Eagle in the Sky
Ever since he was born in a secretly alive Aztec city, Quauhtli accepted the fact that he could never be a simple human.
Although, living as a Shapeshifter has its plusses.
You can just fly and forget, fly and forget . . . and feel absolutely weightless in the air, feeling rushes of it whisper against your feathers . . .
But that doesn’t mean that ’shifter life is perfect.
Shapeshifter lives are harder than humans—you have to deal with the hunter-prey, and kill-prey-eat-well instincts.
But when Quauhtli’s soul is taken by what the Shapeshifters call a Soul Snatcher, a giant eagle that swoops down from the sky every hundred years to get a soul, the Aztec clan is too shocked to do anything to get Quauhtli’s soul back.
This story is part of a sort of drabble, and is unconnected. You can read random ‘sequels’ of this and not be confused because there are no prior connections. I just put these together because they were a series of dreams and … yeah.
