One Hundred Percent Off All Items! (Jessie)

We approached the glass doors outside of one of the stores and tried to open them. They were still locked from whenever this place had last closed. Kwame tried his hardest to kick the glass through one of the doors.

"You do know that shit is shatter proof and that's never going to work right?" Jack informed him. Kwame just snickered at him, and backed away from the door.

"So how do we get in here? Anybody have any plans?" I asked.

"Well, in Dawn of the Dead, they found a security door and shot the lock off of it," Lucas said.

"I don't think that's a good idea man," Bob said. "If we do that, we'll seriously be living the movie and be trapped in here when the whole town comes looking for the gunshot."

"I take it you guys figured out the whole noise thing too?" Jack asked.

"Yea, we figured that shit out a long time ago," Roxy answered.

"Well, maybe we can find one that isn't unlocked," Dr.Grant said. "Maybe some negligent employee left one of them open or something. Or there might be a security door they leave open all night. Might as well try right?"

We started walking from door to door, looking for one that was unlocked. It wasn't looking like we would have any luck. Every door we tried it was the same story, all of them were locked. Finally we came to a back entrance that looked like it was used for shipping purposes. Carter turned the knob and pulled, and like a miracle it opened.

"Somebody up there loves us," Bob said. "I swear he always leaves me a door open. I've never been a religious man, but the longer I'm alive in this apocalypse, the more I realize, there's somebody up there watching my back."

"It could just be an extreme coincidence," Aiden said.

"Are you some sort of atheist or something?" Bob asked.

"I'm just saying. I've never been one to believe in fate," answered Aiden.

"Well, I'm just glad we found an open door, now can we please just go in?" I said. We walked inside, and closed the door behind us. It was so dark that I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. They must have left the lights off before they closed this place down.

"This is kind of weird actually," Brock said. "Don't they leave everything on like a timer or something like that?"

"Yea they do, but I'm guessing since we're in the shipping area, the timers don't really work for right here," Jack explained.

"That makes sense I guess. Let's just find a fucking light already," Roxy said. We all started searching the walls for a light. It took a good ten minutes of searching around the room, but finally Lucas found them.

"And God said, let there be light!" he shouted, as he turned them on.
"Still on the God thing?" Aiden asked.

"Just thought it fit the occasion," Lucas replied.

We made our way to the next door, which led to the back of a toy store. The chains on the front of the store were still down. We approached them and started looking for a way to get ourselves out.

"Do you think there's a key laying around somewhere back here?" Dean asked.

"Well, if not, I say we just shoot the lock," Jack said.

"Nah mothahfuckah! Won't we get swarmed by mothahfuckin' zombies and shit?" Kwame asked.

"I don't think there are any in here to be honest. Even if there are, it might be nice to lure them all here right away. Then we can decide if this place is even safe to begin with," Jack explained. "I don't think the shot will be loud enough to be heard outside, so we don't have to worry about that if anybody's wondering."

"Fuck it then, let's do it!" Kwame replied. Roxy handed Jack her shotgun and we all took about ten steps back. Jack aimed it at the lock and pull the trigger, and the blast blew the lock clean off. Carter went to open the gate up, but Jack stopped him before he could.

"Wait, leave it closed, lets just wait and see if anything decides to come out," he said. We waited about five minutes and there were no signs of anything approaching. It seemed like Jack was right, the whole place must have been empty.

"Alright, the coast seems clear guys, let's shop," Jack said.

"Yay!" I exclaimed.

"Whoa! I think we still need a plan here," Dr.Grant said. "We need to meet back here at some point, and I'm still not convinced nothing is here, so let's at least pair up. Nobody goes alone."

"That sounds reasonable doctor, so, let's team up," Brock said. "Let's see there's sixteen of us, plus a dog. I say we split into maybe four or five groups, and go from there."

"Well, I'm going, and whoever wants to come with me can," I proclaimed.

"I'll go with you Jessie," Dalton said. "I mean, if that's okay with you?" I wanted to scream with joy when those words left his mouth.

"Of course you can!" I exclaimed.

"Is it alright if I go with you too?" Dean asked.

"I guess," I snapped. "Anyone else coming with me? Last chance."

"Mind if I come along love?" Carter politely asked.

"Sure Carter you're more than welcome," I told him.

"Why is he more than welcome, and you just guess I can come?" Dean questioned.

"Because I'm me Dean, that's why," I answered.

After that everyone formed three more groups, Bob, Layla, Trevor and Lucas were in one group. Roxy, Brock, Jack and Dr.Grant were in another, and Kwame, Riley, Gabe and Raven made up the last group. Aiden and Celeste went off on their own, which nobody seemed to argue with.

"Now, we meet back here in about two or three hours," Dr.Grant said.

"I say we just stay the night in this place. It seems safe enough to me. We can just leave in the morning," Bob replied.

"I like Bob's plan! Lets just do that!" I shouted with joy. Dr. Grant just sighed and nodded. I don't think he liked the idea of staying here for an entire night, but I loved it. I'd have plenty of time to shop now. After the plan was set, we all went in four separate directions and started to make our way around the mall.

"I'm going to every clothing store here, except the preppy ones, and then I'm going to the music store and getting some music that is actually good," I told everyone.

"Well Jessie, I think we're all following you, so just lead the way," Dalton said.

We walked from store to store, and picked clean what we wanted. I gave my gun to Dalton, so he could shoot locks off. The first store we went to, I had to learn how to take security tags off. I grabbed two big shopping bags and just started filling them with clothes. Occasionally, I would find Dalton in the store and ask him what he thought of something I picked out.

"Why are you asking me?" he questioned.

"Well, I need a guy's opinion," I said, lying to him. If all I wanted was a guy's opinion, I'd just ask Dean, but I wanted his opinion. After all, it was him I was out to impress now. I thought about maybe taking him underwear shopping with me. My now zombified friend I used to call all of the time always told me it was the best way to make a guy go crazy. Then again, I didn't want to come on too strong. He might think I was some kind of slut or something. Definitely not the impression I was trying to give.

When the first two shopping bags were full, I handed them to Dean and made him carry them, then I grabbed two more and started to fill them up. We had only been to maybe half of the stores in the mall so far.

"I want to find myself a nice weapon," Dalton said. "I think this would be the perfect place to get one."

"I already found my perfect weapon," I said, showing him my skateboard.

"That's a nice skateboard, Bam Margera one?" Dalton asked.

"Yes! It is and I love it!" I exclaimed.

"I'm not sure what to get myself," he explained. "You got any suggestions?"

"I think you should get a lightsaber," I told him.

"A lightsaber? That would be pretty great if they actually existed," he replied. "All they have is the toy ones."

"You should use one of those then," I told him as I laughed. "You might not kill anything, but it'd be pretty funny."

"That it would," he said. "But seriously, I need to figure something out while I'm here."

"I think once you see it, you'll know. Hey! you could use this!" I exclaimed, while holding up a clothes hanger. Dalton started laughing at my random idea.

"A clothes hanger huh? How would I kill swarms of zombies with that?" he asked.
"Well, you could hook 'em in the eye or something," I replied.

"That's an idea, I'll have to remember," he told me. Then he proceeded to start rapping. "I'm hookin' zombies in the eyes, hookin' zombies in the eyes. If zombies come up on me, yo, they're in for a surprise!" I couldn't stop laughing, like I said before, funny and cute. Dalton was seeming more and more perfect by the minute.

We left the store we were in and made our way to the next one. On the way there we passed a flower shop, and Dalton stopped and grabbed me a rose.

"Here you go Jessie," he said as he blushed.

"Aww, thank you so much Dalton. That's so sweet of you," I said as I accepted his gift. Immediately Dean started to mock me with a horrible impression of me.

"That is not how I sound Dean," I snapped. "You're just jealous anyways."

"Hey! I thought that impression was pretty accurate! And what would I be jealous of exactly Jessie?" Dean replied.

"Just shut up Dean, God you're such a jerk now," I told him.

"I'm just asking, who or what do I have to be jealous of? Have you seen me? I'm fucking beautiful!" Dean exclaimed.

"Just shut up Dean. You only wish you were half the guy Dalton is," I said.

"Ha! Whatever," Dean said. I looked over at Dalton, who's face was beat red at this point. I hoped he wasn't too embarrassed, but I meant every word I just said, Dean was a jerk. I felt sorry for any girl who ever had to deal with that idiot. He used to be so sweet too, but at some point in his life, he just let the way he looked go straight to his head. I couldn't stand people like that. I wanted the old Dean back, my friend Dean. The new Dean could go fall in a well as far as I cared.

A few more stores down and I had about four shopping bags filled with stuff. This was the most fun I had ever had shopping. Its much better when everything's free. We were approaching the CD store and only one thought crossed my mind. I hope Bob isn't already here, because if he's not, I'm going to break all the crappy CDs he wants. I couldn't help but smile as we got closer to the store. I was crossing my fingers that he hadn't beaten me there.

I'd like to note that this is my first real attempt at writing any budding romance, and I myself think I'm doing okay at it. If I'm not... sorry. Glad we have the balance back in order now. Jessie has as many chapters as Bob and all is right with the world. One love! - Justin Hamm
