Stop Believing in the Lie

A Day I'll Never Forget

The day has started great. Alex just met Portia and now, we're on a tour of D.C.. With her never leaving Europe her entire life, her eyes open wide and she was in wonder.

"I love this. I wanna move here, now."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I am."

"Well, that's a pretty quick decision...you don't wanna think about it?"

She shook her head.

"Ok."

I'd love to have her move here, but she didn't really think about it. After parking minutes later, we were in front of the White House and ready to go visit.

"Ooh.. Sono così eccitata!" she exclaimed dashing out of the car.

I shook my head.

"What did she say?" Alex whispered.

"I'm so excited."

"I guess I should've assumed that."

"Yes, you should have."

He poked me.

"Did you just poke me?" I asked accusingly.

"Yeah. What you gonna do about it?"

I squinted my eyes and smirked.

"You wanna know?"

"Yes."

"You really wanna know?"

"Yes."

"Well, I'm gonna..."

I began tickling him. The look on his face was absolutely priceless. I laughed then ran away.

"You are crazy!" Alex said as he caught up to me.

"Thank you." I said before kissing him.

"Don't mention it." he said kissing back.

"Guys! Come on! Stop making out and let's go!"

"We weren't making out!" I said running up to her.

"Yeah...whatever. Your lips were still connected."

I jokingly rolled my eyes and held in laughter. I took Alex's hand and we began walking.

"What's first?" she asked.

"The Lincoln Memorial."

She nodded.

"It's so awesome to see this in person, instead of on the internet or on the television, you know?"

"Yep. This is my first time seeing this too. You've got to remember, I've been here over a month-and-a-half and haven't seen anything near the White House."

"Glad I'm not alone here." she said with a laugh.

"Geez...it is huge. Is it weird that I wanna go sit on his lap?"

"Just a little bit, Amelia. Just a little." Alex said laughing.

I took his hand as Portia took a few pictures.

"Amelia, take a picture of me in front of Lincoln."

I also took pictures with me and her going back and forth while going around the capital. As we were in front of the White House, my phone rang.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I asked.

"What's wrong?" Alex asked.

"My mom's calling. She knew you were coming...alright, I'm gonna answer it."

"Hello?" she asked.

"Hey Mom, what's up?"

"Not much. Just watching tv with your father. You?"

"Portia's here. Alex and I are giving her a tour of D.C."

"Oh, that's great! May I talk to her?"

"Of course! Let me get her."

She looked over as moved my phone away from my ear.

"My mom wants to talk to her."

She smiled and gestured for me to give her the phone. I laughed.

"Mrs. Cantioni, it's so nice to be able to speak to you!"

"It's nice to be able to talk to you! I've missed you!"

"I missed you too. How are things going?"

"Awesome. Amelia and Alex are taking me on a tour of D.C."

"I heard. Are you having a fun time?"

"Absolutely. It's the most fun I've had in a while."

"That's good. So, what do you think of D.C.?"

"I love it. I wanna move here."

"Wow. That was a quick decision. Are you sure?"

"100%."

"Well, I'm sure Amelia would love that."

"She may think it's crazy, but I'd have to agree."

She laughed.

"Yeah. Hey, I'll let you get back to your tour and could you give the phone back to Amelia real quick?"

"Of course. Bye."

"Bye. Keep having fun."

"I will."

Portia handed me the phone and I spoke to my mom once again.

"Hey."

"Hey. Honey, I'll let you go. You're all having so much fun."

"Bene. Ti amo."

"Anch'io ti amo."

"Ciao."

"Ciao."

I hung the phone up with a smile and put it back into my pocket.

"Good to go?" Alex asked.

"Good to go."

By the time dinner came around, I was feeling sleepy for some odd reason.

"Tired babe?" Alex asked as we sat down at our booth.

I nodded and leaned my head onto his shoulder.

"You're comfy."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

I heard a laugh come from Portia, who was trying to say something, but it wasn't coming out.

"You have something to say, Portia?" I asked with a smirk on my face.

She nodded.

"What is it?"

"You guys are just...ugh...too adorable!"

I laughed and blushed at the same time. Outside of games and post-games, this was one of the funnest days I have had since I moved here.

"What are you getting?" she asked.

We're at one of the finest Italian restaurants in the area. I knew she'd love it, so I figured I'd take her there. Tomorrow, we would be heading to a different kind of restaurant entirely.

"I'm getting their ravioli liguri. It's to die for."

"Really, now?"

"Yep."

"Does it live up to the ravioli liguri in our native Italy?"

"Yes. It comes pretty damn close."

"Well, I'll get that then."

20 Minutes Later

"So, what do you think?" I asked as we ate.

"A-fucking-mazing. You were right. Thank you."

"You're welcome." I said with a smirk.

By the time we got home, I started feeling nauseous and I had no idea why.

"Amelia, are you okay?" Alex asked worriedly as I began leaning on him.

I shook my head.

"Can we sit down?"

"Of course."

I laid down on the couch with my ankle propped up on a pillow, of course.

"I'm sorry, Portia."

"Why are you saying sorry?"

"I don't know. I'm just weird, I guess." I said laughing slightly.

She laughed a bit as well and sat on the chair next to me. Alex came back with a washcloth and a bucket even without me asking. I've never seen him this caring; it was so sweet. I wish it wasn't under these circumstances, but I honestly do appreciate it.

"Feelin' any better since ya laid down?"

"Eh...a little bit. Thank you." I said before kissing him on the cheek.

He blushed.

"Don't mention it. You mean the world to me."

I began to blush also and tear up.

"Aww..." I heard from Portia.

"You're too sweet. I hope you know that."

He smiled.

By 11, I started feeling well and I wanted to go out, but my boyfriend wasn't having it.

"Alex, come on. We fucking wanna go out. She's only here for one more day. Give me a fucking break." I said yelling at him.

"What if you start feeling that way again? Huh?! I'll never forgive myself."

"I hate you."

I walked away and into my bedroom where Portia was.

"What's wrong?"

"He's being an asshole. He won't let me go. He's afraid I'll start feeling yucky again...and...ugh. I hate him. "

"No, you don't."

"Yes, I do."

"He cares about you. He wouldn't do this if he didn't."

I began to tear up.

"I'm feeling fine, though. Let's go."

"Are you sure?"

"100%."

"Alright then, let's go."

I stormed out of the house as he was in the bathroom. Even though my ankle was still being a little bitch, we went out to a bar and began to bullshit.

"This is great. Isn't it?" I asked ready to clink my glass of rum 'n coke with hers.

"Oh yeah."

A couple hours later as we began to leave, we were stopped by a group of dirty looking guys. She looked at me with a panicked look, I shared the same with her.

"What the fuck do you guys want?" I asked boldly.

"You two. You fine pieces of ass."

I rolled my eyes.

"Come on, Portia. Let's get out here."

We were pushed against the wall.

"Let's go girls." they said pulling on our arms.

I said a silent prayer and hoped for the best as we were taken away to God-knows-where.

Sorry about the overly long wait. I really apologize. There's nothing like writer's block. It loves me. Anyway, I bet you weren't expecting that, were you? I needed something else to make it more exciting? Yeah, I think that's the word.

This sounds delicious, so I'd thought I'd share it with everyone.
