Don't Be Afraid

Mall Time

“Gena relax,” Brian groaned taking the backpack from Gena and sighing. “I have taken care of Sophie before, she is in good hands.” He looked to the blond for a moment, leaning over he wrapped his arms around her in a gentle hug.

“I know Brian…It’s just with everything going on around here I worry about her” The blonde truly looked pained to hand the child over for the day.

“Gena, while we have her I promise you that she’ll be happy and out of harm’s way.” Brian added softly as he released the blonde from his grip before turning towards the drummer. He was dancing around the front hallway with Sophie in his arms.

“OK, be safe” Gena walked over and kissed Sophie’s cheek before tip toeing her way back into the kitchen where her boyfriend and lawyer were sitting still.

“Lets go munchkin!” Jimmy laughed before racing out to the black escalade in the drive way. Brian rolled his eyes as he followed after the lengthy man shaking his head.

“Freak” Brian mumbled. He pulled his keys out of his pocket and got in the driver’s side as Jimmy climbed in the back with the toddler.

“You know what you’re just mad that she’s cuter then you are!” Jimmy laughed and shook his head as he reached over pressing his fingers against the little girls face.

“I am” Brian admitted letting out a small laugh and shaking his head before starting the car leaning back against the seat as they took off towards the mall. Sophie looked at everyone in the car both her uncle’s were quite as if they were thinking.

“Uncle Bri?” She called from her seat as she curled up into it a bit trying to get comfortable. The bruises on her sides made it difficult to move around without causing herself pain. Brian looked up from the road for a minute to glance in the back mirror raising an eyebrow before his eyes went back to the road.

“Yeah Soph?”

“Can I get Ice cream?” Her voice was little as she set her head against the side of the car seat that she was strapped into. Brian and Jimmy both let out a small chuckle at the little ones question. Brian pretended to think for a moment before nodding his head.

“Of course we can get ice cream Sophie!”

“Yeah! What would be a good night out with Uncle Brian and me without ice cream?” Jimmy threw his arms up making the three year old let out a giggle. Jimmy glanced over to the little girl smiling as he noticed the smile on her face though her eyes were searching the car and her feet were kicking every now and then.

“Music!” she exclaimed pouting out her bottom lip looking at jimmy and then making a point to stretch herself so Brian would see her face in the mirror. Brian couldn’t help but comply with the little one’s demands. After all the trauma she’d experienced in the past few days the last Jimmy and himself could do was help her enjoy today.

“Wanna listen to Daddy’s band?” the guitarist questioned as he effortlessly clicked a few buttons turning on Nightmare, which happened to be the little girl’s favorite Avenged cd.

“Yay!” she squealed from the back seat clapping her hands together and kicking her feet as she listened to the cd and sang along. It took about the length of the first two songs before they pulled up to the mall. Brian couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh at all the cars that were parked. He had been hoping it wasn’t going to be busy.
