You Don't See Me

All throughout dinner, Elizabeth seemed to be upset, staring past me with anger showing in her face.

When I finally noticed what, or who, she was staring at, I became even more confused. "Elizabeth, why are you glaring at Mae?" I asked, tilting my head slightly.

"Well, you pro-- No, I don't think I should tell you," She responded, and looked away from me to the other side. "I'm your Fiance, right? You need to tell me," I muttered, looking at her pointedly.

"Oh, Alright. You probably don't remember, but we used to know Mae, a long time ago. And, well, she was your fiance," She responded, and frowned. "What?" I asked, not believing. If she was my fiance, then I would remember her, correct? Right. Elizabeth was lying.

You don't have to believe me, but please don't leave her for me," She said, and I was reminded of a little something in my pocket, but decided to save it for later.

I would propose correctly at the ball I was hosting in two days.
