The Illusion of Separation

Death is completely different for different age groups. For older people, it's expected. Their time on Earth is running out and sooner or later they're going to have to succumb to an illness, a disease, or just die in their sleep. No one is all that surprised about an old person dying. But for a teenager...well, no one expects a teenager to vanish off the face of the Earth, as long as they don't have some kind of terminal illness. It's shocking, horrifying, when a teenager dies. Half the time, you can't even believe it.

I certainly didn't.

I don't own Chris, Carter, or any real people mentioned in the story. I do own Hannah, though, and her friends and family. Lucky them.
