Let Go

Unexpected

“Sergio Ramos hurry your ass up.” Margarite Casillas exclaimed.

“I’m walking as fast as I can. It’s not my fault this girl had to arrive on a flight at one in the morning.” he yawned.

The young girl rolled her eyes as they both came to a stop outside of baggage claim. One anxiously awaiting her best friend’s arrival and the other doing all he could to keep his eyes open. Margarite was first introduced to Gabriella Rivera at New York University four and a half years ago. Gabriella was attending college outside of California, majoring in Photography while earning a minor in Spanish. The two had instantly connected while sharing a dorm room, being able to click over the smallest of things. After sharing a dorm room for four years, whenever the two were together they were inseparable.

Margarite and Gabriella had stayed in touch the last few months, both traveling to each others homes for frequent visits. After receiving a phone call, in which Gabriella expressed her wish to get out of Los Angeles for a few weeks, Margarite didn’t think twice about asking her to come to Madrid.

“Remind me again why I had to come?” Sergio asked.

She rolled her eyes finding him slumped against a column looking like he was going to fall asleep at any second. She felt bad for a smidgen of a second thinking that he probably just wanted a chance to relax after winning the World Cup less than a month ago but as she thought about all the times he had denied her and her brother sleep all of her guilt washed away.

“Because Cristiano is on vacation and you know Iker is a rock when he’s asleep.” She explained.

The half asleep man just groaned trying to get comfortable from his position on the floor as a voice rained over the loudspeaker that flight 418 from New York had arrived and was unloading. Margarite couldn’t help but rock back and forth on her heels in anticipation as her phone vibrated signaling she had received a text message.

‘We just landed. See you soon.’

She smiled at the text from Gab and dropped her phone back into her purse before turning around to find Sergio asleep his mouth hanging wide open.

“Get up, Gabby’s going to be here any minute.” She said hitting him in the side with her purse.

“That is abuse! God, what do you keep in that thing?” he questioned rubbing his side as he stood up.

“Are you just trying to make me regret bringing you?”

“Is it working?” he asked hopefully.

“Not a chance, I know you too well Ramos.”

He sighed but his attention was quickly caught when he heard Margarite squeal and run towards the entranceway. He managed to see the girl she was running towards to and he was positive his mouth had fallen open as he gazed upon the beauty in front of him. She had the face of a goddess, with flowing hair that matched his, and the most beautiful hazel eyes with specks of green in them that he had laid his eyes on. Her body was slim yet had curves in all the right places and even though she appeared to be shorter than him his eyes couldn’t help but wander down her legs and back up again wondering just how smooth they would feel beneath his palm.

Sergio was so distracted by taking in the beauty in front of him he failed to notice her moving and coming to stand directly in front of him.

“Sergio this is my best friend Gabriella and Gabby this is Sergio Ramos, I’m skeptical on claiming him as one of my own friends.” she said introducing the two and whispering the last part to Gabby.

“It’s a pleasure.” Gabriella said.

“Really, the pleasure’s all mine.” Sergio said taking his hand in hers and kissing it.

She smiled at his action and batted her eyelashes, looking down at her and getting weak in the knees for the first time in his twenty-four years of life.

“Come on, let’s go home. I’m sure your exhausted and I know Sergio. He fell asleep waiting for you.” Margarite said.

Gabby smiled as Margarite linked her arm through hers, instructing Sergio to grab her suitcases. He did this without protest, finding himself thinking that he would jump off a bridge if this girl asked him. The thought was ridiculous considering he hadn’t known her for five minutes but it invaded his mind nonetheless.

Sergio barely managed to keep up with the conversation the two girls were having in the front seats of Margarite’s BMW she had received from Iker as a graduation present. He tried to keep up with their talking as they switched back and forth between Spanish and English, but found himself losing focus as they changed subjects every few minutes. It was like they knew exactly what the other was talking about without uttering a word and it wasn’t helping that they seemed to talk at fifty miles an hour.

The trio arrived at Iker’s house in less than thirty minutes, considering there wasn’t exactly a lot of traffic at two in the morning. Gabriella tried to hide the fact that her mouth fell open at the sight of the mansion in front of her. She had seen Iker’s previous home but this one couldn’t hold a flame to it.

Margarite lead Gabby up to her room, straight across from Iker’s, helping her get settled in before bidding her goodnight. When she walked back downstairs she discovered Sergio laying on the couch, looking like he was about to fall asleep with his eyes open.

“Come on Ramos, let’s get you in bed.” she said with a pat on the shoulder.

He looked up hopefully at her, his body melting at the thought of a bed. She smiled at him and he jumped up at the thought of sleep. She led him up to another one of the guest rooms and was fixing to walk out the door when his words stopped her in her tracks.

“You didn’t tell me Gabriella looks like an angel.”

“You didn’t ask but before you even go there I’m warning you. You break her heart I’ll break your legs and cut your hair.” she threatened.

This earned a grimace at him, the thought of anyone bringing harm to his treasured locks and his legs was enough to make him flinch just at the thought.

“Point taken.” he yawned.

As he drifted off to sleep his mind wandered of and he found himself wondering how Gabriella would feel wrapped in his arms. That last coherent thought was enough to put Sergio Ramos to sleep with a content smile on his face.
