"Goodbye."
I looked at him with my eyes full of tears. He stepped towards me and pulled me into a close embrace. I wrapped my arms tight around his body as I buried my face in his chest, taking in his lemongrass scent. I began to pull away, but he just held me tighter, not allowing me to escape.
"I'll try to come back soon," Coda whispered in my ear.
"Dakoda!" his step mom suddenly called. We both let go of each other to look at her.
"Let's go," she waved from the passenger seat of their midnight blue Mercedes. Coda signaled for her to give us another minute. He then smiled down at me and used the sleeve of his black sweater to wipe away the tears that had escaped.
"I'll miss you," he said, giving me another hug and then walking away to his car. As soon as the car door closed behind him, they pulled out of their driveway and out unto the road.
"Goodbye," I whispered.
