It was as if the sun itself were in the room, a beautiful ball of light. And when the luminescent flash faded, there was the most radiant girl i had ever seen. She had thick dark brown hair, messily crowded around her heart shaped face. She had light pink lips, that were full and pulled tightly in her sleep. Her long eyelashes moved as her eyes twitched behind her lids restlessly, before slowly opening and revealing light brown eyes that stared at him with solace.
Suddenly, all my worry and concern melted away. She was what i was being pulled to. This beautiful girl half awake before me was what had brought me to my knees gasping for air and relief. She was the only thing that mattered in this moment, as i felt my heart burst into step, thudding faster than it had before. This girl, who's name i didn't even know, was staring at me with a look of adoration and comfort i had never seen before but was surely mirrored on my face.
I felt it, as the room fell away. We were imprinted.

I couldn't breathe. I was being held under water, slammed in the chest, chocked in my sleep. I just couldn't breathe. i felt worried and scared, like suddenly a part of me was missing. Some crucial element was gone, and i could feel the pull from it like the pull of a magnet. My chest felt tight, the pressure on it growing intense. i clawed at my chest and squirmed around, trying to pull whatever was stopping my breathe off. Then it was gone. My whole body felt like i was caught, hovering just above the ground after falling hundreds of feet. Relief washed over me as i began to breathe slowly. My heart faltered, as i peeled my eyes open.
A saw a boy standing across the room looking at me, his deep charcoal eyes watching me as i fought consciousness. He was tall with wide shoulders, not quite built like Jake but with definite muscles. He wore a green hoodie almost completely unzipped, and i could see his russet skin of his broad chest and stomach underneath. He had short cropped black hair, and broad distinct cheekbones. He was attractive, to say the least.
And then he smiled, and i felt like everything just disappeared. The only thing that mattered was the bright smile flashing across his lips and the warm corners of his eyes as i felt instantly pulled to him. Warmth filled my chest, and it was as if i had known this boy for years. His eyes twinkled at me, as he took a step closer.
"Who are you," I breathed, feeling like my lungs would explode from my sudden intake of air. It wasn't really a question, more of a statement.
"Seth Clearwater." He took another small step towards me, and another, then another. i found myself trying to sit up, but being entangled in blankets the task was tiring. I was suddenly aware of Emmett, as he gently pulled me into a sitting position, and loosened the blankets around my shoulders. I was still leaning against him, my shoulders on his chest.
Seth looked at me curiously, tracing my face with his eyes. I realized he was trying to figure out who i was, "I'm Bethanie," My voice was quite, but sounded like thunder in the silent room.
"Bells' cousin, as in Charlie's niece?" He furrowed his dark brows, as i smiled and nodded.
"What's happening?" i murmured, looking deep into his eyes.
"We've imprinted," he said blankly, before kneeling on the floor infront one me. Not quite close enough to touch, but if i reached out..
"Imprinted?" My voice was laced, as confusion clouded my mind.
Jake's low voice rolled across the room, and i could hear him talking as i pushed myself to listen, "Bethie, there is something we've been meaning to tell you. Were not human." His voice was low and soothing, but the moment my brain registered his words, i could feel my eyes widen. A vivid memory raced through me, a wolf running.
"Wha-" I knew i should be terrified, but when i looked Seth in the eyes i couldn't be. He stared at me with understanding, and it was almost as if his eyes comforted me with the words his tongue didn't.
"We're werewolves," Seth began, placing his hand beside my leg, not touching but there if i wanted it, "But not quite. We're more or less Shape shifters in the form of wolves."
"You mean to tell me, you change into wolves?" My voice was strangely even.
"Yes," Seth's voice was wary, as he stared at me, "You're not going to freak, or scream, not even jump up?"
I cleared my throat, "No," I pulled back the blankets surrounding my legs and showed Seth my cast, "And i don't think jumping up is in my best interest."
Seth's jaw dropped as he saw the intimidating white closure around my leg. He shot Jacob a look, then repeated the process with Bella and Emmett. Bella shrugged, half sheepishly, "I never got the chance to explain it. She hasn't been here long. Just over two months."
"I'm so sorry," Seth's eyes were sad, his face looking tormented.
"It's fine," I stifled a small smile, "But I'd like to go home. Charlie's probably waiting up for me, and he's been really tired lately."
"Of course," Bella said, pulling me up as Emmett went to grab my sweater.
I laid my hand on Seth's arm, and felt a shock of heat roll through my shoulder to my chest. Taking a little breath i whispered, "i'll see you soon, right?" He smiled then, and nodded enthusiastically.
Emmett returned, and as i placed my arms on his shoulders i could feel Seth tense beside me. I shot my eyes to him, as Emmett swung me into his arms. He had a stifled look of anger on his face, and i quickly felt a ball of guilt growing in my stomach. Confused, i said my goodbyes to Seth and to Jake's back as we went out to the jeep.
Emmett buckled me in, and when he went to close my door i grabbed his hand, "What was that back there?" My voice was quieter than i wanted.
"There hasn't always been peaceful waters between us, Bethie." He closed the door tightly.
Later that night, i brushed my teeth and combed my hair as Charlie watched the recap of the game downstairs. my thoughts spun rampantly around my head, as i swung on my crutches back to my room. I found it shocking how much things seemed to change here, like it was a never ending time bomb.
I set my crutches against the bed, and scurried half-heartedly under the covers. I heard the television click off, and Charlie began to climb the stairs. He knocked softly on my door, and poked his head in, "You still awake, Kid?"
"I am, " I whispered into the night air, as Charlie pushed open the door and soft light flooded half the room. He sat on the edge of my bed, and pushed a chunk off hair from my face.
"I'm glad you here, Bethanie." He patted my hand, and smiled through the dark to me. I nodded my silent agreement and he leaned down to kiss my forehead. His voice was gentle, "Goodnight, Bethie. I've got a long day planned for us, tomorrow."
Closing the door behind him, Charlie crept off to his room leaving me in the dark. I sighed as i rolled over and thought about this shape-shifting-werewolf-boy. I felt attached to him, and without him there was a sinking feeling of loneliness in my stomach. But then i was reminded of what Emmett has said before closing the door, and my heart raced emphatically.
His voice ran through my ears, as my brain fought back with images of Seth. Him smiling, him looking at me with that moment of adoration, and his covered rage.
"There hasn't always been peaceful waters between us."
