Hanru Sazuki Volume One Chapter Six: Connection (Spring 2009)

[Hanru's bedroom]

(Hanru, Lawrence, LJ, and Sarah are all in Hanru's bedroom. LJ is holding Hanru up against the wall, while pointing a gun at him. Sarah is standing in front of Lawrence, pointing a gun at him. LJ is about to pull the trigger.)

Sarah: Don't! The difference between you and I is that you've never killed anyone. If you kill him now, our plans will be ruined. I'll handle it.

LJ: Fine. I'm guessing the plan is for you to kill him?

(LJ puts the gun down. Sarah aims at Hanru. Hanru quickly kicks LJ in the gut. LJ drops Hanru and Sarah misses her shot. Lawrence quickly punches Sarah in her stomach and grabs the gun from her hand. He grabs the collar on her shirt and throws her on the ground. Hanru grabs the gun from LJ and points it at him. Sarah begins to laugh.)

Lawrence: Stop laughing or I will blow your head off.

Sarah: What, did you think I wasn't prepared for this? I came here to kill one person. I only needed one bullet. The gun's empty, Lawrence.

Hanru: But the one I have isn't... Right?

LJ: Why not try it out, homeboy?

(A man yells from downstairs.)

Man: Police! Is anyone home!

LJ: Police!?

Sarah: (Says to self) Wait a minute...

Lawrence: I know that voice.

Sarah: Oliver?!

Oliver: Sarah! (Runs upstairs)

Lawrence: (Hears Oliver getting close to the door) Hanru, shoot the door now!

(Hanru shoots the door. A second later, Oliver kicks the door open and points his gun. Lawrence quickly tackles Oliver before he can react. The two of them fall downstairs. When they get to the bottom, Lawrence grabs Oliver's gun and charges back upstairs. He goes into Hanru's room and see's that no one's in there. He looks downstairs and notices that Oliver's gone as well. Lawrence goes into his room and looks under his bed. Hanru is there.

(Oliver, Sarah and LJ are in a police car minutes later. Oliver is in the front driving. Oliver is a young handsome-looking cop. He has short blonde hair and he shows no emotion. He is not an easy person to understand. He is very distant.)

Sarah: Why did you do that?! I was in the middle of a kill.

Oliver: You know that's not how we kill people, Sarah, you know that!

Sarah: I know, but I want to change the rules. I want us to be exposed. It would give us a chance to test out true potential.

Oliver: Only Jason changes the rules; you know that. It's time we all meet up again. We need to find Natasha.

Sarah: Natasha? Do you even know where she lives?

Oliver: She just recently moved. I don't know where her new house is, but I can find it.

Sarah: Right, cause you're a cop.

Oliver: Right. I have access to personal files... Sorta.

LJ: Hey, Oliver. I need to know. How do you do your job?

Oliver: What do you mean my job?

LJ: Well you're a cop. How do you kill people if you're a cop?

Oliver: I find ways to make it work. You know better than to ask me questions like that.

LJ: Not very revealing I see. You're still the same ole Oliver since I last seen you years ago.

Oliver: And what about you, Sarah? You really want to risk getting caught and loosing your son? I thought you would be smart and stay hidden in the shadows.

Sarah: My love for him will never be replaced. But protecting him is the issue.

Oliver: You live a dangerous life; I understand. So are you gonna just put him up for adoption?

Sarah: I think it's best... I wanted to change and be there for Johnny, but him being involved in my life will bring more harm to him then good... I'll always love him...

[Alley]

(Holly is driving her vehicle in an Alley way. She's on her way to the hospital. She sees a woman with pink hair lying on the ground in front of her. She stops and gets out of the SUV. She runs up to the woman.)

Holly: Oh my gosh, what happened, are you okay?

Meukie: I was shot.

Holly: Wait a minute. You're her.

Meukie: I'm losing a lot of blood here. Can you help me?

Holly: We should get you to a hospital.

Meukie: No! No hospital. I just came from there. There's a detective who's looking for me. He thinks I'm a killer. But I'm not.

(Loud sounds of police sirens echo throughout the city.)

Holly: Okay. Okay, I'll see what I can do. Can you stand up?

Meukie: Yeah I think so.

(Holly helps Meukie get into the back seat of her car. As Holly gets in her car, a police car slowly drives toward her. The car stops in front of her. The officer gets out and walks up to Holly's window.)

Officer1: How are you today, ma'am?

Holly: (Nervous) I'm fine, officer, how are you?

Officer: Is that blood on your shirt?

Holly: No. no, sir, it's...

Officer: Is someone in the back seat?

Holly: No one's in the back seat, Mr. Officer.

Officer: It's her. (Speaks into radio) Suspect found! I repeat, suspect found!

Holly: I'm so sorry.

(Holly backs up as fast as she can. The officer runs into his car and chases after Holly. Holly backs out of the alley and drives off into the street.)

Holly: Sorry. Are you okay? I've never driven this fast before.

Meukie: I'll be fine, just drive.

(Holly as no choice but to drive on the sidewalk do to traffic. She accidentally runs over a bus stop sign. She continues to drive strait at full speed. She see's people on the sidewalk so she drives back onto the street. She accidentally crashes into the side of another vehicle. A parked police vehicle see's Holly's reckless driving, so he begins to chase her. Another police cars sees her from the opposite lane. He then turns around and chases her. Holly is now being chased by three police officers. She is constantly trying to avoid the traffic. One of the police men try to shoot her back tire. Holly makes a sharp turn onto the next street. She stops in the middle of the road and gets out. She carries Meukie on her shoulders and the two of them walk into traffic. They stay low so that the cops won't see them. They go around the corner to the next block. A man is on the sidewalk, getting ready to go inside of his vehicle. Holly goes up to the man and kicks him in his groan. She apologizes and drives off in his car.)

[Lee's front yard]

(Hanru and Lawrence walk into Lee's yard and see him sitting on the porch.)

Lee: Hey, Hanru, what's up?

Hanru: Lee, we need you to come with us, now.

Lee: No way, man. I'm trying to enjoy this hot summer day.

Lawrence: Lee! Listen to me. We have to go now.

Lee: You mind telling me why?

Hanru: Something just went down at my house. We were almost killed. I'm afraid they might go after you to get back at me. I need you to come with us.

Lee: I knew something like this would happen sooner or later. Fine I'll go. Even though you're ruining my ''Lee time.'' (Laughs) Get it? ''Lee time.'' It’s supposed to be me time. (Stops laughing) Why aren't you laughing?

Hanru: Because it wasn't funny.

Lawrence: And we are in a serious life-threatening situation!

Lee: Well excuse me for trying to make the best out of a bad situation.

Hanru: You should bring your grandma too. I don't want her getting caught up in this.

Lee: Don't worry about her. She has survival skills like Tom Hanks. (Laughs again)

[Behind unknown warehouse]

(Holly is in the car with Meukie. Meukie has a patch over her bullet wound, but she's still a little weak and exhausted.)

Holly: You feeling any better?

Meukie: Yeah. Good thing I grabbed that first aid kit from your car before we left it.

Holly: (Chuckles) Yeah.

Meukie: Is there something wrong, other than the whole police thing?

Holly: It's just weird, you know? Finding you in an alley, bleeding to death. What exactly happened to you?

Meukie: I went to visit an old friend. While I was there some police officers accused me of being the prostitute killer.

Holly: (Scoffs)

Meukie: What?

Holly: Sorry. I just hate that word. Sorry.

Meukie: May I ask why?

Holly: I don't know, I just never liked the word for some reason. If I knew, I would tell you.

Meukie: Hey don't worry about it. I can understand. Ow.

Holly: Try not to move too much.

Meukie: Alright. So, tell me a little bit about yourself, Holly. How did you and Hanru meet?

Holly: Well Hanru really doesn't like dating. But we were forced to sit by each other in one of our classes. We talked a lot about each other and we began to like each other. After a few weeks, we began dating. He didn't seem to happy about it.

Meukie: That's how you meet?

Holly: Yeah.

Meukie: Cute.

Holly: Now I have a question for you.

Meukie: I'm listening.

Holly: Do you like what you do for a living?

Meukie: No. No not really. But this is all I know. I've been like this since before I was 9.

Holly: What happened to your parents?

Meukie: When I started doing this, it wasn't my choice. For the first few years, I was forced to do it. My father use to sell me. One day, he sold me for good and never came back. When my father was finally out of my life, I felt lost. For some reason, it was all I could think of. I began to do it on my own. I was addicted. But I couldn't stop. After a few weeks, I fell behind in school. I eventually dropped out. Another man saw me on a corner alone. He kidnapped me, along with 10 other little girls. He forced us to prostitute. We were 9 years old. I don't know what happened to him. But he's out of my life and gone.Along with everyone else from my past. But even though he made us sell ourselves, he was a nice man. He wasn't abusive or angry. One day, he let us all go free. But I remember some of the girls wanted to stay with him. They were young and didn't know how to survive on their own. I ran away and never looked back. I learned to survive on my own and teach myself to live in the cruel streets. The man who kidnapped me did teach me to read and right and do math. He only did it for a few of us. Those who were willing to learn. So he helped me with my education in a way.

Holly: (Sad) Oh gosh. That's horrible.

Meukie: Yeah. Yeah. (Wipes tears from eyes) Hey. Enough about me. What about your parents? Are they still around?

Holly: Yeah, yeah, my dad is.

Meukie: What happened your mom?

Holly: She uh... She died. About 2 years ago. It's sad you know?

Meukie: Yeah.

Holly: You know before she died, she was trying to tell me something. We were in the hospital, she was trying to tell me something important. She told me it was important. She died from cancer. Just like how my grandma is right now. I just hope I don't get it.

Meukie: I'm sure you won't. (Smiles)

Holly: I hope not... Well, I guess it's my turn to ask a question. Through all the years you've been... Selling yourself, did you ever get pregnant?

Meukie: Yeah. Yeah I did. But after I gave birth, I passed out. When I woke up, my baby was gone. I never saw it again. A man helped me. He took me to his house and he helped me deliver. I don't remember his face, he was a stranger to me. He told me my child was a boy before I passed out, but I don't know.

Holly: I'm sorry.

Meukie: It's okay. In a way I'm kind of glad he's gone. If I kept him, I would have grown attached. And it would have been harder for me to let go and give him to a real family, so he could learn to live a normal life and not have to worry about whether or not his mother is coming home or has been murdered by some maniac in the street who gets his kicks from killing poor women who have to degrade themselves everyday just to survive, because it’s the only life they know and was raised knowing.

Molly: You must have lived a horrible life...

Meukie: (Ignores the situation) I love the air freshener this guy has in here. It's smells like watermelon.

Holly: Watermelon's my favorite fruit.

Meukie: Hey, mine too.

Holly: Something we have in common. Hey this guy has cards. We should play.

Meukie: Solitaire?

Holly: (Excited) I love that game. How did you know?

Meukie: That's my favorite card game.

Holly: Oh my gosh, wow!

Meukie: (Grabs Holly‘s hand and says with serious voice.) Listen to me, Holly. I want you to know that nothing's going on with me and Hanru.

Holly: Hey, don't worry about it. It's okay.

Meukie: No, you need to know. I helped him on one of his cases and we ended up becoming friends after that. But we're just friends.

Holly: Wait, what case?

Meukie: He didn't tell you?

Holly: Hanru told me that he has a secret, but he didn't want to involve me in it.

Meukie: Right. I understand. Maybe it's best if he told you.

Holly: But wait. At least tell me if it's life threatening.

Meukie: If he's not careful, It could be.

(Lee's yard)

(Hanru and Lawrence are standing in front of Lee's house. The two of them seem to be nervous, and the two of them seem to be hesitant about saying what‘s on their mind. Lawrence tries to avoid the awkward moment.)

Lawrence: How long does it take for him to get dressed?

Hanru: About 5 minutes.

Lawrence: (Nods head) I see. Let’s just hope we don’t get shot within those 5 minutes. (Chuckles)

Hanru: (Serious) What’s the connection between you and Sarah? How do the two of you know each other?

Lawrence: We were old friends. She thought she was too good for me, and over time, we just... Slowly drifted apart.

Hanru: Did you know about her being a killer?

Lawrence: I think it's best you don't ask a lot of questions, little brother.

Hanru: Fine. If you don't want to talk, you don't have to.

(Moment of Silence)

Lawrence: (Serious) I'm sorry. (Hanru looks at Lawrence) I'm sorry this had to happen. For most of my life, I have been trying to protect you. I always thought that everything I was trying to protecting you from was big. But now I realize that they were just small. I protected you from drugs, sex, gangs, but nothing as big as this. Your life is at risk now and there is nothing I can do to protect you.

Hanru: Hey. You don't have to worry about me, Lawrence. I can take care of myself. I understand that there's danger in what I do; I know the risks. I have to admit I may need help from time-to-time, but I can manage.

Lawrence: You're not a big brother, Hanru. You don't understand. (Smiles for a second at Hanru)

Hanru: Before Lee comes back out, we should go back home.

Lawrence: Home? For what?

Hanru: Uncle Leo's laptop.

Lawrence: Why do you need his laptop?

Hanru: Uncle Leo's laptop is connected to the computers down at the police station. We can use it to find a list of all police officers that work down at the station with him. We just find the name "Oliver" and we got the name of the police officer who came into our house.

Lawrence: ... You really think you can figure this whole thing out, don't you?

Hanru: I do. A police officer that could possible be a murderer. I‘d love to expose someone like him and hope he gets the worse punishment possible. I hate cops. So I need to check this guy out and find out how he's connected to this woman who tried to kill me

Lawrence: ... Do you really think you have the skills to figure it all out?

Hanru: To be honestly... No, I don't, but I have to at least try. Everything I've done has lead me up to this situation. If I tell the police, they would never believe me because of my young age. But if they do believe me, I would be arrested for illegally gathering evidence and for getting involved in police business. I'm the only one who knows about these people. That means I'm the only one who can stop em'.

Lawrence: (Nods head) Okay. How about this? Let's see how much information you can gather on both Sarah and Oliver. Let's test your detective skills.

Hanru: What?

Lawrence: I know about you being a detective, you've told me about all your cases. But I want to actually see how you do things. I want to know how your methods work. Let's see what kind of dirt you can get on Sarah and Oliver.

Hanru: (Bit nervous) Um... Okay.

Lawrence: So tell me why you think Sarah's a killer.

Hanru: She came to my house planning to kill me. She shot at me and barely missed. And don't forget the fact that we don't know each other. She even told LJ that the difference between the two of them was that she killed and he didn't.

Lawrence: Alright I guess. So do you really think getting this laptop will help?

Hanru: Yep. All we have to do is get it.

Lawrence: Maybe we should wait for Lee.

[Police car]

(Oliver, Sarah and LJ are still in the police car driving.)

Oliver: Natasha lives in a cabin in the middle of a deserted forest. It'll take awhile to find it, but I don’t think It should take too long.

Sarah: I thought you didn't know exactly where she lived?

Oliver: I don't. I know what area she lives in, but I don't know exactly where.

Sarah: So is the group getting back together?

Oliver: Yeah. LJ, even though you're not officially apart of our group, you can still come with us.

LJ: Well alright.

[Leo's bedroom]

(Hanru and Lawrence are in Leo's bedroom getting his laptop.)

Lawrence: Make sure it's charged.

Hanru: The battery's fully charged.

Lawrence: Alright, let's go.

(Lee walks in holding Hanru's sword in it's case.)

Lee: Hey, I got your sword, bro.

Hanru: Alright, we're gone.

(A few minutes later, Hanru, Lee, and Lawrence, go into Lee's living room. They all sit down on the couch.)

Hanru: It seems uncle Leo's laptop has just received some new info. (Reads the title of the information title.) "The prostitute killer"?

Lawrence: Click on it; See what It's about.

Hanru: (Computer denies him access) Dang it, It needs a password.

Lawrence: I just gave you the password when we were on our way here. Did you already forget?

Hanru: Right... (Begins to feel lightheaded and vision gets blurry for 2 seconds.)

Lee: Whoa.

Lawrence: You alright?

Hanru: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. (A stream of blood begins to slowly fall from his nose.)

Lee: Hey, your nose is bleeding, man.

Hanru: What? (Wipes nose with shirt sleeve.) I'm fine. Valdez, Right? The password was Valdez?

Lawrence: Yeah.

Hanru: Okay. (Types in Valdez. He then skims the information.) No...

Lawrence: What? What is it?

Hanru: It says here that a woman with pink hair is the Prostitute killer. That woman is Meukie.

Lawrence: You can't be serious.

Hanru: Wait, wait. It also says she was shot while trying to escape. When she was taken to the hospital, she fled. Police around the area searched for her. They found her in a silver 2003 Nissan Murano. The license plate number matched the one that... Holly drives. Holly helped Meukie escape, but they had to ditch the car. A man reported them stealing his vehicle.

Lawrence: Quick, what was the name of the vehicle?

Hanru: A black 2005 Ford Mustang GT.

Lee: Man. This is crazy.

Hanru: Uncle Leo must have been the first to be informed of what was going on with these two, because he was the one who arrested Meukie.

Lee: So how are you gonna handle this situation?

Hanru: I'm gonna call Holly and make sure she's okay. That’s all I can do right now.

(Hanru calls Holly on her cell phone and Holly answers.)

Holly: Hanru, I'm so glad you called.

Hanru: Holly, are you okay?

Holly: Yeah I'm fine, why?

Hanru: I just read one of my uncle's files and it has information on you. It says you were involved in a carjacking.

Holly: (Takes a deep breath) I can't believe it's already in his computer.

Hanru: Are you okay? Were you hurt in any way?

Holly: No I'm fine, but Meukie on the other hand.

Hanru: Me- Meukie? How is she?

Holly: Not good. If I don't get her to a hospital soon, she's gonna bleed to death.

Hanru: Let me speak to her.

Holly: Okay hold on. She can't really move her arm much, so I'm putting you on speaker.

Hanru: Fine.

(Holly puts the phone on speaker. Meukie sounds weak and tired the whole time.)

Meukie: Hey, Han, catch any bad guys lately?

Hanru: I'm glad to know you're still alive, Meukie.

Meukie: (Chuckles) There’s something we both agree on.

Holly: Ah man, her bullet wound is getting infected. This is not good. She’s looking really pale right now.

Hanru: Holly, listen to me. Take her to a hospital.

Holly: What? No. I can't. If I do that, she'll get arrested.

Hanru: I know that. But her life is more important right now. If she doesn't get to a hospital now, she'll die.

Meukie: No, I can't go. If they arrest me, then the Prostitute killer case will be closed. And the real killer will still be out there killing.

Hanru: No. Just because you're a prostitute that doesn't mean you're the killer. They need evidence. Plus, If they do arrest you and the prostitute killer strikes again, then they'll know for sure it wasn't you.

Holly: I kinda wish you said that earlier. Meukie shoot at an officer and resisted arrest. I had a high speed chase with the police and I stole a man's car. Not to mention I helped meukie get away from the police. Either way, we're in trouble.

Hanru: I don't know what else to tell you.

Meukie: I guess it's my time to die...

Hanru: No, Meukie, don't say that. You're gonna be fine. I promise you, you won't die. You’re going to make it, just stay with me, okay?

Meukie: Thanks... But I think It's my time to go. I was never much help for anybody anyway. No one needs me, no one cares about me. I'm not wanted here in this life. Therefore, I must leave it now.

Hanru: No, Meukie. I need you. I care about you. Look, I need you right now. My uncle's notes said that you were at an apartment building when you were shot. The Prostitute killer lives in that apartment building. Tell me why you were there.

Meukie: (Coughs twice) I... I was visiting my friend. The one I told you about. Her name was Sarah. Sarah Travis.

Hanru: Sarah... She came to my place and tried to kill me. Your friend's a prostitute too right?

Meukie: Yeah, like me.

Hanru: The notes also said something about a Gran Torino. I remembered that was LJ's vehicle. The few times I went to his barber shop, I've seen it parked in front. My uncle also stated in his notes that LJ described you to be the killer. He must have been trying to protect Sarah.

Meukie: Me and him never did get along so well.

Hanru: I'm gonna be honest; You sound horrible, Meukie. I know it's hard. I know. But you have to get to a hospital. A few months ago, when we first meet, you told me to protect you. Now I'm protecting you. Go to a hospital. I assure you, you will be fine. (Silence over the phone.) Meukie?

Holly: Oh my gosh. Hanru, I think she just passed out! I hope she isn't dead.

Hanru: Dang it. Holly! Take her to a hospital, now. Drop her off, ditch your vehicle and lay low for awhile. As long as you're in that vehicle, the police could still find you. Leave the vehicle at the hospital. The vehicle would be there, so the police will automatically assume the both of you are in the hospital together. They'll search the entire building. This will buy you a little extra time to escape the area. Do you understand everything I just said?

Holly: Yeah! I-I don’t know, I think so.

Hanru: Okay, only call me if It's an emergency. The police could track your phone.

Holly: Okay. But wait a minute. How do you know the police will still be at the hospital?

Hanru: I know my uncle. He shot her and he knew she needed immediate medical attention. There's only one hospital in this area. He knew that Meukie would have to go back to the hospital, or else she would die. And my uncle doesn't have a problem with that. My uncle will be waiting at the hospital for her. Now go.

(Car)

(Oliver, Sarah and LJ are still driving in the car.)

LJ: (Sounding bored) How long is this trip gonna take?

Oliver: We should get there in about 3 hours. But it depends on traffic conditions.

LJ: You're a cop. Just turn on your sirens and ease your way on though, man, it‘s that simple.

Oliver: It's not that simple. If I turn my sirens on, other officers on patrol will follow me. That's the last thing we need right now.

LJ: So why does it take 3 hours? Does she live out of town?

Oliver: Yep. But she's still in this state, so don't worry, we won't wonder off too far.

LJ: Yeah.

(Hospital parking lot)

(Holly drives the car into the hospital parking lot. She sees a woman doctor walking in the parking lot. She gets out of the car panicking.)

Holly: Hey! Excuse me!

Doctor: (Stops and looks at Holly.) Can I help you?!

Holly: No, but you can help her.

(Holly opens the other side of the car. Meukie has blood all over her clothes.)

Doctor: (Runs up to Holly and Meukie) Oh my gosh!

Holly: Do whatever you can to save her! Please don't let her die.

Doctor: I'll do my best. How long has she been like this?

Holly: She just passed out about 5 minutes ago. I've tried my best to wake her up, but nothing works. (Reads doctors name tag.) Please take care of her... Brandy.

(Holly runs away and Brandy gets Meukie out of the car.)

(Lee's home)

(Hanru, calls Mamimi, using his cell phone. Mimi seems very happy.)

Mamimi: (Sounds happy) Hello?

Hanru: Mamimi, hey. Listen, we need you to come with us. It seems a case that I solved ended up becoming something bigger. My life is at risk and so are the people who are close to me. We need to be together right now.

Mamimi: Na, I'm having too much fun swimming in Ada's pool.

Hanru: Ada, that's right. I forget you were at her house. Does anyone know where you are?

Mamimi: No. My parents know I'm helping someone out, but they don't know who.

Hanru: Okay... That's bad parenting, but whatever. Anyway... Actually, you have fun swimming. Call me if anything happens.

Mamimi: Bye. (Hangs up phone)

Hanru: Bye. (Hangs up phone) It's probably for the best that Mimi stays with Ada. No one knows where she is, so she'll be safe there. Plus, she's with a detective.

Lee: Well that's sad. I kinda wanted Mimi to come with us. Whatever. Let's look at the bright side; at least we can have some guy time together.

Hanru: Right... Hey wait a minute. That's right, I was suppose to be looking up this Oliver guy. (Hanru goes on the computer and within 2 minutes he finds the list of employees down at the station. Hanru talks to himself out loud.) Oliver... I found his first name. Now Mr. Oliver... Tell us your last name. Rayne... Officer Oliver Rayne. Let's read his files... (Reads his file) Looks like his past doesn't exist. But he has a daughter... Israel Rayne. She's adopted.

Lee: Maybe she knows something.

Hanru: How much do you want to bet she does?

Lee: Hey, Lawrence you want in on this?

Lawrence: What the bet or the case?

Lee: The case. Come on, help us out.

Hanru: No, Lee. Lawrence said he wants to see how I do things. I'll show him. I don't need him to help me. But It would really be useful right now.

Lee: So where do we go from here?

Hanru: We call Erika.

Lawrence: What?

Hanru: Lee, you remember the time you and I were stuck in that room when it was closing in?

Lee: I almost lost my life that day. It's kinda hard to forget.

Lawrence: Wait can you tell me about that again?

Hanru: I was investigating a man named Allen Elicio. I found out he was connected to the murder of Casey's uncle, Ross. He captured both me and Lee and he locked us in his basement. A small room was slowly closing in on us. But a T.V was in the room. The T.V only had 7 channels. We figured out that the numbers were actually a phone number. That phone number was Erika's. It's possible that Officer Oliver Rayne somehow got Erika's number and gave it to Allen. After all, the two of them work in the same department. We need to call her and find out if she has any connections with Oliver Rayne.

(Erika is standing in front of an outside snack bar.)

Erika: One large chili dog please. And a coke.

Woman: What kind?

Erika: Pepsi, large.

Woman: You know chili dogs are bad for your heart. You should take it easy on them.

Erika: Lady, my heart is non of your concern. Please just get me my order, so I can get on with whatever's left of my life.

Woman: (Attitude) One large chili dog, comin' right up.

(Erika walks away and sits down on the nearest table. Her phone then rings.)

Erika: Hello?

Hanru: Hey, Erika.

Erika: Who is this?

Hanru: Hanru.

Erika: Oh, it's you. What do you want?

Hanru: I actually would like to know if you have had any encounters with an officer Oliver Rayne?

Erika: (Angry) Shut up. Oliver Rayne is a monster. I will never forgive him for what he's done to me. I curse his name. Do not... Say his name... Around me again. Understand?!

Hanru: Wait, are you crying, Erika?

Erika: (Sad) Day after day, I've been trying to get him out of my mind. But I'm constantly reminded of what It is I am trying to forget.

Hanru: Whoa, Erika. This guy must have done something terrible to you.

Erika: You have no idea... You have no idea... We use to go out, but... (Phone goes off) Stupid cell phone battery.

Hanru: Hello?! Hello?! (Hangs up phone.) Dang it. We lost the signal. Before we were interrupted, she said the two of them use to go out.

Lawrence: Wait a minute. What makes you think Oliver and Allen are connected?

Hanru: I'm not sure if they are. But Erika's number was on that T.V. She didn't know who Allen was. I figured, If Oliver was with Sarah, It's possible he might be a murderer too. If so, it's possible he helped Allen get Erika's phone number. The two of them use to date. So that must be how he got her number.

Lawrence: I still don't buy it.
Lee: I’m confused.

Hanru: Yeah I know. We need more proof.

Lee: I think Oliver's daughter might know something. We go to her house and see what we can find. Look up her address on the computer.

(Erika is still sitting at the table.)

Woman: Whoever ordered the LARGE heart attack, your food is ready!

Erika: (Walks up to the woman and takes the food with attitude. She gives the woman a dirty look when she grabs the tray.) Thank you.

(Sergeant Giovanni is sitting in his car. He goes into his glove compartment and pulls out a post-it. He writes "Officer Oliver Rayne, connection to Erika." Hanru, Lee and Lawrence are at the front door of Oliver's home.)

Lee: I hope she's hot.

Lawrence: She's blonde; of course she is.

Hanru: So how exactly do we do this? How do we know Oliver's daughter's even home?

Lawrence: (Knocks on front door.) Problem solved.

Israel: (Opens the door.) Hello.

Lee: Are you Israel Rayne by any chance?

Israel: Who's asking?

Hanru: Yeah, that's her. I recognize her picture from her file.

Israel: What?

Lawrence: We don't have time for this, Hanru. Let's just do this the easy way.

(The three of them push the door open and walk into the house. They then spread out around the living room and look around. Lawrence stands near Israel.)

Israel: Hey, you can't just walk in here.

Lee: We just did, doll face.

Israel: (Closes the front door) Does my father have something to do with you being here?

Lee: Yep. We have good reason to believe your father may be up to something that's against the law.

Israel: Oh, so what, you think I'm just gonna tell you about my father's group? Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't know about it. I'm not officially apart of it.

Lee: (Says quietly to Hanru.) Just like LJ.

Hanru: Fine. If you don't know anything, I guess I should go on a little scavenger hunt around this beautiful home.

Israel: What? No! Why are you just standing there, Lawrence? Do something.

Hanru: (Looks surprised.) You two know each other?

Israel: I'm not saying a word to you, until you tell me who you are.

Hanru: Hey, do me a favor, Lawrence. Hold her for me. I think it's time we start our search.

Israel: (Lawrence holds her) No! You leave my stuff alone!

Hanru: This girl's not very smart at all. Hey, Lee. Why don't we start by searching her bedroom?

Lee: Ah heck yeah. I call here drawers!

Hanru: No, you pervert. I'll look in the drawers, you search under her bed.

Lee: (Shrugs) Just as fun. Girls have stuff under their beds too.

(Hanru and Lee go upstairs to her bedroom.)

Israel: What the heck is this, Lawrence?

Lawrence: My brother got involved in the wrong case, that's what's going on. He's actually doing pretty good in solving it. I just hope he doesn't figure everything out.
Israel: What case are you talking about?
Lawrence: Ross’ murder. He got involved and now he’s connecting the group together. He doesn’t know I’m apart of it. He doesn’t know about Natasha either.
Israel: Natasha has no connection with any of us, so he might not ever find her.
Lawrence: Natasha is the goddess of evil. If she ever finds out about what Hanru is doing, she will not hesitate to murder him.
Israel: You know, now when I think about it, there is something that connects Natasha.

(Lee runs downstairs)

Lee: Hey. Hanru told me to hold her.

Lawrence: What, why?

Lee: Because you're not suppose to help us. You're suppose to be watching how we do things.

Lawrence: That's fair.

(Hanru opens Israel's underwear drawer.)

Hanru: (Thinking) If she does have something to hide, she would put it in a place where no one would care to look. Unless you’re someone like Lee, that is.
(Hanru feels around her underwear drawer and he feels the handle of another drawer in the back of it. He throws all of her underwear out and he opens the secret back drawer. He finds a tape recorder inside. He plays the tape.)

Oliver on recorder: Hey, sweetie, sorry I couldn't tell you in person, but you know how dangerous it can be talking over the phone. Listen, something urgent just came up. I'm sorry, but I have to leave you alone for the day. I promise, I'll be back tomorrow. I'm going to Natasha's place. We have a plan to get the group back together. Jason, Allen, Sarah, me, and Natasha. We will all be together again.

Hanru: (Turns off recorder and talks in mind.) He is connected to Allen and Jason. So it was him who gave Allen Erika's number.

(Hanru goes down stair. Lawrence is sitting on a chair in the living room and Lee is holding Israel.)

Israel: What took you so long, huh? Did you get busy sniffing around in my underwear. I know that's where you looked. All guys are the same.

Hanru: I did search you underwear drawer. I found something pretty interesting: A tape recorder. You mind telling me who Natasha is?

Israel: I'm not letting you get anymore information out of me.

Hanru: Fine. Lawrence, give me the laptop.

Lawrence: What do you want with that?

Hanru: Just stop asking questions and do it.

Lawrence: Attitude.

Hanru: Sorry. My mind hasn't been the same since... (Vision gets blurry for a second)

Lee: You cool, man?

Hanru: Yeah... Lawrence, do me a favor, I need a list of all Natasha's that live in this city. Can you do that for me?

Lawrence: Sure, little brother.

(A few minutes later, Lawrence gets the list and Hanru writes down all addresses.)

Hanru: Now, we call. We need to get Oliver's cell phone number. Where's your phone, Israel?

Israel: In my butt; You wanna search there too?

Lee: I do.

Hanru: Check her pockets, Lee. ONLY her pockets.

Lee: (Grabs her phone from out her pocket.) got it.

(A few seconds later, Hanru calls Oliver from Israel's phone.)

Oliver: Hey, baby. How's it going?

Hanru: It's going good, dad.

Oliver: Who is this? Where's my daughter!

Hanru: She's fine. She's right next to me. I'll make sure she stay's fine if you promise to leave me and my friends alone.

Oliver: (Laughs) Hanru... You have nothing to worry about. I'm still forming my group.

Hanru: I know about your group. I know you're connected to Jason Petrell, Allen Elicio, Sarah Travis, and some woman named Natasha.

Oliver: I bet you do, young detective. Listen, you leave my daughter alone, and I'll leave your loved ones alone. Is that a deal?

Hanru: How do I know I can trust you?

Oliver: You don't.

Lee: Hanru, hang up the phone, right now!

Hanru: We have a deal. (Hangs up the phone.) What is it, Lee?!

Lee: This may be a coincidence, but I highly doubt it is!

Hanru: What? Just tell me.

Lee: I just realized this. Grab a piece of paper.

Hanru: I'll just use Microsoft Word on the laptop. (Goes to Microsoft Word)

Lee: Okay, type the first initial of both first and last name in this order. Jason, Allen, Sarah, Oliver, Natasha.

Hanru: Okay.

Lee: Now type in Petrelli, Elicio, Travis, Rayne.

Hanru: Okay... Hey wait, I see it. The first initial of each of their first names spells J.A.S.O.N.

Lee: Yeah, but the last name only spells Petr.

Hanru: We need Natasha's last name.

Lee: But what about the L-L-I in the name Petrelli?

Hanru: Okay, well, we know that Natasha's last name starts with an E, so... LJ! The L-L-I at the end of Petrelli must stand for people that work with them but aren't official apart of the group.

Lawrence: (Says quietly to self) Oh no.

Hanru: LJ stands for L... Israel must stand for I.

Lee: So who's the other L?

Hanru: Lawrence...

Lee: What?

Lawrence: It looks like you figured it out. Yes, I am connected. Me, Israel and LJ are still in their group.

Hanru: Their a group of killers, Lawrence. I can't believe you got involved.

Lawrence: Yeah. But don't worry, I haven't killed anyone. I don't plan to either. I only capture the people they plan to kill. That's all I do.

Hanru: Wait that sounds like a system. Each person has a different job to do in the group. They all work together to kill people.

Lawrence: Israel's the stalker of the group.

Israel: Guilty.

Hanru: Are... Are you guys Assassins?

Lawrence: No. They just kill ordinary people instead of political figures.

Hanru: LJ is an expert on computers because he finds the information on them. And when I first meet him, he hacked into my computer and shut down my internet for awhile. He was able to hack into my computer so fast because he already had access to it, because of you.

Lawrence: Yeah.

Hanru: How skilled are these... Killers?

Lawrence: Very.

Israel: My dad trained me to survive in hostage situations, so that must be why he was so cool to you over the phone.

Hanru: That makes since.

Israel: My dad said he was gonna leave you alone. I know for sure, he's telling the truth. He'll leave you alone. You'll know when he's coming after you. The group will make it obvious and possibly public. But it’ll be something only you could understand.

Hanru: Does anyone know about this group of killers?

Israel: No, not at all. They're too well-trained. They're the masters of stealth. At least they use to be.

Hanru: (Covers face) All I tried to do, was help Casey find out who killed his uncle. How did I end up getting involved in something like this!?

Lawrence: We should go home now, Hanru. I'll explain everything to you when we get there.

Hanru: Explain what, Lawrence?! You help serial killers. How am I suppose to take that?

Israel: Look don't blame your brother. I'm sure he's out of the group now that he knows they're trying to kill you.

Lawrence: I am. I promise you, Hanru.

Israel: Wait... Just to be clear about this. Why was your brother your first guess of being apart of the group? I mean, that's your brother. He should be your last guess.

Hanru: He had a connection with Sarah and he wouldn't tell me what that connection was. His name was the only one that starts with an L that I know of who connects to at least one of the group members.

Israel: I like you, kid.

(House in the middle of the forest)

(Oliver, LJ and Sarah park the police car in front of a house in the woods. They get out and go inside. Natasha is sitting at the table, eating a type of meat. Natasha is a good-looking women. She has beautiful bright green eyes, but inside has a very deep passion of darkness. She has long dirty blonde hair, and a very evil attitude. )

LJ: Um... May I ask what you're eating?

Natasha: Bear. Want some?

LJ: Um... No I‘m good...

Oliver: I see you still have your attitude.

Natasha: Yeah well, it comes with the whole serial killer thing. You can't be soft if you're gonna kill people.

Oliver: Well look how well it worked out for me.

Natasha: (Sarcastic) Well good for you. Now what do you want?

Oliver: We need to go over the plan and make sure we understand it properly.

Natasha: Okay...

Oliver: And, LJ.

LJ: Yeah?

Oliver: I want you to disable all computers in the Sazuki home. Even the laptop. I can't have that kid finding out anymore information.

LJ: I'm on it, sir.
Natasha: What plan are you talking about, Oliver? Are we going to kill finally kill him?
Oliver: We’ll go over the plan when everyone else gets here.

(Hospital)

(Meukie is unconscious on a hospital bed. Several doctors are rushing her down the hall. Dr. Brandy calls one of the female doctors. The female doctor stops pushing the bed and goes back to where Brandy is standing.)

Female doctor: What are you doing, Brandy? That woman is in need of serious medical attention.

Brandy: That woman, is the “Prostitute Killer”.

Female doctor: The same one from the news?

Brandy: Yep. That detective that's been in the waiting room told me. He also told me to keep an eye on her.

Female doctor: I can't imagine how hard this is for you. After all the horrible things she's done, we're the ones who have to take care of her and prevent her from dying.

Brandy: (Scoffs) Being a doctor isn't as rewarding as it was when I first started here.

Female doctor: (Sighs) We should probably get back to work now. (Walks away)

(Hours have now passed. Meukie is resting in her hospital bed. Brandy quietly walks in and closes the door. She slowly walks up to Meukie and stands over her body. She stares at Meukie with an angry face.)

Brandy: I never thought I'd get this chance. I never thought I'd ever meet you. I always thought of what I'd do to you if we were ever to meet. That bullet wound of yours doesn't come close to how bad I'm going to hurt you. I can't believe I'm standing here, face-to-face to the one who killed my only brother: The Prostitute Killer. My brother took care of me more than my father ever did. And you took him away from me, over your sick thirst for blood. I promised my brother, on the day of his funeral, that I will get back at the one who killed him. You're just lucky I didn't find out who you were before the police. I promise you, I will get you back for what you did to him. When you get better, you're going to prison. Another chance will not be given to me to get you back. While you're here, in this hospital, I will not allow you to enjoy your last minutes of freedom.

(Leo walks in and closes the door behind him.)

Brandy: (Dries tears.) Hello... Detective. What can I help you with?

Leo: I heard everything from behind the door.

Brandy: (Nervous) ... Oh...

Leo: You know, when I first started of as a cop, I wanted nothing more than to bring justice to those guilty of a crime. A few years ago, I made a huge mistake. A mistake that will haunt me for the rest of my life. Because of this, I learned to stop caring about other people. I lie and say I care most about my career. But that's not true; I actually hate it.

Brandy: Why are you telling me this?

Leo: I have a secret of yours, you have a secret of mine. I don't care what you do, just keep my secret to yourself. And I'll keep yours to myself. No matter what you do.

Brandy: What are you saying?

Leo: I'm saying, Meukie is the scum of the Earth. I honestly don't care what happens to her. I don't even care whether or not she dies. Even if it's by an "accident".

Brandy: You're a cop. Cops aren't suppose to say stuff like that.

Leo: You're a doctor, doctors aren't suppose to say stuff like that to their patients.

Brandy: So basically, you're giving me permission to do whatever I want to this patient, even if it kills her?

Leo: I am.

Brandy: You're a dirty cop.

Leo: I wouldn't say dirty. I'm giving you a chance to avenge your once beloved brother

Brandy: How do I know this isn't a set up?

Leo: You don't. But I know what you're thinking about doing to her. You know, you only have one chance to avenge your brother's death. This is that chance. Just because you're scared of a police officer doesn't mean you're gonna change your plans.

Brandy: You know something... You're right. No one can stop me from fulfilling the promise I made to my brother. Not even you.

Leo: My lips are sealed. (Walks out of the room and closes the door.)

Brandy: (Turns to Meukie's sleeping body.) I guess it's true what they say. The sickness for death is contagious.
