You Implied That You Would Wait for Me

You Implied That You Would Wait For Me Chapter 6

The next morning I woke up and got ready for a jog.
I didn’t care where I was going just as long as I was running, I’m happy.
I found a trail through the woods and ran it.
It led me to a clearing. There was a small waterfall that flowed into a river.
I took off my shoes and my shirt and jumped into the cold water.
I was floating on the water letting the sun hit my face.
“Who are you?” asked a voice.
I looked up to see who was here.
I smiled. It was Sadie.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” I asked.
She rolled her eyes. “What are you doing here is the really question,”
“I asked first,” I smirked.
“I always come here, it’s a place where I can be myself and relax,”
“Well I found this place on my run,”
“Well, get back to your run,”
“I don’t think so. Not until you come in with me,”
“Don’t you have anything better to do?”
“No,”
She rolled her eyes and took off her shirt then her shorts.
“Whoa,” I whispered looking at her.
She ran toward the river then jumped in.
“Happy?” she asked once she can back up.
“Very,”
“Follow me,” she said going under the water.
I followed her under. She led me under the water fall and into the cave behind it.
“This is my favorite place,” she smiled slightly.
“I see why,” I looked around the small space.
It wasn’t much but it was something.
Sadie swam over to the back of the cave, I followed her.
She was looking at an engraving.
It was a heart and inside of the heart were the initials J.W and S.F.
“Who’s J.W and S.F?” I asked.
“J.W is a friend of mine S.F is me,”
I smiled. “When did you make this?”
“Years ago, let’s go,” she said swimming away.
I followed her out and back to the bank of the river.
I got out of the water and ran my fingers through my hair.
“Wow,” I heard Sadie whisper.
“Like what you see?” I joked.
“No,”
“Ouch, that hurt,”
“Good,” she said floating on the water.
I quietly got back in the water and grabbed her foot.
“Ah!” she screamed.
I started laughing.
“That wasn’t funny,”
“Yes…it…” I said in between laughter.
Sadie tackled me into the water.
“Now that wasn’t funny,” I said
“Yes it was,” she giggled.
I lifted her up and threw her over my shoulder and spun her around.
“Put me down,” she laughed.
“Okay,” I said. I put her in my arms, bridal style, and spun her around slowly.
“I’m getting out now,” she said once she was back on her feet.
“Oh no you don’t,” I said grabbing her waist and pulling her toward me.
Her hands were on my chest and we were close together.
I looked into her familiar blue eyes then at her pink lips.
I let her go and she backed away from me.
“I should go,” I said.
“Yeah, I’ll see you, in class,”
“Yea,” I said getting out.
I pulled on my soaks and shoes quickly, grabbed my shirt and ran home.
*****
I was outside washing my car with Grace.
“Hey,” I turned around to see Avery.
“Hey, did you walk here?”
“Yeah, I’m going to the library,”
“Oh,”
“Avery, hi” Grace said smiling at her.
“Hey Grace, how are you?”
“Good, you really pretty, doesn’t she Jared,”
I smiled. “She does,”
Avery blushed and looked at the floor.
“Um, I’ll drive you to the library if you want me to,”
“Oh, it’s okay really,” she said.
“Avery, I’m driving you, we’ll be done soon,”
I picked up the hose and started to wash off the soap and sparing Grace just a little.
We were wearing our swim suites so it didn’t matter if we got wet.
Shortly after my car was nice and clean.
I went up stairs to change into dry clothes and took Avery to the library.
We hung out there and did our homework.
*****
Monday was just like every other day in the week.
The only difference is that Sadie and I seem to be getting closer.
In Spanish class, she’s started talking to me. Well, I made the first move but still she didn’t push me away.
Avery and I have been going out on dates more often.
We’ve gotten closer.
Right now, I’m watching a football game with my dad.
The front door opened and my mom walked in.
“Guess what?” she smiled.
“What?” my dad asked turning down the T.V.
“You won’t believe who I bumped into at the supermarket,”
“Who?” I asked as Grace came down stairs.
“Betty Freedman,”
“Really?” my dad asked.
“Yes, she looks the same way. Anyway, it turns out they live around here. Jared do you remember Sadie?”
“Wait, my childhood sweetheart?”
“Yes,”
“She’s here?” I smiled.
“Yeah, I’m surprised you haven’t seen her at school,”
“Yeah me too,”
I thought for a monument.
Sadie Freedman, could that be the same Sadie as the Sadie at my school? She told me her initials are S.F it couldn’t be? Could it?
“Anyway, she might have grown out of sight or something,”
“Yeah, the high school is huge, I might have missed her,”
“That’s why I invited them over for dinner. We can reconnect,”
“That’s great, honey,” my dad said.
“Yeah,” I agreed.
“Sounds like fun,” Grace said.
I finished watching the game with my dad until my mom called us for dinner.
*****
The next day I picked up Avery and drove us to our school.
We walked to our locker hand in hand.
“Hey Jared,” Sadie said walking passed me with Mitchell’s arm around her. Mitchell is her boyfriend.
“Hey,”
“Do you still like her?” Avery asked closing her locker.
“Not as mush as I like you,” I said kissing her lips softly.
She smiled and we walked to class.
In the classroom we were talking to our friends when the sub walked in.
I love substitute teachers.
She took roll. I wasn’t paying attention until she called out, “Sadie Freedman?”
“Here,”
I turned my head to where the ‘here’ came from and my eyes landed on Sadie.
Sadie Freedman.
