Road to Nowhere

“I am the state.”- Louis XIV

He made me different. He made me beautiful. He made me loved. He made me mean. He was Napoleon. I was Josephine. Our love was the loveliest thing. Always formal, never relaxed. I enjoyed the courtship, the sweet nothings, the plans to make the whole word crumble and crack. I loved my Napoleon. What woman wouldn't?

Part of me, the part that was still a little girl, longed for my mother. The other half knew that she wouldn't recognize her sane, sweet child that she had raised to be a very Draconian, Machiavellian political powerhouse.

Who had I become? Would I always be this way?

The bile rose in my throat. Who was I truly destined to be? At the same time I knew that I wouldn't be happy with out the power I had come to know and love. I adored myself. I could be the next best thing to Hitler. I'd be the best damn commander the world has ever seen. I will be great.

“Ah, if I were not king, I should lose my temper.” – Louis XIV
