Hanru Sazuki

Hanru Sazuki Volume Two Chapter Nineteen: End of Domination (Summer 2012)

Hanru Narrating: There are many factors when dealing with control. Power is something we all must have, yet it’s something none of us truly have. When the thought of not having power tries and enters our mind, we create a barrier to make us believe that we have all the power. Sometimes, when we think we have all the power and we think we control the people around us, it blinds us from seeing the truth. It blinds us from realizing the possibilities that the ones we think we control actually control us and how we feel and act.

(Debbie is walking through the bright streets of Las Vegas. A black car parks beside her and the window rolls down. The man inside is Turner.)

Turner: If I didn’t know you, I’d think you were a prostitute.

Debbie: Sorry, but I don’t know you?

Turner: Too bad; I know you. You’re Hanru’s girl Debbie.

Debbie: Yeah, well me and Hanru aren’t really speaking right now.

Turner: I know, Debbie; I was listening in on your conversation. I’ve been keeping an eye on the boy; you just happen to be around him most of the time.

Debbie: Yeah whatever. Just leave me alone, please. (Turns around)

Turner: Alright here’s the deal. You’re homeless; you have nowhere to go. The way I see it, you’re a teenage bum wondering the cold streets of sin city like a blind abandoned puppy. No one here will help you. Prices are too high out here, so starting from the bottom and slowly working your way up to the top is not gonna happen. Now you can take a ride with me and I can help you out, or you can sit on a corner alone and eventually turn to prostitution and have some pimp smacking you around for bringing him $5 short of his normal pay.

Debbie: (Turns to Turner and crosses her arms) You know nothing about me, okay. Don’t think you know what choices I will make for my life! You just stay out of my business and leave me alone!

Turner: Taking and ruining lives is what I do for a living, little girl. I don’t have a problem leaving you here or even putting a bullet through your brain for that matter. But for once I feel like taking a new approach on things. I’m trying to save a life rather than take one.

Debbie: You think you can help me? (Thinks for a few seconds) Fine. I’ll give you a chance. I mean, I have nowhere else to go anyway.

Turner: (Grins) Then get in; you’re burning up gas.

Debbie: You better not rape me or anything! That’s totally not cool!

Turner: No worries. My raping days are over. Relax I’m only joking. Get in.

(Miami, Lawrence’s apartment)

(Lawrence sits on the couch in his dark living room. He stares out the window and watches the raindrops fall from his window. He’s in a dark place. His cell phone rings. He answers right away without looking at the caller ID.)

Leo: Open the door, chump; I’m outside.

(Lawrence hangs up the phone and walks over to the front door to unlock it. Leo walks in. The two of them walk over to the couches and sit. There is 5 seconds of awkward silence.)

Leo: You gonna say something, or are we gonna just sit around and start painting our nails all night?

Lawrence: Look, Leo, I suggest you back off right now, before you see or experience something you wish you hadn’t.

Leo: Is that a threat; cause I’m not scared of you.

Lawrence: Oh you probably should be, uncle. You’ve done so much dirt in your past. Then you used more dirt to cover up the dirt you’ve already done. You just keep burying and burying, piling and piling, more and more dirt. Until eventually, you covered away everything from your past. No one sees you, but I see you. I know who you really are. I know what’s behind that mask you wear to fool those around you into thinking you’re just an innocent guy.

Leo: (Chuckles) You think you know me?

Lawrence: I know I know you. You didn’t kill all loose ends, Leo. There are still a few out there who know the truth. There are at least 4 of us.

Leo: (Nods) I see. Well whatever you think you know, is true. You need to mind your own business before you get hurt.

Lawrence: Is that what you said to your sister before she was “killed” in a seemingly “random” home invasion.

Leo: You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Lawrence: I know what I’m talking about; my sources are pretty reliable. You’re the one having a hard time accepting that for once, you’re not the one in control.

Leo: (Smiles) I’m confident I cut all loose ends. I’m also confident in revealing the connection between you and Kristen Gilbert.

(Israel walks out from the shadows of the dark apartment. She sits down on the couch beside Lawrence. Her face cannot be seen.)

Israel: Leo. I’m sure by now you know about me killing a cop, and a civilian in an alleyway. You should know that I am a murderer.

Leo: (Smiles) A confession. I think it’s best we continue this conversation down at the station.

Israel: I’m not going to jail, Leo.

Leo: Don’t make me take my gun out now, Israel. (Places hand on gun) Now you can let me take you in quietly, or I can treat you like an everyday criminal and force you down on the ground.

Israel: I don’t care that you’re my lover’s uncle, if you threaten to arrest me again, I will not hesitate to kill you right now.

Leo: Now to me, that sounds like a threat to an officer.

Israel: It’s not a threat; it’s a promise.

Lawrence: Leo, it’s best you don’t play chicken when it comes to her threats; I promise, you will lose.

Leo: … Yeah, okay. (Releases gun) What is it you want from me, Israel? Why have you come into this conversation?

Israel: The woman you are looking for is dead. She was murdered and her body was properly disposed of. She has five other sisters. These five sisters are personally coming after me and those who are close to me. I will kill all five of them myself. You’ve been working their cases actually, Leo. These five girls are the ones who have been poisoning random people throughout the city. I promise you, I will take them off the streets my own way. I just need you to trust me. Steer the police’s attention somewhere else- somewhere away from me. I will kill every single one of these women, and bring them to justice.

Leo: Who do you think I am? You just confessed a murder to law enforcement. I’m sorry, but I’m bringing you in. I’m telling the police everything I’ve learned about tonight.

Lawrence: (Angry) And if you do that, I will tell the police about all of the murders you setup. You and Oliver are exactly the same! Both of you work with the police, but try to control justice by killing the criminals you think don’t deserve to live! The only difference is you hired other people to kill for you; Oliver killed people himself and blamed it on other people. He knows how to setup DNA and frame others.

Leo: (Angry) What proof do you have?!

Lawrence: The proof I have… are my parents…

Leo: (Surprised) What…?

Lawrence: That’s right… Me and Hanru’s parents are still alive. You tried to have them killed. But they didn’t die. I was able to meet my mother again last year. She woke up from the coma she was in. The first thing she asked me was “What happened to Hanru after he was stabbed in his heart.” I told her Hanru was fine.

Leo: My sister…

Lawrence: Your sister had nothing to say about you. She hates you, Leo.

Leo: It wasn’t my fault.

Lawrence: It was your fault! Hanru was stabbed in the chest as a baby with a sword. My father and mother were both shot and were put in comas. Helena and I were with Uncle Kwan in the back when it all happened. He kept us calm and quiet for as long as he could. But after the first gunshot, the three of us rushed out and witnessed him shoot our mother. Helena and I rushed over to make sure we were okay. Kwan didn’t want us to get involved, so he grabbed the two of us and rushed us into the back room. While Helena and I were being carried away, we witnessed Hanru get stabbed in his chest, and we witnessed our mother being shot again. I remember everything! I was just a little boy, but I was old enough to not be able to mentally block out that experience.

Leo: I see…

Lawrence: Now, you steer away the police from Israel, and I promise to keep everyone’s mouth shut. (Offers a handshake) Do we have a deal?

(Leo stares down at Lawrence’s hand for a few seconds. He looks at Lawrence. Lawrence patiently waits for Leo to reply. Leo quickly gets up and storms out the door. He slams it on his way out.)

(The next morning in Las Vegas)

(The Professor and Turner are having a discussion in a very expensive restaurant. Neither of them has gotten their food yet.)

Professor: Kaito plans to rob my bank. Perhaps we can use this to our advantage and take him out. Kaito only believes in the power of himself and money. He thinks his followers obey him because he gives them money and scares them into listening to him. The truth is; I actually own his grunts. Kaito is all alone and doesn’t even know it.

Turner: So if Kaito has no back up, taking him out won’t be a problem.

Profession: Correct. There will be no issues to follow.

(Miami)

(It is late. Jessica and Chris are cuddled up on the couch together. Chris lies behind Jessica with his arm around her waist; Jessica lies in front of him and pretends to sleep.)

Chris: (Whispers) Baby? Baby, are you up?

(A few minutes later, Chris sneaks away from Jessica and hides in the restroom. He turns the lights on and makes a call on his cell phone.)

Chris: Hey, bro. (5 second pause) Nah, I haven’t done it with her yet. I can tell she wants to do it with me though, but I still have the house to myself a few more days. I figured, why not wait till the lease is up, and then get rid of her? (5 second pause) No, I can assure you I’m not starting to like her. The only thing interesting about her is her virginity. (3 second pause) I’m not lying to you, I’m not. Look, I just want… what? (8 second pause) Seriously?! So I only have one night to do this? (Sighs) Alright then; I’ll get on it right now; or… she’ll get on it (Laughs). We’ll talk tomorrow, bro. (Hangs up phone)

(Chris walks into the living room. Jessica is on her back; taking up all the space on the couch. Chris stands over her and sighs. He taps Jessica on her leg twice. She opens her eyes.)

Chris: Get undressed; I have plans for you.

(Jessica smiles and quickly jumps off of the couch. Chris’ cell phone rings again.)

Chris: Give me one more minute; sorry.

(Chris walks back into the bathroom and closes the door.)

Chris: What is it now? (7 Seconds of silence) Are you serious, now? (Sighs) Fine, but you owe me for this.

(Chris is now standing in front of Jessica while she sits on the couch disappointed.)

Chris: I’m sorry, Jessica, but it’s a family emergency. We’ll maybe do this tomorrow, okay?

Jessica: (Looks down sad) Yeah…

(Chris quickly leaves the house and slams the door closed.)

Jessica: Bye…

(Las Vegas)

(Debbie is sitting alone and soaking her feet in Turners pool late at night. Turner opens the back door and silently walks over to her.)

Turner: You all good?

Debbie: (Stares at the pool) Yeah… Um… Hanru was nice enough to buy me some clothes and make-up and personals for me when we first came to Vegas. I sold most of it to raise enough money to pay you so you can… do what you do best.

Turner: How much did you make?

Debbie: $800. Hanru spent about a thousand but I couldn’t get as much money selling it as I did when he bought it.

Turner: That’s one of the cons of sales. Unfortunately, 800 isn’t even 1/4 of my regular amount. (Kneels down to Debbie) You need to understand who you’re asking me to take out here. You’re asking me to kill the leader of a- you’re asking me to kill a don. You should know how much of an impact that can be.

Debbie: I don’t care. All I want is for Hanru to be safe. Kaito’s going to kill him eventually; I just want to do something to help not let that happen. I’ve only known Hanru a short time, but I feel this connection to him- this really deep connection.

Turner: Can I tell you something…? I don’t care.

(Debbie and Turner look at each other. Turner smiles and stands back up.)

Turner: You bring me another 800 and I’ll do the hit for you.

Debbie: Thank you.

(Turner smiles at Debbie and then walks away. Debbie stares back down into the pool and continues to think. The quietness of the night is suddenly interrupted by the loud splash of Turner jumping into the poll and splashing all over Debbie. Turner begins laughing.)

Debbie: (Smiles) Oh you better be so glad this pool is heated!

Turner: And what if it wasn’t, huh? What would you do about it?!

Debbie: I would get you back!

Turner: Oh really?!

Debbie: Yeah!

Turner: You would get me back?

Debbie: Did I stutter?

Turner: Yeah, you did!

Debbie: Then you heard me twice!

(Turner reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small bag of ice.)

Debbie: Wait… is that ice? Are you still wearing your clothes?

Turner: Nothing in life is in our control, sweetie. Life is spontaneous and random. You need to learn how to always handle yourself and have a plan for when spontaneity smacks you in the face.

(Turner throws a piece of ice at Debbie’s face.)

Debbie: Owe! (Turner throws another at her but she blocks it) Hey, stop it!

Turner: Life’s not gonna stop hitting you with random stuff; begging won’t help you. (Throws two more pieces)

Debbie: Okay seriously, you’re pissing me off.

Turner: So what are you gonna do about it? Life keeps coming at you, none-stop. Do you just keep taking the hits until life has no more to throw at you and you die, or do you attack it head on while there’s still some life left for you?

Debbie: (Angrily gets out of the pool and rolls up pants) Oh, you wanna know what I would do?! I’ll show you what I would do!

Turner: What are you doing?

(Debbie charges at Turner full speed and jumps into the pool. Turner tries to swim away from Debbie, but Debbie grabs on to his neck with her arm and tries to take the bag of ice away from him. The two of them splash around and struggle of the bag of ice.)

Debbie: Give me that!

Turner: No, I don’t think so, doll-face!

Debbie: Give me it!

(Debbie grabs the bag then quickly swims away. She throws three pieces of ice at him, and then the two of them start to get quiet. Debbie is breathing a bit hard.)

Turner: You did well, kid. You were defenseless and had nothing from the beginning, but you eventually fought back and succeeded by seizing something stronger and greater than you are. I was life throwing obstacles at you and trying to make you give up and run away. But you awakened that fire within you and you did not fear the obstacles thrown at you by life. You charged in and you were able to take control of the obstacles and prevent life from throwing anything else at you.

Debbie: Just to be clear, the ice pieces are the obstacles, right?

Turner: (Chuckles) Yeah. See, you’re smart. Just remember why you live okay. Remember why you fight to stay alive. I know that right now, you may be thinking to yourself about how you don’t have any reason at all for living and that you’re just nobody or nothing, but everyone has a purpose; even you. And deep down, some part of you knows this. It may not be aware to you right now, but you know you’re here for a reason. That’s why you got into the car with me, and that’s why you’re trying so hard to pay for Kaito’s execution. You have a reason to continue on.

Debbie: Yeah, I’m just not feeling it.

(Turner splashes a big wave at Debbie’s face.)

Turner: (Grins) Did you feel that?!

Debbie: You’re a butt; you know that?!

Turner: I know you are, but what am I.

Debbie: Seriously? Are we back in middle school again?!

Turner: (Splashes her and swims away) Yep!

Debbie: I’m going to splash you back! (Chases Turner)

Turner: You can’t get me if I’m underwater! (Goes under)

(Kaito’s Office)

(LJ walks into Kaito’s office and sees Kaito’s advisor Shido sitting in Kaito’s chair. LJ gets startled.)

LJ: My bad; didn’t know anyone was in here?

Shido: Then why bothering entering?

LJ: Well…

Shido: Please, come in, close the door, take a seat, have a drink with me.

(Shido reaches under the desk and pulls out two wineglasses and a bottle of vodka. LJ closes the door and stands in front of Shido at the desk. Shido pours both glasses and gently sets the bottle over to the side. Shido begins to smell the Vodka.)

Shido: The Vodka is fresh. Fresh is okay for me, but I prefer messes.

(Shido gently grabs the bottle and slowly places it on the floor. Shido swipes everything off Kaito’s desk and all over the floor. He swallows his glass of Vodka whole then smashes the glass on the table with his bare palm.)

LJ: You uh… got a little something…

Shido: Oh you mean my hand? That’s only blood. (Grins and stares LJ in the eyes) Blood never hurt anyone. Flies and cannibals treat blood like a snack. It’s good for your diet if more iron is what you need.

LJ: (Puts glass on table and looks down) Right, okay… so, Mr. Shido, I’m sorry to have bothered you. (Stands up)

Shido: Sit down.

(LJ nervously sits down. He feels awkward.)

Shido: LJ’s your name, correct? What is your biological name?

LJ: Lawrence Lloyd Johnson.

Shido: That’s a sweet name. I knew a woman names Johanna Johnson. She was one of my earlier victims. She was a crack whore who tried to set me and Kaito up for death. We survived of course, but she didn’t. She never had a chance. (Stares at the floor) Her face was so wonderful. The way her eyes opened up, the way her fear began to build up as that blade came closer and closer to penetrating her flesh. I stopped of course. I didn’t want to stab her dead, then chop her body parts into tiny pieces and send them off to her family. Instead, I just used an electric saw to cut her body up into little pieces while she was still alive. She surprisingly made it till the third limp. But a sudden shock of electricity woke her up long enough to feel the pain of me jamming that saw into her gut and shredding her insides. I laughed and indulged… (Looks at LJ and rocks back and forth as he smiles) I tasted blood that night. It was oh so sweet.

(LJ awkwardly sits speechless and scared. Shido smiles at LJ.)

Shido: Kaito and I have been through some pretty deep stuff together; only I was the only one getting my hands dirty when it came to disposing of certain individuals.

LJ: I think I better go now. You’re really starting to freak me out.

Shido: (Chuckles) I like that about you.

LJ: I’m sorry?

Shido: I like your fear of me. It reminds me of why I continue on living.

(LJ sits quietly.)

Shido: What was your reason for coming in here, LJ?

LJ: I came in here to get some ideas for repainting the room. I was thinking a dark red color.

Shido: I see. That red paint is gonna cost you an arm and a leg, and maybe even a head; if you know what I mean. Don’t worry; I won’t be the one charging you.

LJ: Who will be charging me?

Shido: Workers who specialize in these sorts of things- many, many workers. You have a family. I always thought they were special to you. Will they continue to be special even after you’ve paid in full and have nothing left?

LJ: What else can I do; I don’t have any other option. My family, my daughter, and my possibly future wife are not safe as long as he’s around.

Shido: Kaito’s wanted by many, yet hated by many. You must understand this and use this to your advantage. But you must also think of the consequences of doing so. (Grabs Vodka bottle and begins drinking out of it)

LJ: So, what, you’re saying I should just wait?

Shido: (Stops drinking) I may be Kaito’s advisor but I am also the one controlling his mind and thoughts. With just one phone call, I can send Kaito out on a rampage. It’ll be him against the world.

LJ: I love that idea.

Shido: Kaito doesn’t understand the boy Hanru. Kaito does not understand why he’s a part of his organization. Hanru is a lost boy who doesn’t know a thing about what’s really going on. Before he gets himself killed, I will take matters into my own hands.

LJ: What makes Hanru so special to where you want to save his life?

Shido: Hanru interests me on a spiritual level. My spirit is attracted to his. It’s only fitting I test him in one of my mind games.

LJ: Mind games?

Shido: Are you familiar with the Mind Twister.

LJ: I am. He’s a very infamous serial killer who seems to be unknown to the world. He’s a web celebrity with a very unimaginative name.

Shido: I’m sure you know by now that I am he.

LJ: What?

Shido: LJ. You must understand how dangerous I am. I am not alone in this world like Kaito is; I do have faithful followers. If you are to get involved in anything involving our works, we will murder you and your family in cold blood. We will not start with your daughter; we will start with your girlfriend. We will slowly kill her and make your daughter watch. Your daughter will cry tears and screams and desperately try to look away from this gruesome act. But if she were to do that, her eyelids will be cut open and she will be forced to watch her mother die. Then we will beat your daughter within an inch of her life and make her suffer. You will watch. Once we’re done with her, we will kill you and leave you with the painful thoughts of not knowing whether or not your sweet baby is going to life of die. Your soul will not move on, for it will be trapped in the thought of not knowing her fate. I will agree to not let this happen, just so long as you stay out of me and my followers’ business. Focus on your family and leave the life of crime behind.

LJ: After what you just said to me, you really think I’m going to give you the chance to leave this room alive and tell your people I was here?

Shido: They already know you’re here, son. I’m letting you know right now that the call to Kaito will be made by me right now. I suggest you stay cool and listen in on the words spoken.

LJ: After this, you and I are done! Do you understand!

Shido: I’m making the call now. I suggest you shut up and listen.

(Las Vegas)

(Kaito opens his room door and sees Hanru standing in the doorway.)

Kaito: Hanru… You seem well. (Walks away)

(Hanru walks into the room and closes the door. Natasha stands beside Hanru with a look of uncertainty.)

Natasha: You don’t know what his reaction will be; this isn’t a good idea.

Hanru: Kaito. I came here to give you my two week notice; although I’d rather it not take 2 weeks for my request to take place.

(Kaito stands in the bathroom checking out his suit in the mirror. He seems relaxed.)

Kaito: Oh really? And uh… what brought you to make such a decision?

Hanru: I don’t feel comfortable working with you anymore.

Kaito: (Brushing hair) I see. Is this about that whole gun in your face thing? I told you I was drunk.

Hanru: It doesn’t matter whether or not you were drunk. This isn’t the last time you’re going to blow up. For my own safety, I think it’s best we go our separate ways.

Kaito: I worked hard to get you to join in my crew. You can’t expect me to be fine with you just up and going.

Hanru: What reason do you have for keeping me around, Kaito?

(Hanru looks over at the couch and sees Kaito’s cell phone vibrating.)

Kaito: You have special talents. You’re a kid with a gift. Things are a bit slow right now, but we’ll find something for you to do. You just need patience is all.

(Kaito stands in the doorway of the bathroom and stares at Hanru with a fake smile.)

Natasha: There’s no mistaking that look in his eyes. He plans to murder you. His mentality is growing unstable. You better kill him before he kills you.

Hanru: Goodbye, Kaito. It was nice getting to know you.

Kaito: (Chuckles) So just like that, huh? You really think you can just walkout and everything can just go back to normal? Did you forget; I own you.

(There is a knock on the door. Hanru quickly opens it.)

Maid: Room service?

Kaito: No thank you!

Hanru: (Grins at the maid) We would love room service, thank you. Please come in.

Maid: (Smiles) Thank you; you’re such a gentlemen.

(The maid comes in with a cart of food. Hanru and Kaito both give each other dirty looks. Hanru closes the door behind her.)

Kaito: hey, I appreciate the room service, but I didn’t order anything. Take it back.

Maid: I understand you don’t have any orders, Kaito, but I do.

Kaito: (Nervous) Who are you.

(A gunshot comes out of nowhere and hits Kaito in the shoulder. Kaito falls to the ground. He quickly crawls to the bathroom. A man crawls out from under the food cart wearing an all tan suit and a tan hat. He is a very handsome black man. He brushes off his suit and looks back at Hanru with a grin.)

Hanru: Who are you?

Man: Many know me by my street name: Gellar.

Hanru: (Surprised) G-ellar?! But you’re dead! Your death was the first homicide I’ve ever investigated!

Gellar: Surprise; that wasn’t the real me.

(Kaito opens his shirt and reveals his bullet proof vest. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a black pistol. He makes sure it’s loaded and he sits down with his back pressed against the door. Gellar is making sure his pistol is loaded.)

Hanru: Gellar, Why are you here?

Gellar: Jason confronted me a few weeks ago and gave me orders to start investigating Kaito around the time you joined him. I reported you to Jason and he informed me of who you were.

Hanru: So you’re here to help me?

Gellar: I’m here to kill Kaito is all. Why hasn’t he come out yet?

Hanru: Wait, has Jason recreated his old group?

Gellar: Jason’s group never split. Natasha is the only one missing.

Hanru: W-wait, missing? Natasha is dead. She was shot 30 times in the chest; I was there!

Gellar: She used thin body armor and blood packs. Her body armor wasn’t very strong so after she was shot a few of the bullets may have made contact with her skin.

Hanru: So, Natasha is still alive?

Gellar: We’re all alive.

Hanru: So you mean to tell me Oliver’s alive too?

Gellar: You’re friends with his daughter Israel, aren’t you?

(Kaito slowly walks outside the door. He and Gellar point their guns’ at each other.)

Kaito: Jason and his crew have been after me for years now! I thought they all died. I was obviously wrong I see. (Looks at Hanru) I should’ve known you were a part of this.

Hanru: You may wanna check your phone, Kaito; it’s been vibrating since I got here.

Kaito: I’ll call ‘em back.

Hanru: Doubt it.

Kaito: Shut up!

Gellar: What do you wanna do here, Kaito? Either way you look at it, you’re going to die tonight.

(Someone bangs on the door.)

Cop: POLICE! Is everything ok in there; I heard gun fire in there!

(Gellar and Kaito intensely stare at each other! They both slowly lower their guns and put them away. The cop continues to bang.)

Cop: I know you’re in there; I heard you talking! Now if you don’t open this door now, I’m going to have to force my way in and call for backup!

Kaito: Hold on, let me get a shirt on!

(The maid and Gellar both go into the closet to hide. Gellar tosses Hanru his gun before closing the door. Hanru opens the door for the officer. The cop is wearing a muscle shirt and boxers. He has a gun in one hand and his badge in another.)

Hanru: (Thinking) He must be off duty.

Cop: Do you mind explaining to me why you have a gun in your hand?

Hanru: My step father was curious as to how well his new body armor would work.

(Kaito quickly unbuttons his shirt and reveals his armor. The cop peaks into the apartment and sees the armor Kaito’s wearing. Kaito smiles and waves at the cop standing in the doorway. The cop walks into the apartment.)

Cop: Sir-

Kaito: I know, I know, I’m sorry, officer. I was just eager to try it you know, and I was teaching my son how to shoot is all. There’s no crime in being a good father, is there? Plus, how often is it a hard-working citizen like me gets shot and is able to try his gear out to make sure he hasn’t been ripped off?

Cop: No, sir, it isn’t a crime to be a father, but it is a crime not to have a warrant for a firearm, and it is illegal for a minor to hold a gun.

Hanru: I’m over 18.

Cop: Let me see some ID then please.

Hanru: I actually don’t have it.

Kaito: Don’t have it?! Who comes to Vegas and leaves their ID back at home?!

Hanru: My bad, father. Next time I won’t forget it.

Cop: I can tell something shady is going on here, but I am on vacation with my wife and two daughters. I don’t want there to be any problems here and I would like the assurance of making sure my family will be safe. Can I trust you to put the gun away and make sure this doesn’t happen again?

Kaito: You have our word.

(Kaito smiles and walks toward the officer and buttons shirt.)

Kaito: Here, let me walk you to your room. I’ll let you know, I’m not a dangerous guy.

Cop: No, sir, I think it’ll be best if no more words were spoken between the two of us.

(Kaito pats the cop on the shoulder twice then walks out the door.)

Kaito: You’ve got nothing to worry about; it’s just a harmless walk down the hall.

Cop: (Turns to Kaito and sighs) Sir-

Kaito: (Intense) Please; I insist. I know what it’s like to be worried for your family’s safety. I don’t want you to worry.

Hanru: My father never takes “no” for an answer, so you might as well just let him walk you at least half way there.

Cop: My room in on a lower floor. You can ride down the elevator to my floor, but that’s about it.

Kaito: (Excited) Ah, this is fine! I was headed downstairs anyway. Let me just get my phone.

(Kaito’s phone vibrates in his pocket.)

Kaito: Oh, look at that; I had it on me the whole time. (Chuckles) Alright let’s go.

Cop: Alright.

Hanru: Hey, dad, we were supposed to have father-son time today, remember? You asked me to go with yo-

Kaito: (Cuts off and looks Hanru in the eyes) I don’t remember saying anything like that! You just stay here and find that bullet you shot at me. We wouldn’t want the maids to find it and report it to the police. That would be the second disaster of my life. The first would be the day you were born. When you first came into my life, you were all good. Then you just became a pain in my rear (Laughs). Your mother is lucky she’s dead ‘cause now she doesn’t have to deal with you (Laughs harder). I almost wished I killed her myself for birthing such a disappointment of a son; and of course for being such a nagging whore (Laughs louder)!

Cop: Alright, I think that’s enough, sir.

Kaito: Hey, son, may that nagging broad of a mother of yours rest in peace (Laughing hard)

(Hanru and Kaito both burst out laughing. Hanru holds his gut and bends over.)

Hanru: Ah man, dad; I totally agree with you 100%. Boy you said it! (Continues to laugh hard)

Kaito: Alright you find the empty shell casing alright?! Good boy; I’ll have a treat for you when I get back.

(Kaito and the cop close the door. Hanru stops fake laughing after they leave; his face grows red with anger.)

Hanru: (Thinking) He has no idea what line he’s just crossed!

(Gellar and the maid walk out of the closet.)

Gellar: Killing Kaito will just be that much more difficult now.

Hanru: Gellar. You deliver a message to Jason for me. You tell Jason that I will handle Kaito my own way! Gellar, you stay out of my way. Right now, I’m on the urge of just destroying everything in my path to get to Kaito! He doesn’t know my mother.

Gellar: Of course he doesn’t know her. He doesn’t even know she’s still alive.

(The room grows silent. Hanru slowly turns around to look at Gellar.)

Hanru: (Surprised) She’s alive?!

Gellar: You weren’t aware of that?

Hanru: No I wasn’t aware of that!

Gellar: Kayla was given an anonymous letter. She was told to secretly deliver the news to you. LJ was told to tail her and make sure she did as instructed.

Hanru: Kayla Elicio you mean? Kayla shot at me and Israel a few weeks ago in broad daylight when I was leaving the Godmother’s house! She tried to kill me instead!

Gellar: She’s a very emotional woman. She has an obsession with Allen. She blames you for his disappearance.

Hanru: Well this would explain how she found me. Where is she now?

Gellar: It doesn’t matter. You need to focus on Kaito Zonoda right now. I know how you feel. I know you want to kill him yourself. So how are you going to do it?

Hanru: I have connections.

Gellar: You mean Turner?

Hanru: How long have you been following me?

Gellar: Long enough. I’ll give you a ride to see Turner tomorrow alright? Right now, you need to just cool off and get your head together. You can’t think straight at the moment.

Hanru: Right, tomorrow.

(Kaito is in the back of his limo. His bodyguard, Koroshi is driving. Kaito finally answers his phone after 13 missed calls. Kaito is extremely angry.)

Kaito: You keep blowing my phone up like we’re in World War 2! What is it you want?!

Shido: (Mellowed) Kaito, as your advisor, it is my job to… advise you.

Kaito: WHAT DO YOU WANT, SHIDO!

Shido: I don’t want anything because I already have it. Everything you think you own is mine; your crew, your home, your money. It all belongs to me. Even your life is in my hands. Just by giving an order, I can have your brains be shot out of your head in broad daylight, and no one would know a thing about who did it.

Kaito: Now is really not the time for your jokes, Shido! I am infuriated about this kid! I’m going to Turner’s house tomorrow. The Professor and Turner were supposed to have a meeting then. I’ll just whip both of them out on the spot, then I’ll take a private jet back to Miami.

Shido: That bank you were planning to rob is owned by The Professor. Kaito, you’re not understanding that the meeting tomorrow is a set up to have you killed.

Kaito: Wait a minute, how do you know this?

Shido: Because I am working with the Professor. See after you’ve been killed by the very men you called your family, everything you’ve worked for your entire life will be sold to him. Your men, and your empire will all be gone. You must realize, now, Kaito, that you have no friends. Your old assistant Mikhail was a true friend to you. He just temporarily lost sight of his true goals. All he wanted was to protect you. He loved you like a brother. But he’s dead now- in hell saving a special spot for you, Kaito. I just wonder who’s going to be the one to kill you, Kaito:-Me or the kid.

Kaito: You got is all wrong; I OWN THIS WORLD! What I say goes; GOT THAT?!

Shido: How’s about a warning shot, Kaito?

(Three semi-automatic sniper bullets are shot through the roof of the Limo. Kaito gets scared and ducks for cover.)

Shido: I bet you’re shaking right now, Kaito. For once in your life you feel powerless. You feel scared. Your hands tremble and your heart beats at a hundred miles an hour. You’re breathing gets heavy; you begin to sweat. I feel your fear from here, Kaito. I only wish I was there in person to see it.

Kaito: You have my word, Shido… You have my word that I’ll kill you.

Shido: I wonder, Kaito, can you kill me faster than I can kill your wife, huh? Oh and let’s not forget your teenage son. Oh and the baby you have on the way.

Kaito: What?

Shido: Yeah, your wife is expecting any day now. Maybe I should stop by her house and give her a surprise Caesarean section; if you’re not smart enough to know what that means, it’s a C-section. I have my own personal surgical tools. I can cut her open, remove her baby, and I don’t know, maybe feed it to a dingo or something. (British accent) “Oh no, a dingo ate my baby.” (Normal) You know me, Kaito. You know I’ll do it.

Kaito: (Laying on floor about to cry) You won’t take my family from me! I won’t let you touch them!

Shido: Go ahead and make your list of people you wanna kill, because by the end of the week, you will be dead, Kaito, I promise you.

Kaito: I suppose I should start on the list now then… I’ll go pay Turner a little visit. I know better than to mess with you, old friend. Consider your name officially off the list.

Shido: That’s my boy. You go have fun killing now, you hear. (hangs up)

(Kaito yells at the top of his lungs and throws his cell phone out of the window.)

Koroshi: (Rolls window down) Sir, is everything okay? I tried to speed out of the area as fast as I could after I heard the gunshots. Are you unharmed, Mr. Zonoda?

Kaito: Take us someplace deserted, koroshi- where no one can find us. You and I need to have a little talk.

Koroshi: As you wish, sir. (Rolls window back up)

(Kaito sniffs. He sits back down on the chair with a look of a killer in his eyes. He screams again at the top of his lungs!)

(Kaito’s office)

Shido: Kaito is a very unstable creature. He’s going to most likely kill the kid, so you should take one of Kaito’s private jets out to Las Vegas and make sure he’s safe. You know how to fly a plane, don’t you?

LJ: I’m decent at it.

Shido: There’s someone I know who can help you not mess up. He’s very reliable. His name is Kevin Dean. He was once one of Kaito’s contacts but he slowly faded as time progressed and his skills weren’t needed very often.

LJ: Alright, where can I find him?

(Nevada Desert)

(Koroshi’s car is stopped in the middle of the desert. Nothing but miles and miles of desert hills and sand are around them. The main road is about 70 feet away from them, but no cars can be seen driving. Koroshi rests his back on the passenger side door. He stands with his arms crossed. Kaito is pacing back and forth angrily with his silver pistol in his hand. He paces 7 times before a word is said.)

Koroshi: Mr. Zonoda, I do not mean to be rude, but do you mind telling me why we are out here? It gets hot out here in the desert when you’re wearing a suit.

Kaito: Shut up! (Shots Koroshi in the top of the shoulder)

(Koroshi holds his shoulder and leans on the hood of the car with his back faced toward Kaito.)

Kaito: You think I don’t know about what you were doing behind my back!

(Kaito kicks Koroshi in the back and he falls to the ground.)

Kaito: Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t put a bullet in your head right now!

Koroshi: Please, sir, I did nothing wrong, I-I-

Kaito: Nothing wrong! (Continues to pace while he stares Koroshi in the eyes) I had an interesting conversation with your boss! Not me; you’re real boss- Shido. I trusted you. I trusted you all to guard me and protect my life! Now I find out you all planned to betray me in the end? And what for huh; money! (Stops and point gun at Koroshi)

Kaito: I can’t trust anyone anymore. You’re all just a bunch of rats scavenging your way to get more cheddar! Oh no, assurance of your families’ safety isn’t enough for you all! The thousands of dollars you get from me daily, the luxurious cruise ships, the women, the partners, the security! I provided all of that for each and every one of you! But you all had to just get your greedy little paws on more! If I could, I would execute all of you! But I know that if I tried that, you would all kill me with the weapons I PROVIDED!

Koroshi: (scared) Sir, please… Mikhail and I worked together to see who was trying to overthrow you. We both care for you deeply. If it wasn’t for you, my family would be imported and they would all be dead. I am eternally grateful to you, Kaito. I owe you my life. I swear I never suspected our entire crew to turn against you. But I promise you, sir, on my children’s life that I will never turn my back on you!

(Kaito grabs Koroshi by the collar and throws him against the hood of the car. His face is inches away from Koroshi’s. The two of them look deep into each other’s eyes and they begin to breathe heavy.)

Koroshi: (Bold attitude) Look into my eyes; know I speak honesty to you, Kaito. Kill me now if you feel I have betrayed your trust.

(There is a moment of silence. Kaito backs off and walks a few feet away. He wipes his mouth and thinks for a few seconds. He turns around to face Koroshi. Koroshi sits up. Kaito quickly runs over to Koroshi and hugs him aggressively.)

Kaito: I’m sorry I hurt you, man! You are a good friend. I promise, your family will be safe. But right now, we need to prepare for what’s to come tomorrow. Tomorrow I start my list of those I must kill.

Koroshi: I’m always here to help you, Mr. Zonoda.

Kaito: Please, koroshi, call me Kaito; you’ve earned that privilege.

(Miami)

(Justin and Leo walk into the hospital waiting room. As soon as they enter, everyone in the room looks up at them for a few seconds. Dr. Brandy quickly walks up to them. Dr. Peter ease drops on their conversation from sitting in the waiting room with his back turned to them. He’s eating a sub sandwich to show he’s on lunch break.)

Brandy: (Smiles and says to Leo) Hi, detective; (Says to Justin and nods) officer.

Justin: Actually it’s detective.

Brandy: Right sorry… My memory’s a little fuzzy.

Leo: You’re that sweet nurse. You’re very timid and seem nervous almost constantly.

Brandy: (Giggles) Yep, that’s me- Brandy.

Justin: You approached us mighty quick, doctor; is there a reason for that?

Brandy: Detective Leo and I have a bit of “history” together. I just wanted to say hello to him. I’m actually going on my lunch break right now; would you care to join me?

Justin: Well actually-

Leo: We would love to.

Justin: But we are officially on duty.

Leo: After the two of us get some food in our bellies, we will be.

Justin: But we won’t have our lunch break until-

Leo: Right now.

(Justin and Leo stare at each other.)

Justin: Why are you twisting my sentences around?

Leo: Because with you it’s easy.

Brandy: Okay, great. Let me just get my purse, and we can catch up on old times. (Walks away)

Justin: (Whispers to Leo) Dude, seriously, I never pegged you to be one to fall under a woman’s charm. She obviously doesn’t want us to be in this hospital; don’t you think that’s suspicious?

Leo: You need to stop being so suspicious over every little thing.

Justin: She was waiting for us when we walked through the door.

(Brandy goes into the hallway and talks to Nicky Zonoda, Kaito’s sister. The two of them are walking.)

Brandy: Peter tells me to watch out for this detective guy.

Nicky: Peter is obsessed with stalking this detective after what he did to you three years ago; of course Peter’s gonna know when he’s gonna come to our hospital.

Brandy: Peter tells me to earn this detective’s trust. I mean, I don’t know if I should do it or not; what do you think?

Nicky: I’m sorry, but I can’t help you, Brandy. I want no part in this.

Brandy: Nicky!

(The two of them stop walking.)

Nicky: (Sighs) Alright, okay, fine! Maybe you should see what this detective wants. But be careful about the way you answer his questions.

Brandy: Okay whew; what a relief. I knew I could count on you, Nick.

Nicky: (Pats Brandy on the shoulder) You go have fun now, you hear?

Brandy: Alright, I can do this! Girl power!

Nicky: Girl power. (Walks away)

(Cabin in the desert)

(Kaito and Koroshi walk into the basement of a cabin. Koroshi turns on the lights. There are big brown crates all over the place.)

Koroshi: What is all of this?

Kaito: Special weapons, armor, and explosives. No one knows about these, but me. They were used as a special back up.

Koroshi: Very smart, sir.

Kaito: Now before we do anything, I need to dispose of your cell phone so we can’t be tracked. (Puts hand on his shoulder) Do you need to make a call to your family before we begin our mission? You must understand that by joining me, you will die, and you will never see them again.

Koroshi: I…

Kaito: Why don’t you make the call while I unload this stuff?

Koroshi: Thank you, Kaito.

(It is now night time. Jessica is in bed with Chris. The two of them seem to finally be ready to engage in sexual intercourse. Hanru is in a hotel room suit talking to Ross on the couches.)

Ross: You must understand that a lot of people have faked their own deaths. Jason taught them how.

Hanru: What do my parents have to do with Jason?

Ross: Your parents were actually members of Jason’s group- both your real parents and fake parents.

Hanru: Fake parents?

Ross: Hanru Sazuki was not your birth name; it is your government name. The two parents, who raised you, your brother Lawrence, and your sister Helena, were not your birth parents. That is one reason why they are Asian and you aren’t.

Hanru: I’ve never seen my real parents.

Ross: Perhaps it’s best you learned the truth from someone you’re more familiar with.

Hanru: Like Jason, right?

Ross: Right. It’s time you finally learned the truth of your past.

Hanru: I’ve never met my sister Helena; she lives with my uncle Kwan, but Lawrence… is Lawrence really my brother?

Ross: He is. All three of you are blood related.

Hanru: I’m not ready to meet them yet. I need to handle Kaito first. I need to make sure he’s dealt with before I move on to the next chapter of my life.

Ross: There are things out there bigger than even you. Just remember that your real parents left you for a reason. And just remember that Jason is not who he says he is, but he’s also not who is says he’s not.

Hanru: Somehow that makes sense.

Ross: Good luck with Kaito tomorrow, kid; cause in the end, it’s either you or him…
