"Revive Me With Just One Touch..."

"Velair.."

It'd been a week since I supposedly went 'unstable'.My phone rang every few hours,Melissa always on the line.A plastic cuff hung loosely around my ankle,it was a heart meter and a shock therapy tool.Just in case.

"In my room..",I called back.

Seconds later Jalen was leaning against my doorframe,I watched her shift uncomfortably from the corner of my eye.

"I'm going to work",she watched me carefully,"You think you're gonna be okay here?".

Jalen was never one to be cautious with me,even as children when I would come home acting like a robot.What had changed?

"I don't see why not..",my eyes roaming over the pile of photographs strewn across the floor.

She could have stomped over to where I sat and kicked me in the stomach.Nothing would have tore me away from Jasper's smiling childhood face.He was the epitome of beauty.His eyes a clear ocean blue,a mop of golden lace atop his head.His laughter rang in my ears.

"Velair!Come out,come out wherever you are?"

A feeling of thrill shot through 
me,a smile decorated my face.Jasper had spent his whole summer teaching me how to play hide and seek,making sure I never gave myself away.It soon became my favorite game.

"Velair!",Jalen was impatiently waving her hand in front of my face,"Earth to Velair,did you even hear a word I said?".

I stared blankly at her face.

She let out a frustrated sigh,"Tony is babysitting you today.He'll be here in less than an hour".

"What? Babysitter? Why?!".

Her hand cupped my cheek,"Because when you zone out,you might as well be dead.I love you enough to want to keep you safe.Just be quiet and live with it.You can't stop my love".

Though I knew she had a point,I couldn't help the growl that escaped past my lips. "I love you too".

She pressed a soft kiss to my temple and took a step back.My eyes slowly returning to the photographs beneath us.Sadness licking at my heart.

"I'll be back before you know it.."

A mumbled goodbye,softened foosteps,a hushed thud and Jalen was gone.Her presence lingering over me as I sat with my memories.

"Velair!Velair,are you okay?".

Jasper loomed over my crouched form in the shadows.I had been trying my best to hide.

"Velair,talk to me please."

I swallowed the lump in my throat,"D-Dad..".

The sobs shook my small frame,Jasper's long arms pulling me into his chest."It's going to be alright.I promise".

I clung to the boys shirt.Temporarily forgetting the memories of moments before that were ripping away at my sanity.

His hand came up to wipe the tears away,"Do you trust me?".

I lifted my face to look into his eyes,a whimper rolling out of my mouth as I stared into the ocean colored orbs.All I could manage was a simple nod.

"Good",he unlatched my hands from his shirt and set me on my feet,"I need you to pretend like it's summer".

I stared at him,confused."W-What?".

His mouth was set in a straight line,"Pretend like it's summer and we're playing hide and seek".

A loud crashing sound momentarily made us forget about each other.And then as if nothing had happened,Jasper grabbed my hands and pulled me towards the open window.

"Run..",I watched his face twist in anger and sadness,"Run and hide!".

In one quick movement I was standing outside,goosebumps rising all over my skin.The wetness of my clothes not helping me in the cold night.Anothereven louder crash pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Go now!".

My feet disobeyed.I stood my ground.

Jasper's face softened,"Please go Velair.Run until you can't stop and when you do stop, don't forget to hide."

The tears stung my eyes,"J-Jasper.."

"Do you trust me?".

I nodded,once again losing my voice.

A soft smile lit up his features,"I'll come find you.I promise.."

Tony

"Hello?".

Jalen had thankfully left the door to herand Velair's apartment unlocked,making it easy for me to walk in.She had pulled me away from everyone yesterday and given me a piece of her mind.

"Tony!Grow some balls!If you want Velair you're going to have to work for her!".

"Make a damn move Tony!"

"Can you really stand by and watch Mike steal her away?

I shook her voice away from my mind.I wasn't here because she was right or because she had made me,well not mainly,I was here because I wanted to be.

"Velair?",I looked around every open space before finally stepping into her room.

I found her there.A thousand and one pictures littering the floor where she sat.My heart fell when I saw the glitter of fresh tear stains on her cheek.In between her fingers was a picture.If you knew her well enough, you would've known who was permanently captured there.

"Velair..",I could feel my heart breaking as she lifted her head and her brown eyes bore into my own.

Silent tears falling from her swollen,red eyes.Adding to the shine of her already flushed cheeks.
This girl held whatever pieces of my heart were left.

I fell to my knees in front of her,collecting her into a hug.The second my arms linked behind her a strangled cry escaped her lips.Her pain seeped into me and I began to cry with her.
I don't know how long I rocked her in my arms or for how long the tears fell from my eyes,all I know is that the world never seemed so cold as when these words left her lips.
