Two Birds of a Feather

Chapter Three

The living room was large and spacious. I loved it. I couldn't help but smile when I spotted Sadie oogling over Emmett. I started laughing when I saw Rosalie fiercely glaring at her. I think that if it came to a fight, she could so take my sister. Edward silently nodded from his spot next to Alice, as if he had heard my thoughts.

As I awkwardly looked around, I noticed that there weren't any empty seats left so I plopped down on the floor infront of Bob and leant my back against his legs as I listened to him and Emmett intently debate on who would win the next football game.

Shortly after, Jasper came over and sat down next to me. "So..." He said looking around. "So..." I responded. "What year are you starting at school?" He asked suddenly turning toward me. "Junior. You?" I responded. "Same. Favorite color?" "Lilac," I said smiling. "It's the perfect shade of purple." "I think I like blue. Or maybe grey." He said leaning his head to the side and looking at nothing in particular.

"Why did you move here?" He asked turning back to me. "My mom got a job offer. You?" I asked. "My adoptive father, Carlisle," He said motioning to the kitchen, "Also got a job offer. He's an important doctor at the hospital...With your mother, I believe." "So, you were adopted? Just you, or the others as well?" I asked. I should have realized earlier. Carlisle and Esme look too young to have children who were practically adults already.

He just smiled. "Yes. Esme couldn't concieve but they were determined to be parents, so they pretty much just adopted us. At different times though, of course." "Oh." I said feeling stupid. "But your eyes. They're all the same..." I said looking into his. "A coinscidence." He said quickly, "Just a big, topaz coinscidence."

"What is there to do around here?" I asked, more for my siblings than me. "Not much to be honest. There's the usual outdoor things like hiking. A lot of the teenagers in Forks like to go to Port Angeles to shop and go to movies, so I guess there's that." Jasper responded after a few moments. I couldn't help but to laugh at him. "What?" He asked starting to chuckle as well. "I'm sorry. It's just, you sound like you're so much older than you actually are. That, or you're giving a report on the town. 'A lot of the teenagers in Forks...'" I said playfully mocking him.

"Well, maybe I am." He said jokingly. Or so I thought...
