In their world, everything is strategic. Marriages are advantageous and love is unlikely and unimportant. The lives of girls revolve around preparing for attracting husbands and life after marriage. Boys quickly become men and have knowledge and ethics forced upon them. There's very little room for anyone to breathe, or think, but love isn't entirely impossible. For Emmerich and Farrah, everything changes when they see each other for the first time. However, it's as if fate decides to test their devotion when a war breaks out and threatens to keep them apart for eternity.
