At the age of nineteen, Sayen became pregnant by a vampire. A vampire that turned his back on her and her daughter, Vivian. Five years later, she's returned to the reservation and Vivian is the physical and intellectual equivalent of a seventeen year old. She's also dating Embry Call.

After being invited to a cook out, Sayen finds the one person who might be able to save her from herself, but he's just as confused and fucked up as she is. His name is Paul...and his son's name is Grant.
