The Heart Does Go On

Chapter 104 - "I'm going to miss you"

Today there is an assembly to talk about the ‘key dates’ now that the end of the year was only a month away, excluding exams.

Of course the assembly was lead by our very fair and unbiased school captain, Slater. And of course I’m being sarcastic.

Slater was the school captain of the school, who only got the position because his dad is head of the parent’s school council or whatever crap they call it. He loved to be a dictator, but the problem was everyone just ignored him, hence why I’ve never crossed paths with him or mentioned him before.

Apparently he was the one who put Tarnie under pressure to have the year book as DVD, she actually ended up quitting the yearbook committee after we became friends, and is urging everyone to take their own photos of their friends and give them to her, so she can copy them and make a photo album for everyone, instead of the crappy yearbook that Slater is making out of spite of not getting his own way.

I quit the yearbook committee too.

Slater was also at the front of all seniors right now, dictating on the little power he had left. Everyone was dead silent, of the fear of getting a detention from one of the teacher’s whose eyes would not leave the sea of students.

Slater is probably the reincarnation of Stalin, he believes in communism too, apparently. This is why him and Seto don’t get along, Seto being the owner of a multinational company laps up the market capitalist gains, and so Slater and Seto have a bit of a rivalry.

“So this year there will be no senior trip, as we believe there is a high risk of damaging the school’s reputation with student’s behaviour.” Slater said, and a huge groan was heard from all the students.

“We, more like he believes.” Duke snickered, and I joined in.

“At least with the senior trip cancelled, we don’t need to spend any extra time with him.” I said just above a whisper, for everyone around me to hear, most people around me giggled.

“After negotiations with my father and the rest of the school council we in the end did decide to go ahead with prom, instead of talks to cancel it. Prom will be held the last day of school, as a small treat before exams. However, there will be no theme.” Slater bitterly informed the year level, who all broke out in excited whispers.

“Something he didn’t ruin! Wow!” Joey said loudly, who was then quickly ushered out of the assembly hall by teachers.

“Thank you all for your time to listen to this assembly, and I appreciate that you all accept my fair and unbiased views, unlike other fascists that exist-“ Slater began, but he was cut off by my loud laugh, which echoed off the walls.

CRAP! I meant that to be a little snicker to Duke, not for the WHOLE assembly to hear.

One of the teachers began to make her way towards me, but the entire senior year broke out into hysterical laughter, after being shown the light by me.

Slater was cut off mid sentence, and immediately became flustered.

“Um, that’s it for today.” He said, clearly embarrassed and walking off stage.

Everyone then began to run for the exits, me included. The assembly was such a drag, and I was split up from everyone except for Duke, who was seated next to me.

However, I did learn a few things.

Senior trip, which was meant to be happening in 2 weeks, had been cancelled. Everyone had inklings that it would be cancelled, so everyone was planning their own senior trips with their own groups of friends, including my group. So I assume that it’s still on for the gang and I.

Prom was in about a month, on the last day of school.

After prom there would be two weeks of exams, and then graduation.

And from then on, summer holidays! A week or two after graduation we’d also get our college acceptance letters, how exciting!

The end is nearly here, and although I’m frightened of the future, and all my friends would be split up, I’m still riding on the wave of happiness. I had worked my butt off all year; I was excited that there was only a short amount of time left of doing that. I guess the consequences of graduating hadn’t sunk in yet.

When we made our way out of the assembly, Duke and I met up with Joey, Tristan and Kathryn.

“Who was the legend who laughed and got Slater to shut up? That was legendary.” Kathryn laughed, and Duke sent her a smirk.

“Miss Campbell is that legend.” Duke replied, and Tristan and Kathryn let out a low whistle and began to instantly praise me, patting me on the back and high fiving me.

“I’m glad you shut up that moron, I couldn’t stand another second of him hammering on.” I heard a familiar voice behind me.

I turned around to see Seto, and I instantly ran into his arms, earning wolf whistles from Tristan and Joey.

“Ella, I need to speak to you. I suggest we find an empty classroom now.” Seto informed me.

Wow, he didn’t take the chance to take a dig at Joey? This was serious.

“Okay.” I shrugged, quickly waving goodbye to my friends before following Seto off to an empty classroom.

“What’s up?” I asked him, taking a seat on a table. Seto sat in the chair, directly opposite of me.

“I have to go on a business trip, I fly out tonight.” Seto sighed, and my head jolted up.

“WHAT? Exams are in a month; you’re going to miss out on class time as well! You’ll get behind and fail!” I whined, instantly jumping up from my seat.

Seto stood up, and put his hands on my shoulders. He slowly bought me closer to him, and kissed the top of my head.

“I’m flattered you care about me that much, babe. But I’m only gone for the weekend and half of next week. As for getting behind in school work, I already know everything I need to know for school, I’ve known all the content for this year the entire year. This is a Kaiba Corp. emergency, it takes priority.” Seto explained.

“Okay, just be careful. I’m going to miss you, this will be the longest I’ve gone without seeing you all year, even before we started going out.” I pouted.

“I’ll miss you more baby.” Seto said, cocking up my head and giving me a kiss full of passion.

Sorry it's been a while. My dad has been in hospital. This is another part based on something I did IRL.
