Life of a Teenage Haner

I sighed as I pulled my bag up higher on my shoulder and glared at the building in front of me. It was huge and filled with tons of kids from my own age range though so far none of them looked particularly interesting.

I was bumped out of my musings when a friend, Adam, bumped my shoulder with his arm as he stood beside me. Turning my head I saw him smiling down at me

“come on Layla, get going!” I groaned but he just laughed and pulled me by the hand into the building.

He continued pulling me until we got to the assembly hall where we would all meet at the start and end of every year so that rules could be recited and congratulations for a good year could be offered. It was boring and I always loathed going to it.

“why do we have to go to this Adam?” I moaned, Adam looked back at me as he led me to the seats where our other friends sat and said

“because we do, you know you’ll get a detention if you don’t and I for one don’t want to see your Mom get that pissed off look on her face” I rolled my eyes

“Mom isn’t really pissed when I do it, I can see she’s really laughing” Adam shrugged as he shoved me down in a seat, the people around us nodding in acknowledgement. Taking the seat next to me Adam spoke

“never the less I still find it scary so sit down and zone out while the head master talks” I sighed but did as he said.

So turning so I was facing forwards I unfocused my eyes and kind of went inside my own head and wondered about what Mom would be making for dinner tonight.

Before I knew it I was being shaken from my trance. Looking up I saw another friend, Aaron, looking down at me with a grin

“come on Layla, we have classes to get to” I pouted as I stood and shouldered my bag again

“do I have to go?” I asked and Aaron rolled his eyes before he placed his hands on my shoulders and forcibly turned me around and shoved me towards the exit doors that led to the rest of the building

“yes you do, now I know not all of us are as smart as you but classes are still mandatory so move that tush out the door and into class” I groaned but let him push me to class, let him do all the hard work.

We arrived at Chemistry and I was shoved onto a stool, I glared at Aaron and rubbed my shoulder

“what is it with you guys and forcing me to do things?” I asked Aaron who took the seat next to me, though the answer came from behind where Zoe sat

“well we happen to need good grades to do something in life and so do you but since someone always has their mind of different things we have to focus it for you” I turned and stuck my tongue out at her to which she laughed at before the teacher entered and I turned around to face front.

I was shocked though seeing a guy stood next to him, he looked our age and very good looking with sandy blonde hair that fell to about the base of his neck in soft waves, eyes of gold and bronzed skin covered by jeans and a t-shirt. I raised a brow and whispered to Aaron

“who is that?” Aaron looked at me from the corner of his eye amused

“you really did zone out didn’t you?” I looked confused

“what do you mean?”

“he means that that is the new kid Nathan, he was introduced in the assembly which you clearly tuned out again” Zoe whispered from behind us and I nodded slightly indicating I heard as I watched as Nathan was shown to a seat by Kelly the deputy head cheerleader who immediately started flirting with him.

I giggled slightly at the sight; he would probably be in the pretty crowd by lunch. I shook my head of thoughts concerning the new guy and concentrated on Molecular Bonding.

By the end of class I was bored as hell so when the bell rang I muttered a thank you under my breath and packed all of my things into my bag before heading out of the room to go to my locker and grab another book.

I found my locker and entered the combination so the door opened. Reaching inside I grabbed my English book and swapped it for the Chemistry one before closing it up and shoving the book into my bag. Turning around as I did so I looked up once finished and found I was looking into gold eyes.

Nathan stood from where he was leant against the lockers on the other side of the hall and crossed towards me wearing a smirk

“hello there, I’m Nathan Crosse” I raised a brow at the cocky tone

“I would want to know this why?” I asked though not wanting an answer and moved to walk down the hall to English. It seemed he didn’t want to take a hint and he followed me, keeping pace easily

“so I heard that you’re a really smart girl” I rolled my eyes

“too smart to fall for any of your games now leave me alone” Nathan laughed as he grinned

“why would I want to? You seem to be an interesting person, more so than these losers” I shook my head as we came to a stop outside my class. Turning I glared up at his relaxed and smirking form

“look if you think you’re too good for this school then piss off, in the mean time leave me the hell alone” Nathan looked at me amused

“ooo fiery, I like it, I’ll be seeing you around Layla” I gritted my teeth as he turned and sauntered off, his hands in his pockets.

I entered the room and took the empty spot next to Zoe who, seeing my face looked at me with concern

“what happened?”

“That douche Nathan is what happened” I growled, Zoe looked at me confused

“hot new guy Nathan?” I nodded and she raised a brow “how did he get on your bad side already, he’s barely been here an hour” I groaned

“he is an ass, a cocky arrogant ass who deserves to be taken down a peg or ten” Zoe laughed as she patted my arm

“I’m sure you’ll find a way to do it” I suddenly smirked

“damn straight I will” Zoe looked kind of worried but she still smiled knowing that when I set my mind to something, I did it.
