Green Eyes, Blue Skies

All I Ever Think About Is You.

"Shitfuck!" Allie cursed mentally. The rain hadn't let up, it actually seemed to be coming down even harder!
She bit her lip as she stepped one sandaled foot out into the downpour before covering her head and stomping through puddles to get to her bus. By the time she had reached her bus, she was out of breath and soaking wet. She sat down in the nearest empty seat and crossed her arms, keeping her bookbag close to her on her lap. The bus wasn't much warmer, and she had goosebumps all over from the cold rain.
Almost as soon as she sat down did her phone vibrate in her bag. She checked the ID, saw it was from Jake, and decided to open the message. He was in a few of her classes again this year, and she was quite happy. Jake was a great guy to be around, and he's helped her through a lot of things before. This year looked promising, and she couldn't help but smile when she though about school now, even if it wasn't necessarily the classes she was smiling about.
"Come on Allie!" Jack tapped her shoulder as he walked past her, dragging her out of her thoughts as she looked out the window at the dreary picture outside. June was behind him, looking quite impatient while she waited for him to continue walking so they could get off of the bus and finally go home.
"Oh, sorry guys." She stood up, putting her phone back in her bag and stepping out in front of 13-year-old Jack. He and June both had hoodies that would keep them warm enough for the short walk down the road to their house, but Allie grit her teeth as she stepped back into the rain and started to run, looking back every once in a while to make sure the twins were right behind her.
Once they had all gotten inside the warm comfort of their house, Jack and June immediatly went to the table to get out their schoolbooks to work, while Allie walked back to her room to change into something dry.
"Make sure you guys change before you sit there watching TV in wet clothing! You know how mom and dad are, and I don't want to be blamed when you guys get sick."
"We're not watching TV, we're doing homework!" Allie heard her sister call back to her. She knew that they were just setting up their work at the table so they could look like they were working while they were really paying attention to whatever program was on.
As Allie rummaged through drawers for something warm, she couldn't help but think of many things. For starters, there was that party this weekend that Kyle had mentioned, which she was still very unsure about. It all came down to whether she had family plans, and also whether any of her teachers were evil enough to assign homework on the weekend.
"Speaking of homework..." She mumbled to herself taking out her assigned book for English. She had no desire to read it, let alone start it now, but she knew that if she didn't start it know, it would never be read.
However, she set it back down after reading just the first paragraph and grabbed the house phone, quickly dialing a friend's number. After waiting a few rings, she heard a familiar voice on the other end and smiled. May was a sweet girl, but she would tell her to get off the phone and "read that damn book" if she found out that she had called in hopes of getting a good distraction. Thankfully, May had ended up talking about her day, leaving Allie laughing at some things and annoyed at others.
"So how was your day?" May asked from the other end, who managed to stop long enough to get out a question. Allie's mouth curved up in a reluctant smile.
"Honestly? It was pretty great..." She started to retell every interesting bit of her day, mainly the parts with Shaant, to May, who stayed quiet until the end.
"Oh, so who's this new boy? It seems like you like him quite a lot. Oh-maybe he's going to the party! You should ask to see if he's going!"
"I don't really like him, not like that, I don't think," Allie explained turning red, "but he's very nice. Don't mention anything about it to anyone yet though. And I didn't even think about that!"
"Next time you talk to him, you better say something. And don't worry, I won't say anything. But you need to show him to me sometime soon! I really want to see what this boy looks like."
"Don't worry, I'll do both." She got butterflies in her stomach as she thought about talking to him again tomorow, and even the possibility of hanging out with him at the party-if she went. Right now, she was still a bit confused about how she really felt about him. As much as she wanted to allow herself to just like him, she couldn't. She was still very scared that he would hurt her just like the last guy did. As nice as he seemed, she knew that some people had two sides, and she just had to wait and see just how many sides he really had.
