I Woke up Next to Lukas Podolski and Holy Crap We're Married

Greek God and Lioness

*Reyna POV*
I woke to the sound of my phone vibrating on the little table beside the bed. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I look over at the clock that read six thirty, about an hour before I had to be at the hotel. I crawl out of the warm covers and stretching, make my way to the bathroom. After taking a ten minute shower, I dry my hair and apply my neural-colored eyes shadow and some lip gloss to bring out my natural red lips. Going back into the room I rummage through my already messy dresser and decide to wear a hot pink top and tight navy blue pants. I move next to the bed and take my cell phone, dropping it into my purse and then gathering my pink heels from the floor. As I descend the stairs, I move my watch forward to the correct time since it was still on U.S. time. I enter the kitchen and open the fridge. “Guten Morgan,” said a voice from my side. I look and see a shirtless Lukas taking out the bread. He looked like a walking Greek God statue; powerful, confident, and stunning. I remind myself to breath when he comes behind me and reaches under my arm for the butter and jam. Turning he says, “Can you bring the orange juice?” I make my arm move and quickly walk to the table. Sitting and not meeting his gaze or body, I hand him the juice and busily cut my bread. “How did you sleep?” he asked cheerfully. “I slept fine,” I tell him looking up. “I forgot to give you your jacket back last night.” He shrugged and took a big bit of his food, “I’ll get it later.” We continued to eat in silence, then I reached over for more jam at the same time as Lukas.

As our hands touched, I felt a jolt of electricity shot up my arm and into my heart. I quickly withdrew my hands and saw Lukas do the same. Awkwardly, he pushed the jar towards me and stood, “I’m ready to go when you are.” “You don’t have to drive me, I can take a cab,” I told him finishing the last of my breakfast and started to clear the table. Making sure not to touch my hand he took the plate from me, “Don’t worry about it.” He turned putting the dishes in the washer. “But your not even dressed,” I blurted out and instantly my eyes went to his pecks. You have a very dirty mind, I chided myself. Smiling he wiped his wet hands and reached behind me. His body was pressed against mine so that I could feel his strong heart beat, and his hypnotic blue eyes held mine. Despite my better judgment my head moved on its own accord towards his lips, and then he was gone. He slipped on the shirt he had taken from his bag on the counter behind me, “There.” I try to regain my control and balance as gracefully as possible. Mad at myself for falling for his charms, I grab his bag and roughly toss it to him, “Let’s go then.” He smirked as I strut angrily past him, “Doch du bist etch herzig wann erbost.” [Translation: You know you’re really cute when angry. ]

“Stop speaking in German, I don’t understand a word!” I snap, only succeeding in making his smirk bigger. That’s it, I think I need to learn German. I move to the doorway but he gets there faster and steps in front, blocking my escape. “Why are you angry, Liebling?” he asks putting a hand on the doorframe and reached out to caress my check with the other while capturing my eyes in his blue whirlpool.
Fine, I think mischievously. Two can play that game.

I look down at Reyna and see a twinkle in her eye. Oh no, I think, I’m in trouble. No sooner had that crossed my mind when I felt her hand on waist and she moved closer. Her eyes had the look of a lioness; hungry and commanding. I could not move as her strawberry scent enveloped me into a cocoon. “It’s my leg,” she said in a voice like velvet. “And what is wr--” I groaned despite myself as her leg wrapped around mine and she moved it seductively upward. By now my focus was solely on the violet-eyed woman in front of me, so I didn’t have any warning when Bastian popped out of no where. “Schiet, lassen sie sich nicht abhalten!” he said when he spotted us, quickly covered his eyes. [Translation: Shit, don’t let me disturb you!] Reyna quickly moved away from me, her face bright red. “It’s okay Bastian, you can look,” I tell him in German and then switching to English said, “What are you doing here?” “Obviously interrupting something very important,” he said under his breath before saying louder. “Sarah was worried that Reyna wouldn’t have a ride since you only have one car.” I slung my sports bag over my shoulder, having dropt it when my mind had been fixed on Reyna and her leg, “It’s fine. I’m taking her.” We all stepped out into the cool morning air and we walked to the two cars. Bastian hopped into his and then rolled down the window, “I’ll see you at practice.”

I sat in my chair bored to death, Teresa was next to me painting her nails with some whiteout. Jack had a ritual of always starting of the day with a pep talk--which always lasted forty minutes-- as the employees tried not to fall asleep. My mind wonder off to the car ride here, it had been silent but strangely not uncomfortable. I was still shocked at my behavior in the kitchen. Never in my life had I done something like that! Or instigate a kiss! Or gotten drunk and married! Yet somehow they all happened and Lukas was always there. His spirit seem to be rubbing off on me and I loved it. Never had I been able to let lose like that, except with John and Teresa. I twirled my wedding ring and looked down at Lukas’ family ring. What would it be like to truly be his wife?

Shaking my head at my stupid thoughts I tried to focus on what Jack was saying, “… and that my friends is how the mailman and the snail worked together, just as we must.” Jack gave an overly dramatically sigh and sat down, finally over. Everyone began to stand ready to get to work when Jack stood suddenly, “Butterflies, quiet my little butterflies! I have an announcement. I would like everyone to help me congratulate Reyna on her marriage and wish her a happy life.” Stunned I sat there as surprised colleagues looked at me. They all expressed there good wills as I sat there embarrassed. “I so glad you settle down deary,” said old Fanny, a costume designer. “And I’m especially happy that it’s not with Matt, he wasn’t right for you.” My eyes widened as she moved past me and Jack came forward, “You should have told me yesterday when you snatched my newspaper! I had to find out this morning!” He than laid the morning newspaper down in front of me. It was a picture of me and Lukas’ kissing. Embarrassed I said, “Do you know what it says?” “Hell no! me and languages don’t mix but you can keep the paper my wedding present to you,” Jack grinned dumbly and shooed everyone to work.

“So what the hell was that this morning?” said Bastian as we ran around the pitch. I sighed, not wanting to talk about my marriage or Reyna. Every time I thought of either my heart would start beating faster. I had gotten enough slack for the rest of the team when I had arrived late. “His wife already has him in her pocket,” Willy had whispered loudly. They all laughed and made a few more crude remarks. Then Klinsmann had walk onto the field and had them all run two miles. “Nothing,” I said defensively. “It didn’t look like nothing from where I was standing,” he said as we passed the goal. “Forget about it,” I told him and ran a little faster. “Lukas, you can’t get attached,” Bastain said. “I’m not attached,” I said as the whistle sounded and we began passing drills. “Please, I saw the way you were looking at each other and Sarah agrees with me,” Bastian passed the ball and we ran a few feet. I didn’t reply, indicating that this discussion was closed.

We spent the rest of the morning dribbling and shooting, then had a thirty minute break to eat. After lunch, we went to the gym room until two. Finally, the coaches told as to jump in the showers. After a cold shower I tied a towel around my lower half and went to my locker. Every inch of it was covered in my wedding picture and the one of me and Reyna’s kiss last night; if that wasn’t the worst they had spray painted my clothes white with the words ‘whipped’ in bold black letters across my shirt. I ran my hand through my hair and looked at my teammates with a pissed but amused look on my face. “I truly hate every single one of you,” I tell them as they all burst out laughing. I spent the next few minutes chasing and hitting anyone within my grasp before one of the coaches put a stop to it. I went back to my locker and pull out a pair of sports pants that had been spared from my bag. Unfortunately, I didn’t have an extra shirt and there was no way in hell that I was wearing the ‘whipped’ shirt outside, so I gathered my things and left the locker room without one.

Having been let out early again as a wedding present of sorts, I wondered the streets of Munich taking in the sights. I knew Lukas wouldn’t be done with practice for a while so I had walked around, ate lunch at a wonderful traditional restaurant, and had found a book and tape that would teach me German. I vowed that no more would Lukas talk to his friends without me having an idea of what was going on.
I had stopped in front of a shoes store to look at the boots displayed in the window when I noticed three men snapping pictures a few feet from me. Thinking that they wouldn’t be taking pictures of me without Lukas nearby, I continued down the street. I turned once and saw that they was still following me and that three more men had joined. Not knowing what else to do I went into the nearest store. The bell rang as I pushed the door and entered a small yet cozy bookstore. As I walked inI saw that although it was a beautiful little shop with many couches and books, there was no one there. As I approached the fireplaceI saw that a woman and a man, who most likely worked here, on a sofa sound asleep. I tried not to laugh as a creped near them and gentle poked the woman on the shoulder. She stirred and her eyes flickered open. “What the hell did you wake me for?” she said angrily as she hit the man on the shoulder. He fell to the floor, “What…what are you talking about?” He slowly sat up and rubbed his eyes which went as round as saucers when they spotted me. “What to you mean…shh…for wa-- I said be quiet! You poked me on the shoulder while-- Denis stop interrupting--I was having my Lukas Podolski dream!” she yelled at him as he tried to make my presence known. Taking pity, I cleared my throat. The woman turned quickly and jumped off the couch, “I’m so sorry…oh, umm…es tut mir wirklich leid.” I smiled warmly, “I’m American.” The man named Denis stood next to the woman and said, “We’re very sorry for our display, normally we don’t have any customers and you caught us off guard.” “No problem. It’s a pity you don’t have customers, this is a lovely shop,” I tell them as I move to one of the shelves and picked up a book. “How come you speak English?” I asked curiously. “Were from England but moved here a year ago,” said Denis. “My sister, Julia and I love Germany and wanted to live here.” “From what I’ve seen so do I,” I said but realized my mistake and added, “And now I will.” They looked up at me and getting a bit uncomfortable held up the book I was carrying, “I’ll take this one.”
The sibling practically ran over each other as they went to the register. They were ringing up my book when I noticed a framed picture of Lukas on the counter, “You like him?” Julia blushed and said, “He is just the most handsome man you will every meet and he is so kind!” “You’ve met him?” “Well no, not technically… but I will someday when he gets a divorce with that American, no offence,” she said with a faraway look. For some reason her words tore a little of my heart, knowing that would she said was true, I would be divorcing him in a few months. “Pay no attention to my sister, she’s drunk,” said Denis quickly as he handed me my book. Just then my phone rang, “Hello?” “Hallo! Wie geths deine tag gehend?” said a sexy voice from the other end. [Translation: Hello! How is your day going?] “English please,” I said annoyed and amused at the same time. “I’m going to take that as a not great. Where should I come get you?” He asked and I could just tell that he had a huge grin on his face. “I’m a few blocks from the hotel. You can’t miss it, a whole bunch of paparazzi are outside,” I told him and saw Denis and Julia’s eyes go wide and them stare at me. “Schei, did they bother you?” he said in a serious tone. “No I’m fine,” I reassured him, smiling that he was worried about me. “Okay I’m outside,” he said. “How did you get her so fast?” I ask as I peek out the windows and see his black car outside. “It’s my crazy German driving, now get out here,” he complained as he hung up the phone. I snapped mine shut, “Thanks’ for the book maybe I’ll stop by again tomorrow.” I smile and then head for the door as I leave I hear Denis say, “Do you think it’s her?” “Can’t be…can it?”

I quickly get into the car and slam the door before the paparazzi invade the car, “Go fast!” “Finally,” Lukas said as I put my seat belt on and we speed away for the bookstore and onto the highway. Turning, my mouth dropped open. Snapping it shut and trying not to drool or stare at his perfectly shaped upper body I ask, “Where is your shirt?” “It’s a long story. Do you mind?” he asked looking over at me. “No,” I blurt out. “I mean...whatever.” I spent the rest of the ride trying not to glance at Lukas and was relived when we arrived home.

We ate diner in front of the TV and watched a German movie. Although I couldn’t understand a word, I cried at the end when the man died in his beloveds’ arms. “How can you be crying when you don’t understand what’s going on?” Lukas asked at the end. He was sitting next to me so I kicked him, “Because true love transcends languages!” He laughed and cleared the dished asI went upstairs to change and call my brother. The phone rang and my heart began to pound, how the hell was I going to explain this? Hey John, so guess what I married Lukas Podolski your favorite soccer player and he is going to be your brother-in-law for a few months because its not a real marriage?! Wow, that sounds lame! “Hello,” said John. “Hey John, it’s Reyna.” “Well it’s about time you called!” “Sorry I had stuff to take care of,” I said as I laid down on the bed and hugged a pillow imagining it was Lukas. NO,NO not Lukas, just hugging a pillow. I listen as I was caught up on the latest soccer matches and gossip from my brother, “So when are you going to tell me you got married?”
I shot upwards and lost hold ofthe phone. Picking it off the floor I say, “Who told you?” “I’m 17! I know everything, besides I live on the computer and I googled Lukas and got a whole bunch of pictures of you two kissing and stuff.” “Oh my god! Do Mom and Dad know?” “Hell no! I’m not stupid, you’re the one that’s telling them not me. So what happened?” I spent the next hour telling him everything, the phone call from Matt, the drunk marriage, the deal, and ended with the party last night. “Damn! So you don’t like him? It’s all pretend?” he asked. “Um, you shouldn’t be asking these sorts of questions you’re too young,” I said trying to end the subject. “My god you--Yes Nanny, I’m getting off. Reyna I got to go,” he said angrily. “Where is Mom and Dad?” “Another of their stupid dinners, I’ll talk to you soon, love you.” “Love you too,” I tell my little brother aswe hang up. Tired, I lay out my pajamas and strip down to my pink lace bra and matching underwear. I am reaching for my pajamas right when the door opens.

*Lukas POV*

“I’m just here for--” I freeze when I catch sight of Reyna. She was wearing a bar and underwear and nothing else. I couldn’t move as my gaze swipe down her body remembering our marriage night. I remember her lean arms around my neck and her elegant legs tangled with mine. Her stomach was flat and her chest was heaving , her bra showing me a tantalizing view of--. Quickly I turn around as much to save her from embarrassment as to control myself and not carry her to the bed then and there. “I’m so sorry. I just came for my jacket.” I hear somenoise behind me and then my jacket hits me in the back. I pick it up and leave Reyna’s room, wishing her a good night because I sure new I wouldn’t have one.
