Lyrical Lies

I woke up in his arms. Frank's arms. It was nice. His arms were soft and warm.

I almost smiled, but then, I remembered. I remembered why my eyes stung from crying. Why I was lying here in Frank's arms.

My mom was dead.

My body shook as everything came back to me. I must have woken Frank up because his arms gripped me tighter.

"Violet," he whispered into my ear.

I turned my body around to face him. I looked into his eyes. I felt like I was melting. I could feel his colors wrapping themselves around me. Wrapping me into a safe cocoon.

His fingers traced the lines of my face. They barely touched my skin.

"Frank, don't leave me."

He knew what I meant. Don't leave me like everyone I have ever loved. My Dad. Heather. My Mom. Don't leave me alone.

He smiled.

"I would never leave you."

I could taste the sweetness in his voice. It was crisp and soft.

"Do you know why Violet?" he asked me.

I shook my head. I didn't know why. Why he would be any different from anyone else.

"Because leaving would hurt you. I promise I will never hurt you."
