I Woke up Next to Lukas Podolski and Holy Crap We're Married

Shopping With The Best

*Lukas POV*
I wasn’t in the best of moods when I woke up the next morning. The events of the day before had taken a toll on me. I wasn’t very use to the fact that a person could hate me in such a gut wrenching way but Reyna’s mother did and the feeling was mutual. But it was almost losing Reyna that had showed me how much I really needed her and had made me face the facts. I was in love with her and there was no way in hell that I wanted her to leave me. Till the day I died I would regret not being there to see her stand up for herself. The fact that Reyna had given up her family to be with me must be hard on her and I wondered if she might blame me for it, I was worried about how she was faring.
I took a quick shower and put on some sweats and a white t-shirt for practice before grabbing my bag and going downstairs. I was half-way down when I was greeted by a delicious aroma. I sniffed the air and entered the kitchen to find Reyna at the stove. I took in the sight of the table set for two with flowers in the middle. There was fresh orange juice as well as bacon, hash brown, and eggs already there. I turned my eye to Reyna’s back to see that she was making pancakes as she hummed. I guess she was fine…in both ways. She was wearing a dress that started at mid thigh and clung to her body the way I wanted to. It was black until it reached below her breast and then had dark blue flowers printed. At that moment, she scratched the back of her leg with the tip of her blue heels and I must have made a noise to alert her of my presence because she whirled around. Too bad she was still holding on to the pan and the pancake came straight at me. It hit me square in the face and I brought my hand up to my eye.
“Ouch!”
“Oh my god Lukas! Are you alright?” I heard rather than saw Reyna’s heels click on the floor as she ran to me since I couldn’t see.
“This was not how I envisioned the day during out,” I said as I felt her soft hands wrap around my wrist as she pulled my hand away to see the damage. “Being attacked and defeated by a pancake is just demoralizing.”
She chuckled near me as I felt her breath tickle my face, “If you want to be technical it was just startled and defend itself.”
“Like the cookies?” I smiled thinking of the stormy night all those months ago.
“Perfect example to show that you set yourself up for these things,” she chided gently, running her hand soothingly across my cheeks.
“I think we should just not mention this to anyone.”
“Deal,” she laughed, her chest brushing mine slightly with her movement. I sucked in my breath and tried to bring myself back under control.
“I think some got in my eye,” I made up just so I could have her close. I placed my hands on her narrow waist as she tilted my chin.
“I don’t see anything,” Reyna replied.
“You better kiss it just to be safe,” I told her squinting my eyes open to see her smile.
Reyna leaned close and was a mere whisper of a breath away from my cheek when she stopped, “I think you’ve already had a kiss from a pancake to satisfy you.” She gave me a cheeky grin and distanced herself from me. I swear she may have swayed her hips so seductively to torture me. “Go sit, I made you breakfast to say I’m sorry.”
“You’re sorry?” I asked making a wide circle around her tempting body and sitting down.
“Yes, for yesterday.” Reyna brought the pancakes that weren’t on the floor and placed them next to me as she nervously played with her ring. “You are an amazing person and I should never have—.”
She squealed as I grabbed her waist and sat her down on my lap.
“It is forgotten, libeling.” I brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear, making sure to brush the side of her neck and feeling her hammering pulse. “I was scared that you would be mad at me for having to break the ties to your family.”
“Never! You gave me the strength to do what I should have done a long time ago.” Reyna reached up and placed her hand over where mine was resting on her shoulder. “Thank you Lukas.” I bowed my head in acknowledgement as my gaze went to her mouth. I wanted to kiss her so badly but when I moved to do so she leaned back, biting her lip to keep from laughing at the groan of disappointment I gave.
“Don’t tease with me Reyna,” I growled as I tried to kiss her again while she leaned back even more.
“You torture me all the time and I would like to return the favor,” Reyna’s eyes sparkled in humor at the look I gave her. All I could think of was the passion that was pulsing through my veins and I didn’t really react rationally. On instinct I held on to Reyna with one hand and swiped my other arm across the table, all the dishes and food crashing to the floor.
“Lukas! It took all morning to cook and you broke your plates!” She gasped in surprise. I set her on the now clear table and stood leaning into her, drawing in her intoxicating scent. Just as before she leaned back from my advances but soon found herself lying flat on the table.
“Can’t go anywhere now,” I said huskily placing my hands on either side of her head. Reyna’s eyes no longer held playfulness but desire. I closed the small distance between us and kissed her. I took it slow, intentionally building the tension with small flicks of my tongue and nips until she was arching her back in need. Her hands slid under my shirt and caressed my back as it flexed. I couldn’t hold back anymore and kissed her harder and with more hunger. One hand stroked her side and when it arrived at her thigh lifted it so that it was wrapped around my waist.
Without thinking I stood without breaking our kiss and with Reyna still in my arm, intent on going to my bedroom when a noise broke into my pleasure drunk state. I lifted my head and almost ignored the strange sound when I heard Reyna hiss at the loss of touch but it came again.
“Shit, shit, shit,” I said out loud, hearing footsteps. Reyna must have too because she snapped to reality and quickly took a few steps out of my arm to lean against the counter. Not a moment later Bastian walked into the room whistling.
“Good morning,” he said cheerfully.
“Bastian,” I responded trying not to sound too out of breath to clue my friend on what Reyna and I had been doing. “The spare key I gave you to my house is for emergencies only not so you can burst in anytime.”
“It was an emergency,” Bastian replied to the pointed look I gave him. “I need to tell you that we have practice an hour earlier.”
I sighed in defeat, not bothering to ask why he hadn’t just called and went to grab my bag. Bastian’s gaze landed on the broken plates, glass, and food on the ground.
“What the hell happened?”
“I-I tripped and landed across the table,” Reyna said quickly as I let a chuckle escape which I quickly turned into a cough.
Bastian looked back at me and I confirmed what Reyna had said, “That’s right. We should go now.”
“Aren’t you going to help clean up?” Bastian asked.
Before I could say anything Reyna jumped in, “I got it, you guys have a good practice.”
“Shall we?” I questioned Bastian with a sweep of my hands to gesture he should go first. Reyna was starting to turn red and we had to get Bastian out of there fast. Bastian looked suspiciously at the two of us before walking out the kitchen. “Bye Reyna.”
“See you tonight,” Reyna replied a blush now completely covering her cheeks. I couldn’t help giving her a quick peck on her lips before following Bastian.
I walked out of my house door to find Bastian leaning against his car and arms folded across his chest.
“I am not stupid so what really happened?” he asked. I moved to the passenger side of his car because Reyna was going to take my car to work today.
I smirked as I opened the door to the car, “Let’s just say you have terrible timing.”
*Monika POV*
My day had not started well and it seemed to have gone straight to hell when a familiar car drove past me. I fumed when I realized that it wasn’t Lukas driving but the bitch that had stolen him away. Why the hell had Lukas let her get behind the wheel of his precious car?! He had never let me drive it! I walked a little faster, my heels angrily clicking the sidewalk as I shifted my shopping bags in my hands. I really hated when I didn’t have a man. One being because I actually had to buy my own things, and then I had to carry them everywhere. I poked my head and saw that Re-whatever had parked and was walking into the hotel through the back. When she had disappeared inside, I made my way to the same door to follow her but couldn’t when I saw you had to have a key to open it.
Swearing in my head and retracing my steps, I stepped into the hotel through the front door. There was no way I was going to miss this chance to follow the slut and see if there was any more information that I could gather that I could use against her. The drunk marriage thing was a start but I knew that even if it were true Lukas had developed some feelings—however misguided—for the home wrecker and I was going to have to play dirty.
I glided through the deserted lobby and went down one of the hallways looking for a door that would lead me to the back. I was passing a room that had their door ajar when the words stopped me dead in my tracks.
“You’re telling me that the love of my life is leaving me for this Lukas character!” yelled a young male voice.
“I told Reyna she was being ridiculous but she wouldn’t listen,” a woman with a sharp voice answered.
The male swore a little, “I want her back.”
“And you will get her.”
“How?”
“I’m not sure Matt but we’ll figure something out.” The male named Matt said something else before his footsteps came near the door. I back away and pretended to look through me purse for my key card. The handsome male closed the door and angrily paced the hallway as he pulled his phone out.
“Hey baby,” he said. “We have a little problem. She isn’t waiting for me with open arms like we expected.” I stopped tried to look as inconspicuous as possible. “Don’t worry, I’ll find Reyna. The plan is still on I am still going to marry her, get her money, and then get a divorce so we can be together but I wanted to let you know it might take some time.” The man listened to the other end before replying, “Love you too. Bye.”
I smiled evilly; things had just turned in my favor.
“Excuse me,” I said walking towards the startled man.
“Do I know you?” he asked confused.
“We have a mutual goal.”
“I don’t think so lady,” he shook his head. He truly was a breathtaking man but there was a sly cunning in his eyes that spoke of a darker side.
“But we do. You want Reyna and I want Lukas,” I said.
“Lukas, you know him?” He had just become hooked to the conversation.
“Listen here, Matt isn’t it? I don’t give a shit what you really want with this Reyna chic as long as she is gone so I think we should work together on this.”
“You’ll really get Reyna back for me?”
I flashed him a smile, “With the two of us together it will be as easy as pie as you Americans say. Just give me today and tomorrow and I’ll have a plan.”
Matt returned the smile I gave him, greed in his eyes. “Deal.”
Oh yes, Lukas would be mine in no time.
*Lukas POV*
Practice was light that day with the coach only making us do conditioning before letting us take our showers.
“I was expecting a lot more today,” I commented to the guys as we walked into the dressing room.
“Why are you complaining about a good thing,” Luca asked skipping around like a weirdo.
“I am not complaining only pointing it out,” I responded trying not to laugh at Luca’s antics and encourage him.
“It didn’t sound like—.”
“It’s because of the charity fund tonight,” Franck interrupted.
“Hey I was saying something little Frenchman,” Luca said in fake outrage.
“Oh crap,” I replied pulling my shirt off and ignoring the mini fight between Luca and Franck. With the events of that morning having taken over the majority of my brain I had completely forgotten about it. Every year there was a huge charity event hosted at the fanciest hotel in Munich where all the footballers and their significant others came. There was food and you dressed up in your finest with all the proceedings going to a children’s foundations. I had gotten tickets weeks ago but han’t told Reyna about it.
“Don’t tell me you forgot to tell Reyna,” Bastian said from next to me.
“You are in trouble,” Miroslav butted into the conversation. “Women need at least a week to shop for a dress.”
“Gwendolyn needs a month,” Willy added. “No way Reyna can do it in less than a day.”
“Yeah, you have the dress which alone is a pain. It’s too small or not the right color. Then the awful question ‘does it make me look fat?’” Lucio shivered in horror.
“Then the shoes have to match and if it isn’t the right shade panic ensues,” continued Tim.
“And to finish it off you need a million accessories,” Franck threw his hands in the air in loss. “Women.”
“Their shopping habits will always be a mystery to the male population,” Willy finished.
I quickly took a shower and hurried Bastian along since he took forever. Bastian and I had an interview downtown so I would just stop by Reyna’s job and tell her about the dinner in person.
That was if Bastian hurried his ass up.
*Reyna POV*
It was exhilarating to drive in Lukas’s car. Since our date I wasn’t scared to drive in Germany anymore and wasn’t getting honked, it was a wonderful change. I pulled into the back of the hotel and parked. Getting out I had a strange sensation which rose the hairs on the back of my neck and I felt like someone was watching me. I brushed the feeling aside and entered the hotel. I made my way through what use to be the storage area of the hotel to where we had transformed it into a workplace for the film. Today they were going to be shooting in one of the rooms on the top floor but makeup and dressing was being done down here.
I couldn’t help wondering if my family was staying at this hotel but then thought better of it. My mother would have wanted to go straight home. For the rest of the morning I busied myself with running around and making sure everything was in order. I made sure lunch for everyone was taken care of and ordered. I went upstairs to the filming room and help set up the lights before having to run downstairs to help with a wardrobe malfunction when the actor’s pants ended up being too short. I was in the middle of helping to make some of the props when one of the screenwriters approached me.
“Hey Reyna, could you take a look at this?” Kim asked. “Jack just didn’t like the flow of this last bit on scene five and wanted you to look over it.”
“Sure thing,” I put aside the clock I had been painting and took the sheets she handed me. I skimmed the lines and came up with a few different things to add and take away before handing her back the pieces of paper. “There you go.”
Kim glanced down at my ideas and nodded, “Brilliant. Jack should just hire you as a screenwriter you are amazing.”
That was the second time someone had said something like that. I said lamely, “Thanks.”
“No…who is that hunk? I haven’t seen him around,” Kim’s eyes went round in appreciation for someone behind me. I turned my head to find Lukas strolling towards me like he belonged here.
“Hello,” he grinned kissing my cheek.
“How did you get in here?” I asked in shock. I also noticed that all the women in the room were checking Lukas out. He’s all mine, I thought wickedly remembering that morning.
“My powers of persuasion are amazing,” he winked.
“Now who’s the tease?” I said under my breath and saw him smile.
“Can I talk to you for a minute?” I nodded and followed him to a corner in the room where no one could hear us.
“What’s up?” I asked looking up into Lukas’s stunning blue eyes.
“I forgot to tell you that tonight we have a dinner to go to,” Lukas said. “It’s a fancy thing and I’m sorry about not telling you but I got…distracted.” He gave me a meaningful look and I couldn’t help the red that colored face. “I hate to leave you to go shopping on your own but I have an interview in ten minutes.” He handed me a credit card. “Buy whatever you want and I don’t care about the price.” I took hold of the card but he didn’t let go and made me meet his eyes. “You are not to spend less than a thousand dollars is that understood.”
“Lukas,” I protested.
“No, I don’t want to hear it. You cut away in those magazines to get coupons and look for sales to spend money and it is driving me crazy. Splurge,” Lukas narrowed his eyes. “Got it?”
“Yes captain,” I said sarcastically giving him a salute. The side of his mouth twitched in amusement as he let go of the card.
“Here is a good store to look for dresses. The guys say that all their women go there.” He handed me a piece of paper with an address.
“REYNA!” came a scream from the other end of the room. My head jerked away from Lukas to find Jack practically running towards me. “I NEED you! NOW!” When he came to a stop next to me he tipped his hat back and pointed to Lukas. “Who is this? I thought I was the only man in your life.”
I laughed, “This is my husband, Lukas.”
Lukas held his hand out, “Pleasure to meet you sir.”
“Sir! Do I look old to you? Wait, the wrinkles are back aren’t they,” Jack frantically touched his face.
Lukas looked about ready to laugh in the face of my boss because of his strange nature so before I lost my job I said, “Lukas you are going to be late.”
“Right,” Lukas grinned as Jack ran around looking for a mirror to see if there were any wrinkles on his face. “No less than a thousand or else.”
He left and dirty minded me couldn’t help wondering what Lukas would have planned if I defied him.
“REYNA! I STILL NEED YOU,” Jack yelled at the top of his voice.
“Coming,” I responded distractedly.
***************
Two hours later I walked into the store that Lukas had told me to go to with apprehension in my step. I had tried to call Sarah to come with me but she had been busy with work. Teresa too couldn’t come because she had a date with her Frenchman so it was just me. The dresses were all designer and cost more than I would be worth. I was afraid to touch any of them lest I get them dirty. There were hundreds of different dresses of every style, cut, and color. I had no idea where to start and felt sure I would be kicked out of the sophisticated shop in no time. I strolled to one corner of the store and picked up a yellow gown that didn’t look too bad.
“Oh no, that color just screams canary,” said a female voice from my left. I looked over to find a beautiful young woman with kind chocolate brown eyes and wavy brown hair. There was an exotic vibe to her and a tinge of an accent in her voice. It was then that I realized she had spoken in English.
“You think?” I asked also in English. It felt strange to hear it after getting use to German.
“Oh yes, I feel like at any moment it’s going to attack me,” she laughed pleasantly. “I’m Adriana by the way.”
“Reyna,” I responded. “You work here?”
“Me? Oh no,” she laughed. “I am here shopping but I write an advice column for a fashion magazine and I seem to not be able to stop giving advice. Sorry.”
“Don’t apologize, I really am in over my head here.” I admitted.
Adriana was only too happy to help, “Let me find Lily-Mae. She is amazing when it comes to picking out dresses.”
Adriana waved her hand in the air and got the attention of a blond that was across from us. She headed towards us and I got a clear view of her face. Lily-Mae was a stunning woman, her taller height making her stand out. Her blond hair was cut into a bob and she had blue eyes that where clearer than Lukas’s.
“Lily-Mae this is Reyna, Reyna this is Lily-Mae,” Adriana said.
“Hello,” I said.
Lily-Mae gave me a warm smile, “Your Lukas Podolski’s new wife right?”
“Oh my gosh how embarrassing!” Adriana gasped. “I would be fired from my job if they knew I hadn’t regognized a new fashion icon standing right in front of my face.”
“I am hardly a fashion icon,” I said modestly.
“That isn’t what the public is saying,” Lily-Mae put in.
“Isn’t it amazing that all of the footballer’s women are here?” Adriana said in excitement. She certainly had a bubblely and fun personality but I didn’t understand her statement. “Lily-Mae, me, and our other friend Jolie all have footballer lovers,” she clarified in a mock whisper.
“Lover is a stranger word to use Adriana,” Lily-Mae told her friend as she picked a dress and draped it across her arms.
“It’s true thought so what’s the difference. Lily-Mae here just married her lover so she is an honest woman,” Adriana winked as I giggled. “Meet Mrs. Van Persie in the flesh! Robin and her got hitched six months ago.”
“You are such a gossip,” Lily-Mae said with a smile.
“As for me, I live in sin with sin personified, Cristiano Ronaldo,” she smiled sadly. “My parents don’t approve because of my religious background but Kaka, my brother, is trying to convince them.”
“I know how that is,” I replied feeling a kinship with the woman before me.
She shrugged it off, “Love, can’t satisfy everyone when it happens.”
“At last you have a family,” Lily-Mae commented as she held up a gown against me and then put it back on the hanger. “Never mind,” she quickly said breaking eye contact like she had let something slip
“Lily-Mae is an orphan,” Adriana whispered to me.
“I heard you,” Lily-Mae said.
“Well, we all know I can’t whisper for shit,” Adriana grabbed a gown and handed it to me.
“I’m sorry,” I told Lily-Mae putting a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
“Being in the foster system is hell but Robin made up for it. He is my family,” she replied and got a look in her eyes that said that Robin was lucky to have such a devoted wife.
“Where is Yoann anyway?” Adriana said suddenly. “Yoann!”
“I am ufortunatley here,” came a French accent. A sexy brunet with captivating eyes that I couldn’t quite tell what color they were walked up to us and Lily-Mae dumped the clothing she had into his hands.
“You are suppose to be helping us,” Lily-Mae chided.
“You mean I am suppose to be your pack mule,” Yoann grumbled.
“Same difference, mon ami,” Adriana ragged.
“It’s not fair that the guys got the shoes and accessories while I am stuck with dresses,” Yoann mumbled.
“You know Robin had an add campaign and if Cristiano came near clothes I couldn’t get him to focus,” Adriana told the annoyed Yoann. When he went to complain again, Adriana rebuked him with firm words as Lily-Mae came to stand next to me.
“Our men hate shopping with us so they split the job three way. Yoann comes for dresses, Cristiano gets shoes, and Robin accessories,” Lily-Mae explained.
“Yoann, does this make me look fat?” a long haired blond appeared from the changing room. She was wearing a blue gown that matched her eyes and she was as gorgeous as the other women around me.
“Oui,” Yoann said and got a slap in the arms for his troubles.
“That’s a Frenchmen for you,” the new woman said. “You are suppose to lie cheri.”
“Won’t you rather I be honest Jolie?” protested Yoann.
“I woman never wants you to be honest when it comes to clothes,” Jolie replied folding her arms.
“Then it is the most beautiful gown in the world and I love it,” Yoann replied dumping the clothes he was carrying onto the nearest table and gathering Jolie up. He kissed her until she was laughing and out of breath before letting her go reluctantly and moving to put the dresses in the changing rooms. I looked at the display wishing Lukas was there.
“Jolie?” Lily-Mae passed her hand in front of her friend’s eyes because she was still staring lovingly at her man’s back. “Stop staring at his ass and come back to us.”
“I was not staring at his ass,” Jolie’s mouth dropped.
“If you say so,” Adriana said in a sing song voice.
“This is Reyna,” Lily-Mae introduced us. Like the other girls Jolie was immediately welcoming and started to give me advice on which dresses to get.
“Are you all going to this dinner event tonight then?” I asked moving along the rakes and hoping something would call to me.
“Yeah, we all flew here for it,” Jolie said. “What about this one?”
“The train is too long,” I decided after a closer look at the dress in her hand. “How do you all know each other?”
“Well Jolie and I are models so we meet during a photoshoot,” Lily-Mae replied as we headed to the dressing room to try on what we had found. “Adriana we picked up when she interviewed me for one of her articles.”
“Picked up? I am not luggage, you all know you wouldn’t have any fun without me,” Adriana argued. We found Yoann lounging in one of the chairs, texting and looking bored.
“Are we almost done?” he asked hopefully.
“Haven’t even stared yet,” his girlfriend replied giving him a patient smile. I walked into one of the changing rooms and pulled on one of the gowns I had found.
“You all speak English well?” I noted as I stripped.
“It’s the one language we all know,” came Lily-Mae’s voice. “I speak Dutch while Jolie was born in Germany but moved to France so she knows French and German which comes in handy here. Then Adriana is from Brazil but was shipped of to Spain so she knows Spanish and Portuguese. It’s easier to all speak English.”
“Again with the luggage analogy! I was not shipped,” Adriana responded.
“You were a party girl that needed to calm down, you were shipped Adriana,” Lily-Mae informed her friend.
“I prefer to think that fate brought me to Spain and Cristiano.”
I walked out of the dressing room and up to the mirrors, turning this way and that.
“That won’t do,” Jolie said coming out with a new dress on and spotting me.
“I think it’s nice,” I said truthfully. The green gown was beaded and had a bodice top that didn’t reveal too much.
“Nice is lame,” Lily-Mae interjected. “You want to be magnificent.”
“I think it looks fine,” Yoann said from his corner, hiding a yawn.
“Shh,” Jolie looked over at her boyfriend. “You are just saying that so we leave.”
“God, yes,” he replied honestly as Jolie turned back to face me so he wouldn’t see her smile.
“You need something that pops,” Lily-Mae tapped her finger on her lip. “I think I know the perfect thing.”
Lily-Mae hurried deep into the store while a commotion from Adriana’s dressing room made Jolie and I rush to her door.
“Are you alright?” I asked, worried.
A muffled voice replied, “I am stuck.”
“You would Adriana,” laughed Jolie as she pushed the door open and walked in to help her.
“Why did you get a size too small?” Jolie asked as we finally managed to push her head into the right hole.
“It is not a size too small, it’s perfect!” Adriana huffed in outraged dignity.
“Honey, you have curves and aren’t a stick,” Jolie reprimanded.
“Beauty is pain,” Adriana said as she glided past us to look at herself in the mirror.
“I think it’s too tight,” I remarked. “If you sit you’ll split it.”
Adriana scolded at her reflection, “Maybe you are right.”
Lily-Mae appeared then and smiled, “Found it—.”
“Oh my gosh!” Adriana gasped in astonishment. “I think I see it!”
“What?” Jolie froze as she became the center of attention.
“Your baby bump!” Adriana shouted in glee.
“WHAT?!” this didn’t come from Jolie but Yoann, who jumped to his feet.
“I am not pregnant!” Jolie denied. Yoann quickly moved to her side and put a hand around her shoulder as he closely looked at her stomach. “Yoann stop, I’m not having a child!”
“I think I see it though.” Yoann poked her middle, not noticing a doubled over Adriana. Jolie shooed his hand away.
“If I was pregnant you shouldn’t poke it Yoann,” Joile rolled her eyes.
“Sorry,” Yoann looked at her sheepishly.
“That was genius! At least Yoann is awake now and that was for saying I gained weight Jolie,” Adriana joked.
“You are evil! Wait Yoann.” When he stopped to look back at his girlfriend she poked him hard back in the stomach. “That was for saying I was fat again.”
“I’d love you even if you were,” Yoann said placing a hand over his heart. Jolie gave him a look of doubt until he lifted her bridal style into his arms as she squealed and carried her into her dressing room for a few minutes of alone time.
“Keep it PG we are in public!” Adriana reminded them.
“So back to what I was saying,” Lily-Mae held the gown she had found out to me.
“Oh no,” I said when I glanced at it. “I could never wear something like this.”
“Trust me, you can pull it off,” Lily-Mae reassured me. “And if it doesn’t get Lukas to have the most passionate sex you’ve ever had then I’ll jump off a bridge.”
Well…I was sold.
*********
“We are going to be the hottest women at the event!” Adriana declared two hours later when we walked out of the dress shop. Lily-Mae had worked her magic on all the girls and found us all dresses. Adriana’s was a tight fitted black dress that flowed down at knee level while Jolie would look like a goddess in a golden, one strap gown that had an intricate design on one side and a long leg gap. Lily-Mae had gotten herself a pink dress that moved with every step she took and fit her personality well.
“Since my work here is done I am going to go hang with the guys,” Yoann looked ecstatic to be out of the women’s world of shopping and was ready to get back to man world. “I’ll see you all tonight,” he gave Jolie a kiss. “Nice meeting you Reyna.”
“You as well,” I waved as he jogged to his car.
“On to phase two,” Lily-Mae wrapped an arm around mine and pulled me along the sidewalk.
“Shoes!” responded Jolie cheerfully. We walked a block until we came to a shoe store where a very stylish man stood leaning against the wall. Adriana gave a little shout of joy and rushed towards the man. The tall man seemed to expect it because he easily caught her around the waist as she wrapped her legs and arms around him.
“Did you miss me?” Adriana smiled down at him.
“Always,” he responded as they kissed passionately.
“Hey this is a public place! Tongue is not PG!” Jolie told the couple as she walked past them.
“Nice to see you Jolie and Lily-Mae,” the man, who was tan and broad shouldered, I knew without a doubt was the sex symbol Cristiano Ronaldo.
“This is Reyna, Lukas Podolski’s wife.” Adriana caught the curious look Cristiano had shot my way.
“Nice to meet you,” I said shyly.
“Likewise,” his deep voice rumbled as he flashed me a smile that would have melted me on the spot if I wasn’t head over heels in love with Lukas.
We entered the store and were instantly jumped upon by a dozen workers that wanted to help us. Two women were taking care of me while I was trying not to freak out at all the attention.
“What do you think of these?” Jolie asked pushing the crowd of venders away from me and holding up a pair of golden laced boots.
“With your dress?” I skeptically raised my brow.
“It’s the new thing Reyna.” I nodded then, trusting that the model knew what she was talking about.
“Your ring is beautiful,” I said to her, catching a glimpse of silver on her finger.
The shoes were quickly forgotten as she looked down fondly at her ring, “Yoann has one just like it. It’s a promise ring that he gave me when we started dating at sixteen.”
“Wow, you must love each other very much to have made it so long,” I replied impressed and wishing that that would happen to Lukas and me.
“I keep telling her she is being jilted and should get him to purpose,” Adriana said strolling nearby.
“We are waiting,” Jolie objected.
“If you wait much longer you are going to be old and gray.” Lily-Mae held out a pair of obscenely high heels and put an end to our conversation.
“I am not wearing those!” I held my hands in the air to keep her back.
“Reyna these would go amazingly with your dress.”
“Well I won’t look so amazing when I trip and land face first on the ground!”
“You are trying them even if I have to physically put them on,” Lily-Mae said stubbornly and I resigned myself to being molded by her.
I was sitting on the chairs and had pulled one of the killer shoes on when Cristiano reappeared.
“Do you think these are nice babe?” he asked Adriana showing off the sleek black shoes he was wearing.
“Cristiano! We are shopping for me not you!” Adriana threw her hands in the air in exasperation. “I really can’t take you anywhere without you wanting to buy something to make you look hot.”
Cristiano said something to her in Portuguese and then went to seize her as Adriana gasped and laughed as they ran around the store before Cristiano grabbed her around the middle and held her to his chest.
“Say you are sorry,” Cristiano said.
“No.” Adriana giggled when he kissed her neck and tortured an apology out of her. He let her go but not without slapping her on the butt as she walked away. That made me think of Lukas and all the butt grabbing we use to do. I missed him so much surrounded by all this love in the air and wished his interview had been another day so he could have come with me.
“Told you they were the ones,” Lily-Mae grinned triumphantly at the shoes on my feet as I snapped back to reality.
I looked down and had to agree with her, plus I found that they weren’t that hard to walk on so I bought them. The rest of my time at the shoes store was spent helping the rest of the girls find heels and laughing with Jolie and Lily-Mae as we watched Adriana try to restrain Cristiano from buying the whole store. We were done in less than an hour and make our way two doors down to the accessory shop. Lily-Mae told us Robin was already inside and Adriana said goodbye to Cristiano, not allowing him to put one foot inside.
A man with short cropped dark hair approached us and kissed Lily-Mae tenderly on the lips, “Hello.”
“Hey,” Lily-Mae answered with sparkling eyes. Robin was a good looking man with a boyish quality about him. We were introduced and I found him to be really sweet and kind. It was also obvious from the side looks he keeps giving Lily-Mae that he was deeply in love with his wife.
In this store I knew what I wanted, jewelry was something that I could find easily. I decided on just a pair of earrings and then went to assist the three girls since they were the ones lost this time. Lily-Mae and Robin held hands as they walked around the store, a much more reserved couple but their love for each other was like lightning between them. They stopped in front of a table with evening purses and Robin moved to stand behind Lily-Mae with his chin on her shoulder and arms wrapped possessively around her. I glanced away and couldn’t stand it anymore. I looked down at my watch and saw that it was already about four thirty.
Lukas would be home.
I excused myself from my new friends and Robin telling them that I had to get back home and start getting ready. We exchanged numbers and chatted for a few minutes longer about keeping in touch and seeing each other at the dinner before I left. I practically ran to the car in my need to see Lukas.
