me any kind of way! When I say something, you don’t dare talk back to me, is that understood?

Hanru: No, Kaito, it’s not… Perhaps you should help me understand it better.

Kaito: (Shoots at the wall three times) You call me Mr. Zonoda! You’re worthless to me, you know that? I liked you when we first meet, but now… Now it’s just… (Sighs) What do I need you for? You’re related to cops! You can put me and my crew away for life if you wanted! I say having you around is more bad than good!

Hanru: You would be right, Kaito. I do have strong connections with police. And they know about you. If you kill me, they will take you and every one of your crewmates down.

Kaito: You think you’re a big shot now, right? Alright then. (Puts gun away and sniffs) I’m drunk right now is all, man, I’m sorry. Here let me give you a hand.

(Kaito reaches his hand out to help Hanru up. Hanru gets up himself.)

Kaito: You forgive me?

Hanru: You’re forgiven, Kaito. Just remind me never to be by you again when you’re drinking. (Leaves the room)

(Hanru and Natasha walk down the hall.)

Natasha: You controlled that demon inside you; I’m proud of you.

Hanru: Kaito is going to have to die soon. His thirst for control and manipulating others has gone too far.

(Natasha and Hanru enter the elevator and start to go down. Hanru closes his eyes and is a bit nervous.)

Natasha: You can’t really blame Kaito for his thirst, kid. What you don’t realize, is that thirst is within you as well. You never took control of anything in your life, and this is why. Kaito is the demon within you in human form. Kaito sees himself in your eyes. He senses his demon of control inside of you. This is the real reason why he wants you. This is the real reason why he recruited you.

Hanru: So that’s what I would be like if I let my demon of control come out? Oh man…

Natasha: You have been given a gift. That gift allows you to keep control of yourself. Never forget that. (Disappears)

(Hanru walks into his room. Debbie has her bag packed and is sitting alone on her bed. Hanru walks up to her. She’s very upset and a bit angry.)

Hanru: You’re leaving?

Debbie: (Stands and faces Hanru) Yeah you know, gosh. I can’t deal with this anymore, I really can’t.

Hanru: Did I do something wrong to you?

Debbie: Did you- did you do something wrong? (Chuckles) Gosh, for someone so smart, you sure are stupid sometimes. I don’t get how you can want that chick over me!

Hanru: I told you the reason why I couldn’t be with you and I already explained to you, nothing is going on between her and I. I’ve moved on and so has she.

Debbie: All I ever wanted in this life was sex. I could have any guy I wanted. I could use what I had between my legs to get whatever I wanted out of anyone! No one has ever turned me down; except you. You’re different from most people; you aren’t one to rush toward sex. And that’s what I like about you. I wanted you so bad, that I thought of a million ways to somehow get you to be attracted to me. And after all the thinking, I realized I haven’t made any moves. I took a hard look at myself and now… I realize how low and unimportant I am in this world.

Hanru: Hey, no, don’t say that; you’re important to m-

Debbie: Don’t say it! (Wipes tears from eyes) I have nothing in this life. Sex was my life. I now realize that sex won’t always work for everything. I have nowhere to live, I barely have any clothes. I’ve never had a mom to teach me how to be a lady! I’m sorry, Hanru, but I need to move on. I need to find out who I am. I really do need to.

Hanru: Debbie, I’m sorry, but I didn’t mean to-

Debbie: I know. I know… Just don’t say another word okay.

(Debbie wraps her arms Hanru’s neck gives him a long gently kiss. The two of them close their eyes and enjoy the long moment. Hanru opens his eyes. Debbie stops kissing him, then hugs Hanru. Her eyes remain closed.)

Debbie: Thank you for helping me.

(Hanru hugs her back. After about 8 seconds, they stop hugging. Debbie grabs her bag and walks past Hanru. She avoids any eye contact. When she gets to the door, she opens it and holds it.)

Debbie: The other night, when I was upset, it wasn’t because of Jessica. The truth is, I’ve grown quite fawned of you in this short time. And Kaito is a very unstable guy. He’s dangerous, Hanru. He’s something evil. I can see him in you. And I bet he sees it too. He wants you to be like him. He’s forcing you to turn to his dark ways.

Hanru: He’s my demon of power in human form, trying to suck me into the darkness…

Debbie: See, you’re smart. You get away from him while you still can. We both need to find out way in this world.

Hanru: Good luck, Debbie.

Debbie: You too. I hope you find a girl to love and protect you.

Hanru: Goodbye, Debbie.

(Debbie closes the door and leaves the room.)

Natasha: Are you really going to let her go out on her own?

Hanru: She’s moving on, Natasha; I need to move on as well. I need to… start by getting rid of Kaito.

Natasha: Good luck with that.

(Miami)

(It’s very late at night. Justin sits in his apartment nervously looking over case files and biting on his nails. He sits at his dining room table with the light dimmed over him. There is a knock on the door. Justin ignores it and continues looking. There is another knock; he continues to ignore it. There are then three loud bangs. Justin sighs. He answers the door and it’s Leo with a case of 4 beers.)

Justin: (Looks at beer) You know I stopped drinking.

Leo: I figured you need one after all that overworking you’re doing to your brain. (Walks into apartment)

Justin: (Closes door and sighs) I really don’t have time for this, dude. I’ve been up all night looking for clues in these files.

Leo: Alright, Justin, stop. You need to chill out and have yourself a beer. Your hair isn’t straightened, you’re eyes have wrinkles, and are bloodshot red. You probably haven’t slept in… let me guess: 2 or 3 months?

Justin: Close enough; since I got the promotion to homicide. (Crosses arms)

Leo: You’ve been grouchy lately too. Unwind, and break a few laws with me?

(Leo offers a beer to Justin. Justin hesitantly takes it and examines it and its ingredients.)

Leo: (Grins) There you go… Now ignore the ingredients. Just remove the cap… and slowly bring the bottle up to your lips…

Justin: What are you, my mistress trying to tempt me to drink poison?

Leo: Close; I’m your best friend tempting you to drink poison.

Justin: You’re a bad influence, you know that?

(Both chuckle. Justin opens up the beer and slowly takes a swallow of the beer. He has a sour face after the first drink.)

Leo: You’ll get use to it again, newbie. (Pats Justin on the shoulder)

(Leo walks over to the dining room table and looks at the case files.)

Leo: So did you find anything?

Justin: I did actually. (Stands next to Leo) These poisonings have happened before. An old lady was standing over the counter cooking carrots for her grandchildren. An unknown person snuck into the house and murdered the grandmother. It turns out, the grandmother tried to poison her grandchildren.

Leo: Can you tell me what happened to the grandmother?

Justin: Her throat was slit. After her throat was cut, a towel was held against her throat to prevent the blood from squirting everywhere. She was then injected with the poison she was going to use on her grandchildren. The poison slowed her heart rate and prevented too much blood from being squirted out. Personally, I think the poison was injected seconds before her throat was cut, but that’s not what the report says. The father of the children was out jogging one night. And no surprise, his bottle of water was poisoned. He dropped dead instantly. The mother was found murdered the same day in some bushes found far away from the father’s. And in the same area, the grandfather was found in a tree.

Leo: This just recently happened to the last three victims we found in that park.

Justin: Exactly. The story I just told you happened years ago. History is repeating itself. (Takes a sip)

Leo: (Takes a drink) What ever happened to the children?

Justin: The children were adopted by aunt and uncle. They too had a son. They were all murdered. The 6 original daughters were reported kidnapped and never seen again. It’s been 20 years since they were kidnapped, and now the murders are starting back up again. I think the daughters are killing now. I mean there are old men going into hospitals more often than they should be from heart attacks and strokes. What if those are purposely being done?!

Leo: Alright, alright, Justin, calm down; you’re getting too wild up over this.

Justin: (Defensive) I’m not getting wild up! I am just trying to be a good detective and follow what’s in my gut! My gut is telling me that these 6 sisters have been trained how to poison people for 20 years, and they are killing the same way their relatives have been killed. Look, the 6 sisters had 2 grandfathers! One was poisoned and put in a tree; the other divorced his wife because she accused him of being a child molester and touching his grandchildren! He ended up trying to have sex with one of the grandchildren and had a heart attack before he could go all the way through with it! In the case the little girl has stated. Her name was Kristen Gilbert.

Leo: (Surprised) Kristen Gilbert?!

Justin: Yeah! But she seems to have vanished off the face of the Earth!

Leo: We’ll talk about this tomorrow, Justin. You and I will see what we can find at the hospital tomorrow.

Justin: Are you serious?

Leo: I am.

(Justin hugs Leo tightly.)

Justin: Thanks, man. Thanks for being a friend and not thinking I’m crazy and overworking myself.

Leo: (Pushes Justin off) Oh I do, I just think you may be on to something here that’s worth checking out.

Justin: Yeah, thanks.

(Leo walks through the heavy rain and gets into his car and calls Lawrence on his cell phone. Lawrence is in his apartment lying on the couch; staring at the ceiling. He answers his phone depressed.)

Lawrence: Who is this?

Leo: It’s the man standing over you with the upper hand. Tell me what evidence you have about the connection between me and the death of your parents and I promise to keep my mouth shut about a certain name I know.

Lawrence: You really wanna do this now?

Leo: I know about Kristen Gilbert. She was your fallback girl after you and Israel separated. She’s also a killer with 5 other sisters. If I tell police about your connection with her, the police will have to keep an eye on you; mainly me. And who knows what kind of secrets I’ll find in that apartment of yours.

Lawrence: You wanna talk about Kristen; you come to my apartment. Other people can hear our conversation over the phone. (Hangs up)

(Pass the rain and across the street, a tinted black car sits. Inside is a man with headphones in his laptop recording the phone call. The man puts his headphones down and he is revealed to be Peter; the doctor from the hospital who’s friends with Nicky and knows of Hanru’s secret.)
