They Found You On The Bathroom Floor

An Adolescent Tragedy

Frank knew this was it.

He turned and made to hurtle towards the young man, maybe if he gave him a headstart, then the boy would catch on and get the hell out; but his shoelace was caught underneath the dank box and he fell headfirst into a pile of what appeared to be dog faeces mixed with someone's used toiletries.

Feeling utterly repulsed, he staggered back, wiping his muddy face on his sleeve, spitting out the crap in his mouth which seemed to taste oddly of his mother's cooking.

But the boy had heard, Frank's mouth opened to form a perfect "O" as the good looking boy's eyes were introduced to his...

Gerard's mind had closed down. He knew that if he thought about this, he would lose all bravery (or stupidity) that had momentarily taken over. His nostrils flared and his eyes seemed to burn as they made contact with Bob's, glaring through the blackened, soulless sockets that were Bob's eyes and burning a hole in the back of his head.

Everyone else faded slightly as his peripheral vision was somewhat impaired by his untamed fringe. But as he made to step defiantly forward, out of site of the alleyway in which he had felt the cowardice and fear of two minutes ago, he heard a crash behind him.

His head jerked, losing all supernatural powers he may have gained, and assuming Bob's henchmen were creeping up on him, he clenched his teeth and spun to confront the sneak.

But what Gerard saw, was not Bob's man, he was in fact the complete opposite. Gerard saw a young boy, around the same age as him.

His eyes were a velvet blue and his face was round and trusting. His all - but surreptitious movement had not been remotely threatening towards Gerard - who realised this when the boy's mouth dropped open to form a weak smile.

Gerard felt something down below twitch and, assuming rats had somehow managed to climb up his leg, jumped back in shock. But what he felt was not a rat, no, it was completely induced by the striking guy in front of him.

He realised seconds too late that this was a fatal mistake. Gerard's pause had allowed Bob enough time to send someone to get him, for of course, Bob was too important to do it himself. Gerard felt a pair of arms close in on his chest, crushing all the air from him and sending him involuntarily to his knees, wheezing and spluttering.

White lights flashed unceremoniously in front of his shrinking pupils and his head started throbbing in time with his gradually slowing pulse.

Assuming this was the end, Gerard cursed inside the still functioning part of his brain - surely a bullet would've been kinder? But Bob wasn't kind, and Gerard knew he was not merciful and he sneered down at Gerard with a triumphant glare on his bloated face.
Gerard let out his final breath - and as he did so, he felt the arms jerk away from his lungs. The binds constricting his breathing fall away and leaving him to choke and splutter alone on the very cold, very hard ground.

Clutching his aching ribs, he turned to face the scene.

The attractive young man was standing over his former captive. His legs were set in a fighting stance but Bob's thug did not appear to be very injured at primary glances. Gerard found himself lost for words, so instead nodded his overwhelming graditude to the guy - who smiled and held out a hand to pull him up off the ground.

His hand was soft at first touch, a little sweaty, but strong and comforting, and Gerard was pulled up with a seeming lack of effort.

"Frank" muttered the boy as they turned to face Bob once more, who was standing there as a tiger, preparing to attack might stand, "Iero"

Gerard saw the words flash in his brain, engraving them as the hero who had just saved his life.

"Gerard Way." he whispered back and saw the Frank's cocky smile widen. But it wasnt over yet, only one man was down - and he was already stirring.

Gerard mustered the filthiest look possible as the guy sat up and faced him - only to have it slide off his face, as effective as his efforts to throw the guy off had been. What it was replaced with was quite undescribable.

It was a look of one who felt hurt and betrayal but also indecent anger. Who felt tragic and cheated but also curious and rather violent. And these looks mingled together met Mikey Way as he sat up to face Gerard with an apologetic, yet defiant look on his face,

"Alright Bruv?"
