Dear God

Chapter 16

Val stood there her hands on her hips as she looked between the two, malice held within her eyes. She acted like she still lived in the house, as if this was her and Matt's house. Even though they had divorced and she took almost half his money, though it was no object to him; he still loved to penny pinch.

“This isn't our house anymore, Val. Remember? You divorced me for some up and coming model,” Matt spoke, venom dripping from every word that punctuated the air.

“I was wrong baby,” She walked up to him, Clary's fists gathering into bails, her nails biting into the palm of her hand.

Matt took her hand, that had began to run down his chest, and pushed it towards her; not enough to knock her over but enough to get it away from him. He had a look of pure disgust on his face, as if the thought of going back to her was a bad taste in his mouth. Val looked to him and made her lips quiver and her eyes water, as if she were about to breakdown. Clary could see that Matt was beginning to go soft, crying woman a weakness to him. Clary bit her lip but stepped between Val and Matt, the glare throwing daggers at the woman.

“You broke it off with him, you cheated on him. He is with me now and you need to step back before I claw your eyes out,” Clary growled, her face dark.

Val could only snort as she took in the girl, her eyes roaming up and down her body, “Please, what would he want with a teenager like you? I could give him more than you ever could...”

Val went to speak more but was caught off guard when Clary's hand came down upon her cheek, the anger flushing her face. Clary was about to hit her again when Matt wrapped her arms around the girl that is angry.

“Val you need to leave, right now.”

Val's confidence took a hit as he said that, a frown now coating her lips. Her body slumped a bit as she looked between the two, the fleeting moment of weakness was quickly hidden as she steeled her spine and gave them a sneer.

“You think she's going to be able to give you what I can? I don't think she will,” Val shook her head. “You will come crawling back to me once you notice this fact, Matt. I'm perfect for you and we both belong together. We were perfect for each other and I know what I had done was wrong. I love you, Matt and we're a perfect fit.”

Clary's hands balled into fists, her nails biting into the flesh of her skin. The anger on her face, darkening her features. Before she could even say anything the woman was out the door, the door slamming; the baby instantly starting to cry from upstairs. Matt groaned as they had just recently got her to sleep, Clary rubbing a hand over her face. She could feel the tension in the room and knew that if Anna picked that up, she wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. Matt placed a kiss on her lips, which caused her to go weak a bit, but she still felt somewhat tense. Val always struck something in her, making her feel vulnerable. The words were still in her head, no matter how hard she tried to push them out. What if Val was right? She couldn't help but think as Matt went to go get Anna, having whispered it into the girls ear.

Matt came back with the little girl who was now content and wide away, chewing on her fist as she looked up at her dad; making small baby noises. Clary couldn't help but smile and snap a picture on her phone of them, a smile on her face as there was one of her, Matt and Anna together as her background. She couldn't believe everything both of them have been through, especially with Val showing up like that. She tucked the phone back into her pocket and moved towards her fiancee and their little girl, leaning her chin on his arm as she smiled at the babe.

“She's so precious,” she whispered so that only he could hear.

“I know she's so tiny and small, she's going to be just like her mommy. In which, I do hope that is true,” he laughs softly his dimples popping out of his cheeks as he does.

“Damn those dimples are like craters,” she pointed out, Matt's cheeks blushing a bit. “I mean every little thing that you do they pop out, no matter how big or small that they are.” She chuckles as she lifted a hand, running her finger along his cheeks, poking at his dimples, causing Matt to chuckle and smile even more; the dimples deepening upon his cheeks. This only caused her to poke them more, as Anna made a huge cooing noise and let out a small yawn, her tiny fists now curled by herface.

“Oh look,” Matt spoke, softly as to not startle the little girl. “It looks like she is going back to sleep.”

Clary looked to the little girl and gave another smile, “It looks like she is.”

Anna's eyes were half lidded now as she let out some shallow breaths before they closed fully, her small chest rising and falling with each breath she took. Both of her parents smiling down at her, the little family moment another one that both of them would treasure. Even through the storms, the bad times they both knew that they would make it through. They were meant to be together, despite their age differences. Love came in all different shapes, ages, and sizes. It knew knows bounds and once it touches you, it never lets go. No matter how hard someone tries to break it. True love is what they shared and that bond is unbreakable. The test of time only makes it stronger.

Clary and Matt would never let anything come between them and their small family, no matter where life takes them. They knew that this love was forever.
