Fancy Table

I quickly looked down to my schedule, trying to seem that I hadn't noticed him yet, as he continued to talk to some of his classmates nearby.

“Alright class, take your seats please.”

The woman that had entered the room was in her late fifties, under the average height, with grayish colored hair. Her plain glasses just added to her innocent appearance.

“Hah, you have this class too??”

I didn't need to look up in order to figure out that, that soothing voice was his.

“Oh, hey.” I smiled, purposely adding as though I had just realized it myself “Yeah, I do.” I nodded in agreement.

“Sweet.” He smiled, as though he really meant it “Looks like we’re gonna’ be partners too, haha.”

I slightly laughed until I realized that the empty seat next to me was in fact his. Scott took his seat next to me and said.

“By the way, her names Misses Baker, she's a cool teacher”

“That's cool, I noticed it in my schedule.”

“Ohh, right.”

“Yeah, haha.”

**

Scott and I had baked up a delicious chocolate cake together and throughout our time, he made me laugh and smile, my face was a mixture of pain and redness (from grinning and blushing too much).

“Okay class, it's time to put away your things and clean up your stations. The bell will be ringing in a couple of minutes.”

Misses, Baker had announced.

After Scott and I cleaned up, he seemed as though he was sort of following me now.

“Lunch time!”

Scott said excitedly.

“It is?” I smiled as he throw his arms above his head in excitement.

“Yup! And man am I hungry.”

“Haha, yeah me too.”

“Cool, then let’s go eat.” He smiled kindly.

“Okay, haha.” I returned the smile.

Scott led the way as I tried to keep up behind him. The crowds of students seemed like it was going to take a while to get used to.

“This is the cafeteria. And as you can see, there's a bunch of the typical high school groups that 'owns' most of the lunch tables. But don't worry; me and my buddy own one too! It's so fancy.” He grinned in amusement.

I laughed “Really? Fancy how?”

“Hah, fancy is a word I use for cool.”

“Haha, ohh. Well your lunch table sounds super fancy.” I smiled in acceptance.

“It totally is!”

I laughed once more “I can't wait to see it.”

He grinned “I can't wait to show it to you!”

We laughed together. Scott was really funny and kind, but it made me wonder why me?...Not that I was complaining here, but usually I'm invisible to really cute guys.

We stood in the lunch line, waiting to get to the food. Scott seemed fidgety the more closer we came to the food.

“Hah, are you okay?”

“Yeah, just really hungry. I get this way whenever I don't eat breakfast in the mornings, which is always, haha.”

“Ohhh, haha, awwwh.”

“Yeah. It's not that I choose not to, it's ‘cause I usually don't have the time to grab breakfast. And if I do, it isn't fulfilling, just a quick thing, like toast.”

“Hah, awww, but you need your protein and a full stomach.”

“Yeah, heh. But my homework comes first and then food.” He smiled.

I laughed and shook my head. He was obviously a straight A student.

“Do you have your school ID with you?”

“Oh, right. Yeah, right here.”

I quickly pulled out my ID.

“Cool, you’re gonna’ need it in order to get your lunch.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Yeah. It's like a credit card, heh. Just swipe it through the card machine like this.”

He grabbed my ID, slightly grazing my hand, which sent me light tingles by that one single touch.

After we received our lunch, we went to go sit at 'his' table.

“Hey Scott.”

The only guy sitting at Scott's table had greeted him. He was of Mexican origin, with his dark tanned skin, shiny thick and dark brown hair. He had a round face, thick and well-shaped eye brows that framed his dark brown eyes somewhat darkly, that were noticeable through his black thin framed glasses.

“Hey.”

I sat down next to Scott and slightly waved at his friend who just glanced my way, but hadn't said one word.

“Hi.”

“Vector this is Malean. She's new here. I met her in Art class today.”

“Hi. That's cool.” He tried to sound polite, but there was something hidden beneath it.

“See? Didn't I tell you my lunch table was fancy?”

“Haha, you suuure did. And I gotta say, it's totally fancier than I imagined haha.” I went along, trying to show Vector that I meant no harm.

Scott smiled, easily well pleased, unlike Vector was “So, you’re really from California??” Scott changed the subject, as though he noticed too.

“Yeah.”

“That's so cool 'cause I am too.”

My mouth slightly dropped from shock.

“Really??” I grinned “Wow!”

“Haha, yeah, Vector is too.”

Vector joined in.

“Yup, me and Scott basically grew up together where we used to live.”

“Aww, how cool.”

“Hah, yeah. So what part of California are you from?” Scott was eager to learn about me.

“I'm from the high desert. I lived in Littlecliff for years.”

“Wow, really?”

“Yeah, what about you?”

“Haha, really?!”

“Yeah, what?” I asked in confusion.

“I used to live in Pearlsbloom. I was born and raised there and Littlecliff was only like ten minutes away.” He grinned.

“...No way! Are you serious??”

I was so shocked and happy.

“I'm serious! I'm not joking. It's also where Vector lived too, in Littlecliff.”

“Really??” I looked over to Vector who was still silent.

“Yeah.” Was all he said.

“Oh my god, wow...shocking.”

Scott nodded and added as he tried ignoring Vector.

“Haha, yeah small world.”

“Haha, very. Ugh, don't you just miss Littlecliff though?”

I frowned a little in sadness, as memories began to unfold and continued.

“Yeah...gotta get used to this place though.” I couldn't help but hide my sadness.

Scott's gentle voice helped as he said.

“Don't worry about it, Colorado might not seem much, and is way different than where we used to live, but it has some really cool places to check out.”

“Yeah, so I've heard...probably gonna go do that with the family soon, heh.”

“That's good.”

Vector stood up from the lunch table.

“Hey Scott, I'm gonna go to my next class before it starts. I'll text you later.”

“Oh, okay then. Bye Vector.”

“Bye.”

“Bye Vector, nice meeting you.”

“Yeah, nice meeting you too. Bye.” What he said sounded far from the truth.

“So why did you and your family move all the way out here?? If it's too personal of a question, you don't have to tell me.”

Scott asked.

“No, no, t's not. Just my dad, he got a better job offer at the Olive Garden restaurant, but if he took it, he had to transfer...which meant moving out here.”

“Ohhh, I see.”

“Yeah.”

“But why take it?”

“Because it was a job offer for a manager position, which means a lot more money for the family.”

“Ahh, okay.”

“Yeah...so why did you move out here? But if it's too personal, you don't have to tell me either.”

“Nah, it's cool...just had a fallout with my mom recently; I couldn't stand her anymore...”

“...Ohh, I see...”

“Yeah, so I decided to move here, with my distant relatives who own a ranch, so they offered to pay for my college expenses for the Art Institute.”

“Wow, really, there's one out here?”

“Yeah, there's one in Denver.”

“Ohh, that's coo. So how have you been doing so far after moving out?” Now I was eager to learn about him.

“Really good, actually. Me and my cousin grew up together when I was younger (who I moved in with), so it's cool to be living with her after so many years from being apart. She's a sister to me.”

“Awwh, that's good.” I smiled at how sweet he really was.

“Yup. So what class do you have next?”

“Uhh, I don't know, not sure. Let me check.”

I pulled out my schedule, scanning past the classes I've been through so far.

“I haaaave...health class next.”

“Aww, laaame.”

“Haha, why? Is it a sucky class or something?”

“Heh, no. I was just hoping your next class was closer to my next one.” He admitted.

I couldn't help but smile.

“Aww, hah, I'm sorry.

“It’s cool.” His smile touched his eyes.

“So what's your next class?”

“World History.”

“Oh, cool.”

“Yeah. Can I take a look at your schedule, please?”

“Yeah sure, here you go.”

I handed him my schedule while wondering what he was planning to do.

He stayed silent as he read my classes.

“Hmm...oh my gosh!”

“Hah, what??”

“We do have another class together!”

“We do??”

“Yeah!”

“Haha, cool! Which one??”

“It's another elective class though. It's chorus class, sweeeeet.”

“Yay!” I was more than pleased “Awesome.”

“Totallyyy. I love to sing.”

My smiled wouldn't stop “Really?”

“Yeah. I like it.”

“Haha, me too. Though I don't really like singing in front of strangers.”

“Yeah, me neither, but Mr. Bearaqust gives you free will. So you don't have to sing all by yourself in front of the class if you don't want to. Totally makes it your choice.”

“Awesome.”

“Yup. Buuut you are gonna have to sing in front of him.”

“Awww, really?” I sounded somewhat disappointed.

“Haha, well yeah. That way he can figure out what's the highest note you can carry, so he can put you in one of the five categories in the class. Which is bass, baritone, tenor, alto, or soprano.”

“Ohhh, yeah, I've heard of that before. I wonder what I am.”

“I'm a tenor. And you can find that out whenever you have that class. Mr. Bearaqust can take you to the back room to help you if you’re too nervous to sing in front of everyone. He's a really cool teacher.”

“Really? That's good. Okay...hah, I'll probably end up going into the back room in that case.” I said truthfully.

“Haha, okay. But that means you’re gonna have to wait till the end of the class for that. And he might not like that 'cause he expects his students to be able to sing in front of anyone, especially if we have a concert to go to.”

I held my breath, he was right.

“Oh, wow...so I guess I better get that over with then.”

“Yeah. In the meantime, I can tell you where your other classes will be before lunch ends.”

“Oh, okay” I smiled in consideration “Thanks.”

After he explained and gave me directions on how to get to all my other classes his gaze suddenly went past my shoulder. His expression had gone to a sudden surprise, to a slight upsetting expression, which seemed under control.

I frowned and slightly turned my head to catch what he had been watching.

I watched a group of younger teens walking together. Their presence seemed dominating in a way, but at the same time protecting; patrolling the school. Their eyes relaxed their bodies tense.

There were three girls and three boys in the group. The tallest girl looked younger than the other two. She had a long slender body, short brown layered hair, with bangs that covered her dark brown eye-linered eyes that also had lots of eye shadow and mascara. Her body had been covered by many bracelets, such as band, silly bands, and leathered bracelets, while her neck had multiple necklaces, and earring studs. She wore skinny jeans, an anime t-shirt, Van shoes, and a studded belt. Her set of luscious thick lips, hid most of her teeth, but that didn't stop her from laughing at others jokes.

The second girl was paler and skinner than the first, but her eyes showed how mature she was, obviously being one of the oldest in the group. She had shoulder length, layered blonde hair that held a hint of sliver towards the top, which looked like freshly fallen snow that hid a bit of her blue eyes from her wavish bangs. And she wore baggy comfortable jeans, that were tight towards her hips, with holes around her knees, and a black long sleeved shirt that had a hood, and a baggy short-sleeved black shirt over it. Her quite presence and medium self-esteem were obvious, but her soft eyes showed how wise, careful, and good-hearted she was.

The third girl’s presence was the most inviting, even though her entire image was of black clothing, which fit her body nicely with her slight slender body. Her skin was pretty dark, but her features were surely of Mexican origin. Her deeply dark brown hair suited her face quite well with her large dark brown eyes (which were much noticeable with her black rec-tangled glasses), and her grand smile was the topping to her features. She obviously enjoyed cracking random jokes; with everyone else's laughter was her entertainment. And she looked about the same age as the second girl.

The guys walked together in an odd way. The youngest boy was also the shortest from the other two boys. He had dark brown hair, thick eye brows, with round bright blue eyes that framed his longish hair nicely. He was talkative, but the simple sweater that he wore seemed as though he were trying to hide from the world underneath his hoodie.

The second guy looked kind of like your average nerd (but cool), and from his style of comfortable clothing seemed he wasn't your typical nerd. His circled framed glasses, showed his blue eyes nicely. He had very dark brown hair, with just enough length to grab a hold of. His round and soft face seemed to give off a kind presence, even though his color of clothing were mostly of dark blue with a combination of white, and Converse shoes.

And the last guy, who walked in between the other two boys, was Nickloai. This time, Nick wasn't wearing his work uniform from the liquor store. His choice of wardrobe was as dark as the girl with the glasses, but more covered than anyone else in the group. His skull covered shirt was still pretty noticeable underneath his black trench coat, with his black steel toe combat-boots.

*...Nick?*

Nick1oai suddenly noticed me and began making his way towards me, with his group following easily.

I turned back to Scott before he began to wonder, but before my brain could even grasp at my explanation, Scott's bitter expression that went past my shoulder, made it vanish.

The look on his face sadden me, but I can tell it wasn't my doing to his changed emotions.

I was startled by Nick's voice from behind me.

“Hey, Malean!”

I slightly turned around.

“Oh, hey.”

Suddenly, there was a noticeable tension in the air, which made me look back to Scott.

Scott's expression seemed to have hardened from Nick's presence.

I slightly frowned at this and looked back to Nick, wondering if he's noticed this yet.

And he did; his grin had faded and turned into a dark stare directly at Scott (and oddly enough, Nick's group had also been giving their share of dirty looks towards Scott).

“...Um, do you guys know each other...?”

Nick shrugged to my question, as he continued giving off the angry vibe, but Scott finally broke the (what seemed to be) dark staring contest by giving Nick one last dirty look before getting up and leaving without a backwards glance.

And just like that, Nick was back to grinning again.

“So, what's up?”

I frowned in confusion.

“...Um...” I shook my head in confusion “Nothing....so if you don't know Scott, then what the heck was that about just now??”

Nick totally ignored me and went on.

“That's cool. I'm just hanging out with my group of friends. Hey guys, this is Malean, the new girl I was telling you about.”

*...Oookaaay...*

The last of his sentence made me slightly frown. And now his groups of friend’s eyes were all on me, as Nick began pointing to each one of them to introduce them.

“That's Alexandra.”

He pointed to her, the tallest girl in the group, but obviously the youngest.

She kinda waved my way and shyly said.

“Alex or Allie for short.” She smiled.

Nick went on.

“That's Leira.”

Leira was the girl with the blonde hair. She smiled and said “hi”.

“And that's Juno.”

Juno's eyes sparkled from behind her glasses, as she slightly smiled, raised her hand, and gave off a simple

“hey.”

Then Nick went on to introduce the guys.

“That's Drayor or Dray.”

Drayor said “hey” as Nick went on to the last guy in his group.

“And that's James right there.”

James pushed up his glasses smiled and said “hello”.

I gave my last wave to James, right when the school bell rang. Ordering everyone to get to their next class.

I know...it's been very long since I've updated, but I had to find a replacement for one of the characters, and I didn't find one until a couple of days ago. But then I started working as soon as I figured out who was going to be in the story. :) And that would be one of my best friends, Aaron! Mibba name: Qwertymann. :)
