nothing left to give

“You owe me,” a fellow classmate told Quinn as they handed her a cigarette. She put it to her lips and thought about this for a moment.

“I have nothing left to give,” she answered, shrugging her shoulders and taking a drag. Her peer shrugged as well before walking off, leaving her in the parking lot. She sat down against her sister’s car and studied herself.

Her dignity was gone. Her trust was gone. Her virginity was gone. She didn’t even see a reason to keep breathing. What could she possibly give?

Nothing. Not one fucking thing.
