The Monster and the Fox Riders

You played for around an hour. You go and hop on Todd.

“Lunch time,” you say.

“Lunch time! Josh, we're leaving,” Todd says.

“Have fun,” he replies.

“What we having for lunch?” you ask Todd.

“I don't know.”

“I made breakfast.”

“So it's fair I do lunch?”

“Yep.”

“...Pizza?”

“Sounds good to me. I'll go clean up.”

You go inside Deggan's house to take a quick shower before changing into your clothes again. You go outside and smile seeing Bilko put your bike away.

“Thanks,” you say.

“No problem. I'll see you around?” he asks.

“You not staying with me and Todd?”

“No, I've gotta go do something.”

“Oh. Okay, guess I'll see you around.”

“Bye Sheila.”

You drive home, quickly going inside.

“Jacko?!” You yell from the kitchen.

“Yes Sheila?”

“I'll be at Todd's, you got it?”

“Kay, bye”

You go out again and walk to Todd's, sitting on the couch inside. Sasha, his dog, comes and jumps onto the couch.

“Sasha is here to see me,” you call out.

“Yeah, I had to let her out,” Todd says.

“You are such a cute puppy yes you are,” you say, petting her. You look up at Todd.

“What?”

“I hate it when you're right,” you say.

“What am I right about?”

“I like Bilko,” you admit. “Why do I like Bilko?”

“I don't know, I'm not a girl.”

“True. I need to call Cruse, she's better than you.”

“Cruse? As in, Sherri, the chick Travis is going out with?”

“Yeah idiot, we grew up together,” you reply, dialling up Sherri Cruse.

“Go away, she's busy,” a guy answers.

“Who the fuck do you think you are?” you ask.

“Travis, I can talk to Blair,” Sherri says in the background.

“Blair, how are you friends with her?”

“Travis, give me my phone,” Sherri demands. “It won't even be about the races, will it Blair?”

“Nope,” you reply. “Boy trouble. And no-one in Cali can help me because they're boys.”

“See, Travis?” she replies loudly. “We leave work out of our friendship.”

“Since she can't,” Potter interrupts.

“Potter shut up, go get the pizza order,” you say, cutting him off.

“Fine,” he replies. “Typical order?”

“Yep, sounds good.”

“Sure thing.”

You sigh before going back to the phone conversation.

“Ready, Blair?” Sherri asks.

“Ready. What about you?”

“Ready. So, the boy is?”

“Bilko Williams.”

“You like the over-hyper Australian dude? I mean, sure, he's cute, but how can you stand him?”

“I don't know. How can you stand Travis all the time? He seems like a dick.”

“He's better when he isn't in training mode like he is right now, with season about the start.”

“If you say so....anyway. See, the problem is we're both signed to Fox and Monster, and he is close friends with Potter.”

“I say stay away from him, you're good at avoiding people. You've got to get your head on for the season and with everything you have now, you don't need a boy to fuck with it.”

“That is true. Thanks Sherrie.”

“No problem. Why don't you mess with Potter? You guys are super close, right?”

“Yeah, we're close. But he's like my brother, that's why I don't mess with him.”

“Maybe Bilko can be the same?”

“No, I can never see him like that.”

“Sucks to be you,” she says.

“Thanks,” you reply sarcastically.

“No problem. So, you need help with anything else?”

“...So I just forget about him?”

“For now. I know it'll be hard, but you can't get stressed right now.”

“That's true. Thanks,” you finish.

“Bye.”

You hang up and sigh a couple of times while looking at your phone. Todd came in and sits down, handing you a Monster.

“What'd she say?”

“To forget about him and that I got to focus on the season.”

“That is true. You seem sad at that.”

“I am. I don't know why,” you reply.

“You really like him. That's why,” he reasons.

“Guess so.”

Todd smiles as Sasha goes up to him, licking his face. You guys play with her until the pizza comes.
