Big Sexy Rainbow (Jessie)

I couldn't stop crying inside of the coffin. I'm not sure if it was really a coffin, or if it was just a box with a bunch of nails in the top of it. Every time I took a breath I could feel my chest hit the nails and I felt like I was gradually starting to run out of air. I couldn't slow my breathing down though, because I was scared and I had given up on lighting the lighter after I burnt myself twice with it. I kept trying to imagine myself somewhere else, but every time my chest hit something, my concentration was thrown off. I wanted to die.

It felt like I was in there for days, even though it was probably just a few hours. I heard Lucky approaching the box, and I could hear him laughing as he opened the lid. I was still crying, and doing my best to breath normally. Lucky grabbed me by the wrist and lifted me out of the box. He grabbed me by the hair, and pulled my head back.

"There, there, Its all over now. Don't cry, I hate it when you girls cry," he said. "Now, if you don't want to go back in there, you'll remember our little game, and you'll remember how its played. Maybe next time your friend will do just a little better, or maybe you'll just have to lose on purpose."

Lucky dragged me by the hair back into the room where Layla was being held. He threw me to the ground and my head smacked the floor. I shook off the pain and backed myself into the corner of the room. Lucky laughed at me when I shot him an angry look.

"You look like you want to do something to me. That's precious, you know, you really are my favorite. I'd like you girls to know, that I had a little chat with your little boy toys. They're still on their way, but whether or not they'll find you in time, is a whole other story," Lucky said.

"They'll be here!" I shouted. "And I can't wait to see the look on your face when they do!" My words made lucky laugh hysterically.

"Oh, I really hope they do find the place! I need more meat to feed Veronica and Betty! Oh, you are a natural born comedian my dear! Well girls, I want you both to know, I have good news, and bad news," he said. "The bad news is, my old heroin connect was fresh out of heroin. The good news, he had a whole vial full of LSD in his old hiding spot. So for now, that's what we'll use to keep you girls in a... better state of mind. Later on I'll go to another old friend of mine and dig up his stash."

Lucky started to make his way toward me, pulling out his knife during the approach. He put the point of the blade under my chin and started to put pressure on it. One false move and he'd stab me through the bottom of my jaw. He pulled out a little eyedropper full of a clear liquid that I assumed was LSD. I had never seen it before, so I couldn't be one hundred percent sure.

"Now, stick out you're tongue sweetie," he told me. "One drop of this stuff should be more than enough to send you both on a ride. So I wonder what would happen if I gave you each ten. Let's find out shall we? Now, open!"

I stuck my tongue out and lucky put ten drops of the acid on my tongue. He covered my mouth for a minute to make sure I didn't try to spit any of it out. Then he made his way over to Layla and repeated the same process.

"Now, you girls sit tight for a little while. I'll be back down in about an hour after that takes full effect," Lucky said as he left the room. I couldn't help but wonder why he didn't tie me up next to Layla. He must have been really confident that I wouldn't be able to do anything. So far I didn't feel any different. I just hoped that maybe what he found wasn't acid at all. I could only hope that was the case, and I just drank ten drops of Visine or something like that.

"I'm so sorry Jessie, I heard you go off on him in the other room. What did he do to you?" Layla asked.

"I got stuffed in a box," I told her. "I'm really claustrophobic."

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry," Layla said.

"Its okay Layla, I told you, its not your fault. You can't blame yourself for any of this," I replied. "We have to stick together."

"I know," Layla said. "Do you think he really talked to the boys?"

"I don't know, he could just be trying to mess with us," I answered. "I'm just worried about this whole acid thing right now."

"Have you ever done acid?" Layla asked.

"I've never touched drugs in my life Layla," I replied. "Have you ever done it?"

"No, the worst thing I ever did was drink and I smoked pot one time. That was it though. I learned about LSD in school though," Layla explained.

"So what does it feel like?" I asked.

"I wish I knew, they just told me the health risks involved in taking it," she replied. "I wonder when its supposed to kick in."

"He said he'd be back in an hour," I said. "So I'm guessing it takes a while to take effect."

"Well, this sucks Jessie," Layla replied. "I have a very bad feeling about this."

"It does suck Layla, and I have that same feeling," I said. We sat in silence for a while and I started to notice myself feeling a little different. It felt like time was going a bit slower, and I couldn't stop smiling.

"I feel weird," Layla said.

"Me too," I replied. "I think its starting."

"What's starting?" she asked. "Where are we again?"

"I don't remember," I said before uncontrollably laughing. I kept repeating the phrase and Layla started to laugh along with me. It was like the funniest thing we had ever heard suddenly.

"Everything is moving!" Layla shouted. "Jessie! You're so colorful! And pretty! You're like a big, sexy rainbow!"

We both started to laugh again. We laughed so much I thought my sides were going to split in half and the smile on my face was so big now that I thought my jaw would never stop aching. All the lines on the tiles were more defined, and I started to follow them with my finger. It was like they were popping out of the floor. I heard Lucky coming back down the stairs, and suddenly the mood in the room changed.

"Oh shit!" Layla yelled. "Here he comes! We're in so much trouble!" Layla started to cry as Lucky opened the door and laughed at us.

"Well, it looks like both of you are having a whole lot of fun. I think its time we make things just a little more fun huh?"

Lucky walked over to me and shoved his tongue down my throat. Every detail of ugliness in his face was highlighted. Every pimple he had looked like it was ready to pop in my face and I tried to get away from him. He finally backed off and there was a black aura surrounding him. I knew it was the drugs and I tried to close my eyes to make it go away. When I reopened them, Lucky was standing there with that sick smile, and the aura was even stronger. He walked over to Layla, and kissed her as well. The aura went over Layla, and I couldn't see her anymore.

I could hear her screaming and I knew Lucky was still in the room, but it felt like every time I blinked, something changed. Lucky had pulled up a chair and was watching us in the corner of the room. Every time I looked at him he appeared different somehow. I started to notice my heartbeat, and for a while, I thought it was going to explode. Lucky just kept laughing at both of us, and even when he stopped, it was all I could hear.

"I feel like my fingers are made of chili!" Layla yelled. I normally would have laughed but I could tell it was freaking her out. She started to repeat the phrase over and over again, and coupled with Lucky's laughter, I could feel myself slowly going insane. All I could hear was laughing and chili fingers. Finally I broke down and started to scream. Somehow it helped, and everything seemed to go back to normal for a little bit. Layla had stopped chanting and Lucky stopped laughing for just long enough for my sanity to return.

I looked at a shadow on the ceiling and saw something emerging from it. It wasn't a person, it was more like an entire solar system had showed up. I could see the sun and the planets rotating around it. Slowly they all started to disappear one by one, until all I could see was the shadow again. The more I watched the shadow, the more it started to change shape. It looked like it was coming closer to me and all of the sudden Layla started to scream. I'm not sure why she was, but the sound started to repeat in my brain. The shadow got closer and soon took shape as Lucky's face.

"Here's one of them right now," said Lucky's shadow. "Say something for them!"

"The shadow is talking to me!" I yelled. I could hear Lucky's evil laugh, and the shadow left. I watched as it floated over to Layla and command the same of her. Layla just screamed at the shadow, and I heard Lucky's voice once more.

"We're having so much fun right now. Wish you were here," he said. The shadow finally left the room, and Layla and I were left alone again. Layla was shaking her head back and forth violently, and it started to look like she was forming a second head.

"Jessie! Come here!" she screamed. I did as she asked and walked on my knees over to her.

"My hair is laughing at me! We have to cut it off! Help me bite it off!" she shouted.

"No! Your hair isn't laughing at you!" I replied. I was trying to make sense of why she was thinking that, but a new thought entered my brain every two seconds it seemed like. I suddenly felt like I was being watched and felt the need to tell her.

"Its not your hair! This room is filled with eyes! Somebody is watching us! Its the eyes! The eyes are laughing!" I screamed.

"Stay with me!" Layla yelled. "Maybe if we stay together, the eyes will stop laughing!"

I rested my head up against Layla's legs, and she kicked me off of her. I fell backwards and felt helpless as the newly formed eyeballs had me surrounded and were holding me down on the ground.

"Layla! Why did you do that!" I shouted. "Now the eyes have me!"

"I'm sorry! I thought you were going to try and steal my skin!" she yelled. I finally shook the eyes off of me and started to crawl back over to Layla.

"Don't kick me this time! I don't want to steal your skin!" I yelled.

"I know, just hurry! I need somebody to hold me down, or I'm going to float away!" Layla replied. I grabbed hold of Layla's leg and started to pull down with everything I had.

"I won't let you float away!" I yelled. Layla started to scream in response.

"I'm floating right now! You have to let me go right now Jessie!" Layla shouted.

"You're not going anywhere!" I yelled back. "You're not floating away I promise!"

"Are you sure?" she asked. "Jessie! There's something on your back!" I screamed and threw myself down to the ground. I started to roll around like I was on fire.

"Get it off me!" I kept yelling.

"It's gone now! You killed it!" Layla shouted. "Jessie, do you think I'm pretty? The butterfly on my shoulder keeps telling me I'm not."

"Don't listen to the butterfly! Its lying to you!" I yelled back. I looked at my hands and the handcuffs around my wrist had turned into a snake. I shrieked in horror and tried desperately to get them off.

"What's wrong!?" Layla asked.

"My handcuffs turned into a snake!" I screamed.

"Oh, I'm tied to this tree, and there's all these butterflies that keep saying I'm ugly. They say the snake is their friend! I don't think you should be afraid of the snake!" Layla replied.

"Well, the snake is scary!" I shouted.

"He's a friendly snake. Am I ugly Jessie?" Layla repeated.

"No you're not ugly! I told you that! Are you sure this is a friendly snake? Layla! You're feet are huge!" I yelled.

"Oh my God! Get the shrinking potion! The butterflies say its the only way to cure it!" Layla yelled back.

"Where is the potion?" I asked.

"It's at the end of the rainbow!" she answered.

"I don't see the rainbow Layla!" I yelled back. Layla started screaming again, and I followed her lead. We screamed at the top of our lungs for about five minutes, and when we stopped, everything seemed normal again. Layla's feet were normal sized and the room got dark again.

"Jessie, do you see the giraffe?" Layla asked.

"I don't see anything, I'm closing my eyes now, I don't want to see anything else," I told her.

"Jessie, the giraffe is pretty! You have to see it!" she told me.

"Open you're fucking eyes!" said an evil voice. I screamed and looked around to try and find the voice, but there was nothing there.

"What's wrong!?" Layla asked.

"Something cussed at me! I think it was the giraffe!" I yelled.

"The giraffe left hours ago! You missed him!" Layla replied.

"I killed the fucking giraffe!" said the evil voice.

"Layla! The voice said he killed the giraffe!" I told her.

"They killed Ralph! No! I loved Ralph! He was my best friend! Tell the voice he's a meanie!" Layla yelled.

"You're a mean voice!" I screamed.

"You're tripping on acid!" said the voice. "None of this is real."

"I know that! I know that! I'm not stupid!" I shouted.

"Who are you talking to?" Layla asked.

"This voice! It keeps talking to me!" I said.

"Oh, that's nice. I was thinking about something. What if we were all just fish? Fish that lived on land," Layla replied.

"If we were fish, wouldn't we die on land?" I asked.
"No, because we are a different kind of fish," Layla replied. "Oh my God! I'm so hungry! Are there any popsicles around?"

"I don't think they have popsicles around here," I answered. Layla and I went back and forth like this for God only knows how long. It could have been days, it could have been minutes. We had no sense of time, and I remember every time things would calm down, I just wanted it to end, but just when I thought it was over, it would kick back in and become stronger than the last time. I didn't have a voice after a while, because of all the screaming.

I heard Lucky start to make his way back downstairs. I was hoping it was the hawk man coming back to feed his children, but when the door swung open, I knew I was wrong. He smiled and laughed when he saw Layla and I huddled against each other in fear. He set down a briefcase in the middle of the room and opened it up. When he did, a fire bat flew out of it, and flew right next to my head. If I wouldn't have ducked, it would have burned me.

"Well girls, I'm back. Glad to see you both had fun. I hope you didn't miss me too much. I have great news. We hit the heroin jackpot at my other friend's. So, you won't have to worry about feeling a thing for the next few days. Don't worry, I'll be gentle as a lamb when I'm inside of you."

Lucky pulled out a spoon and started to burn it. The flame changed colors every two seconds. He filled the syringe up with the heroin and made his way over to Layla, and started to tap her wrist to find the veins. He injected her and Layla started to scream.

"The dragon man is killing me!" she screamed. I backed into the corner of the room and watched as lucky changed into the dragon man that Layla had seen. He filled the syringe and started to chase me down. I tried to crawl away but he grabbed be by the seat of my underwear and dragged me towards him. He held me down and injected the heroin into my veins. It burned like fire as it went in, and I screamed in pain as he did it. He started to walk away and I heard him say one last thing before he left.

"I don't know how good that stuff is, hell, for all I know, I just killed both of you. If one of you starts foaming at the mouth, we'll take care of it. I've handled bitches OD-ing on me before, and I've gotten good at playing doctor. Now, you both just sit tight. I have to go greet our new guests."

Lucky left the room and everything started to go dark. I started gasping for air, and felt my heartbeat starting to slow down. I knew I was going to die, and I didn't care. It was too late. They didn't make it in time. It was all over. I let the darkness take over and closed my eyes. I seen the light coming closer, and I reached out to grab it. I didn't want to die here, but not every story has a happy ending. A few more seconds, and my nightmare was over. Dalton... you were too late.

Yea I really love this chapter. It has a sense of humor while maintaining a sense of creepiness. I feel I portrayed a bad acid trip pretty well here. You now know what was happening on the other side of that phone call. Oh, word to everyone. Got HARDCORE yelled at for using the N word in a previous chapter, so I'm going to have to do some editing. I'm not allowed to use it anymore. That comes from Ashley/Jessie/Alice herself, so I will be doing some editing. Don't worry, Kwame will still be awesome. I understand her point of view, and I respect it. I felt it made the character more accurate. But! I as I said, I understand where people could be offended, and me being the complete anti-racist that I am, I will do my best to make things right. I apologize to Ashley/Jessie/Alice and whoever else found that offensive. Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart I do. When I edit this, people will wonder what the hell I'm talking about, but that's okay. Anyways, I still really like this chapter. So hopefully you get a good laugh, and yet, still end up worried. What will happen? Stay tuned folks! One love! - Justin Hamm
