Olive and an Arrow

Ho Ho Hopefully

I can’t lie and say it didn’t break my heart to break up with Aria, because it killed me inside. But, I knew it was the best choice for her. I could see, anytime we were together, that her mind was elsewhere. Especially when Alex Gaskarth’s name came into the conversation.

After I left the coffee shop, I walked a few blocks towards the local studio that my band loved to record at. I zipped my jacket up as much as I could and shoved my hands into my pockets. It was damn freezing outside.

When I finally reached the studio, I was welcomed with a comforting blast of heat from inside. I shed the jacket from my torso and walked into the recording room. I tried to stay as upbeat and positive about the breakup, but it was extremely difficult. I shrugged the questions from my bandmates off and changed the topic.

I had stayed up late last night since I was restless thinking about what would happen today. During the night, I took advantage of my quiet surroundings and wrote a song for the upcoming winter holidays. I announced this to the rest of the band, showed them the music and lyrics and they loved it.

Since they were so enthused about my new song, they let me record it. We decided to do a demo first, then clean it up and add backup vocals, etcetera.

December 1st
I'm in a foreign state, I'm running late
I'm all alone, wishing I was home with you baby
She's got her way of making things okay when she's not around
When she's not around I'm going crazy
We like to talk about the plans we make
And things we say
When we're together I hope for better weather this year
But you my dear need to know
This year I want you alone

Ho ho hopefully
This holiday will make us believe that
We're exactly where we're supposed to be
And we're ho ho hoping that we all come back
And as a matter of fact I know we're exactly where we're supposed to be
Together by this Christmas tree

We go together like the winter and a sweater
And she makes me feel,
She makes me feel alive inside
And when I look into her eyes
I see the blue and green like Christmas lights
Like Christmas lights, oh what a sight.

She says I've got a way of making everything okay
She's not alone, she's not alone and never will be
Ho ho hopefully
This year I have you alone

Ho ho hopefully
This holiday will make us believe that
We're exactly where we're supposed to be
And we're ho ho hoping that we all come back
And as a matter of fact I know we're exactly where we're supposed to be
Together by this Christmas tree

Ooh
Ooh
Don't you go this year, I want you alone.

Baby I want you alone!

Ho ho hopefully
This holiday will make us believe that
We're exactly where we're supposed to be
Exactly where we're supposed to be
And we're ho ho hoping that we all come back
And as a matter of fact I know I'm exactly where I need to be
With you by this Christmas tree
Ooh
Together just you and me
Together by the Christmas tree

Alex’s POV

I can’t believe this. Aria is in love with me?

I don’t know when I became so lucky. I mean, for once the girl I am head-over-heels in love with actually loves me back. It made me not want to ever leave this kiss with her. It was perfect.

Hell, it was more than perfect.

Unfortunately, we’re both human and kissing for as long as we did, we ran out of oxygen. So, we both pulled away slightly. I stared deep into her eyes and couldn’t help but smile. I kissed her again softly, but just for a moment.

“Why would someone break up with the most perfect girl to exist?”

“Stop it,” she giggled, her perfect, dainty, adorable laugh. “I’m not perfect.”

“Oh, but that’s where you are wrong, my love. You are perfect. At least, I can’t see any flaws.”

My oh-so-smooth line was an apparent success as I got a long, romantic kiss for it in return.

“But seriously. Why the hell would he break up with you? I thought you guys were happy together?”

If you haven't heard of the song that John sings in this chapter, you should totally go listen to it. It's adorable, and my favorite <3 It's called Ho Ho Hopefully (by The Maine).
