The buzz around the hospital was that Frank Iero was coming. He wasn't Santa Claus, but he was almost as important. Kiersten still didn't know that he was coming. She was sleeping.
So when Frank Iero walked into his niece's room, guided by a nurse, he set the roses on her bedside table and looked at the girl. She had a striking resembleance to him, the eyes, hair and face was like his and his fathers' family.
The nurse left. Frank nudged the girls shoulder and waited for a response. "Kiersten?"
She woke up momentarily. Frank gave her a warm smile and looked into the cat-eyes so like his. "Hi honey. I'm your Uncle Frank."
She didn't smile and happiness wasn't in her eyes. "Uncle Fank? Why are you here?" She asked with a cold tone.
"Well sweetey, we're family, and I came to see you. Aren't you happy?" Frank asked, saddened by the response.
She looked out the window. "No, no I am not happy to see you. Can you even think why?" She said, still with a cold edge to her voice.
Frank looked helpless. "Um, I dunno."
Kiersten Iero looked back at her uncle for a moment and drank in the family resemblance.
"That's because I hate you."
