She looked into his eyes, tears streaming down her pale face. "You promised me. You really promised me. Now, I don't even know what a promise means anymore." More tears fell from her eyes. He reached over, wiping them away with his thumb.
"I'm sorry, but you can't promise forever. That's a mistake that I've only just recently found out." He gently pushed the girl off of his lap, getting up and walking over to the door. "I'm sorry that it has to be this way. I didn't mean for this." He walked out and never came back, leaving her alone.
