Bloodlust

Andy

“Are you sure they’re okay?” Sebastian asked me for the hundredth time. We were walking in an abandoned neighborhood. Soft thunder rumbled over us in dark, heavy storm clouds. “They’re fine. I promise. They got out before the house collapsed.” Sebastian smiled and continued to look forward. “This place looks strangely familiar…” Sebastian mumbled. He looked at the houses we paced by. Melancholy hung heavy over this place. I looked over at Sebby and saw his face was full of sadness, pain, and anger. “Did you used to live her Sebastian?” He nodded his head, and then his face showed some hope in it. “Maybe they’re still here!” Sebastian took off running towards a two story house across the street. “Sebastian! Wait!” I ran after him, still wishing I could fly. I would be able to get to him faster. I couldn't run my full speed due to not getting enough blood, but I still caught up to him.

He was trying to claw the front door open. I grabbed his hands away from the door and kicked it open. Once the door opened, Sebastian ran inside and ran up the stairs. I followed in slowly and cautiously. The house was dark and all gaps, windows, and holes were boarded up. I walked in the living room. The darkness in it consumed of a fire place, couch, coffee table, two love seats, and a few dusty pictures hanging from the walls. I heard Sebastian’s footsteps go frantic. I rushed up the stairs, making sure my wings didn't catch any wind or unfold, which as very difficult. Once I reached the top of the stairs, I saw along the walls to my left, were smeared with dried blood. They were in the shape of fingers, dragging and clawing at the walls, trying to get away from something, or someone.

I heard a strange breathing noise coming from down the hall, in the last door on the right. I walked towards it slowly. A dark figure, walking on four legs, stumbled out of the room; blood was dripping from its mouth and eyes. It was a death dog. Its black fur was matted with dried blood and dirt. It had no eyes, but deep, dark pits for where its eyes were supposed to be. It walked in another room, not even noticing me. I walked quickly and silently into the room it came out of. “Sebastian?” I whispered. The room's walls were covered in blood. Sebastian was huddled in a corner, shaking. Blood was all over his arms and some smeared on his face. “Sebastian!” I raced over to him and knelt down next to him.

“Aaaannndreeew?” I heard someone call me in a weird, demonic growl. I looked behind me and saw the black dog standing there, blood dripping down its mouth. Sebastian started to whimper. I looked at him and saw he was crying. “What’d you do to him?!” I screamed at the dog. “Nothing, Andrew. Why do you love that filthy mundane anyway? You’re just using it for your own pleasure.” The dog morphed into a human shape. It was smoke like, its eyes were still dark chasms and its mouth was stitched shut with black stitches. Its fingers were long claws and its face was pale white. Some spots were dripping blood and flesh from its arms and neck. “You look scared Andrew.” The creature smirked. “Are you?”

“N-no. I’m not.” I was. I was terrified. Sebastian started sobbing. “Sebastian, shh, hush.” I whispered to him. He nodded and stopped crying a little. “Why love something you can never have? It humors me greatly.” I hugged Sebby close, ignoring what ever the fuck that thing was saying. “You’ll lose him someday. I can see it as plain as day. You’re like a person with scissors for hands, trying to hold on to his heart. Can you see the outcome to that?” I just realized that this creature was not a death dog, but a fallen demon, an outcast from Hell. They see all that will happen, but they twist the truth, making everything they say half truth, half lies. My heart sank. “You’re quiet Andrew. Your mind is quiet. Odd. Demon’s minds aren't usually silent.” The fallen demon stumbled a little towards us. Sebastian pushed himself more into the wall. I looked at him and had some relief. He’s eyes were back to those stunning jade green.

“Can you help us get somewhere?” I asked. It cocked its head to one side and smiled. “Sure, but what do I get in return?” Damn. I didn't have anything for him to take. I couldn't give him a soul because I already lost mine. No humanity. Nothing.

I sighed. “I don’t have anything worth letting go.” Sebastian was trembling next to me.

“What about your wings. Those you don’t need. You can’t even fly-”

“I’m keeping them!” I growled. At least one good thing about these wings is the tips are like daggers, good for slicing. “Fine, then. No trade.” The creature morphed back into its dog form and sauntered out of the room. I heard it walking down the stairs and then silence.

I picked Sebastian up, holding him bridal style, and walked out of the room slowly. I walked down the corridor, looking everywhere cautiously. Once we were at the bottom of the stairs, I bolted out the front door. I placed Sebastian down to where he was back standing. He ran away from me. “Sebastian! Come back!” I ran after him again. He ran down the street and cut into a yard, jumped a fence, and was gone. I groaned in frustration. I flapped my wings to see if I get some air while running. I hit a gust and glided for a minute, then landed back on my feet. I tried again, and hit a huge gust and was pushed 20 feet off the ground. I leveled myself with a few flaps of my wings and flew towards the direction Sebastian ran in.

After some sharp diving and almost crashing into the ground, trees, and buildings, I finally found where Sebastian was. I circled over him for a few minutes. He was sitting in an alley, hugging his knees to himself. I slightly dove down and landed neatly to the ground. I ran into the alley and crouched down near him. Once he saw me he ran again. “Sebastian!” I half growled and half hissed. He stopped and looked at me with hurt in his eyes. “Stop running and tell me what’s wrong.” I said calmly. I stood up and walked over to him slowly. Sebastian didn't run away, but he was tense. I reached out and took his hand gently. I moved closer towards him and kissed his neck softly. I could feel him shudder slightly. “I was just scared. I’m sorry.” He whispered. I looked at him and gave him a small smile. “It’s OK, baby. I know. I was scared too, but it’s alright now. We’re close to where we were going.” Sebastian bit his lip and slightly groaned in frustration. “What’s wrong?” I asked. Sebastian came closer to me and kissed me on the lips softly. I wrapped my arms around his waist and kissed back, which then turned heavy with passion and frustration. We pulled away gasping for breath. “Come on. Let’s go.”

We came in front of an old, abandoned sky scraper hotel in the downtown area of the town. We walked inside and I pulled Sebastian to the elevator. “They don’t work anymore Andy.” Sebastian said timidly. “Yes they do.” I smirked. We got in one and I pressed the button to go to the ground floor. The elevator started to descent down towards the ground levels.

Sebastian clung on to me tight. I stroked his back to comfort him. “Hey Andy, What was the thing in my mom’s house?” I looked at him. “It was a fallen demon. Don’t worry about what it said. It tells the truth, but that thing twists it into a lie.” Sebastian nodded.

The elevator stopped and the door opened, reveling darkness; the only light was coming from a faint bulb in the elevator. I walked out and dragged Sebastian out with me. “Andy, I’m scared.” He whispered. “Don’t be. We’ll be safe here.” I reassured him. Our voices slightly echoed in the large, dark room. “Jag! Where are you?” I called out. I heard rustling and stumbling. Sebastian hid in one of my wings. The lights turned on, filling the room with a soft glow. Jag walked up to us. He was a 5’7 fallen angel that I was friends with. His wings were white with smudges of blood on them. He was wearing some black pants and a gray V-neck shirt.

Jag stopped in front of us and tilted his head to look at Sebastian behind me. He smiled. “And who might you be?” Sebastian came out a little. “My name is Sebastian.” He said quietly.

“Jag, can you help us out here? Beduroa came to my house and tried to take Sebastian away. I sent him back to Heaven, but he might come back.” Jag sighed. “We can help you. Come on. Lets get you two cleaned up and fed.” I dragged Sebby with me as I followed Jag into a bolted up door. Once Jag opened it, I saw endless stairs going deep into the ground. Sebastian whimpered. “Shh, it’s going to be OK.” I kissed him on the cheek. Jag chuckled softly. We went down the stairs until we reached a cave like room with a door at the end of it. Jag beckoned us to continue following him. He opened the door and revealed a huge room. People, or demons, fairies, warlocks, fallen angels, witches, and a few others, were going about their everyday lives as if nothing was happening. Jag walked in. “ Come on, let me give y'all a room” We followed him silently. People stared at us, but didn't give us any looks of disgust, but welcoming and curiosity.

We went down a few hallways and reached a room with a black door. Jag opened it. "Make yourself at home. Yell if you need anything.” And with that, Jag left the room. The room consisted of a queen sized bed with black, silk covers and black pillows, a love seat in the left hand corner, and a bathroom and closet filled with clothes. Sebastian sat on the bed. “Can I have a shirt? It’s kind of cold in here.” I nodded and went to search for a shirt in the closet. I found him a light blue V neck shirt and tossed it to him. “Thanks.” He said and slipped it on. “Hey, um, Andy?”

“Yes?” I said from the closet. “How are you going to get a shirt on? You know, because of the wings.” I laughed softly. “You’ll see.” I found a black, short sleeved shirt. I folded my wings tight against my sides and slipped the shirt on. I then cut two long gashes in the back so my wings can come out. One I got my wings comfortable to the shirt, I went out of the walk in closet with a pair of boxers and some jeans and placed them in Sebby’s lap. “Go take a shower. I’m going to go see if I can get something to eat.” I gave him a quick kiss and went out the door as he went into the bathroom.
