When I was a Kid

I used to think

54321When I was a kid, I used to think that a day off was when an 54321employee was given a mission to turn something important off;

“Kids, gather around.”

54321that it was okay to mix my family's leftover food and drinks into a 54321gooey mess on my plate when we're at a restaurant;

“Line up to get your presents from kuya Mikko.”

54321and that getting presents were better than receiving them.
54321But now, what with this little girl giving my legs a hug and smiling 54321her goofy smile,

“Thank you, kuya Mikko.”

54321I'm glad to have grown up enough to know which one is really 54321better.

"Kuya" means "big brother." I know using the English words (2 instead of 1) can still put this in a drabble category, i.e. 90-110 words, but the meaning is kind of different. So I used the other word. I hope you don't mind. :)

I like any kind of comments as long as they're honest. I don't care if it's harsh, as long as it's really what you think.

And a question! Where did this story occur? Like, what setting?

You can check out my other stories, if you want.
