The Heart Does Go On

Chapter 19 - "Girls"

I was awoken at 9am by a text message, which I soon found out was from Yugi.

I let out a groan, Joey and I were out until 12am, and I didn’t get to bed until 2am because I wasn’t tired so I did some of my Accounting homework. 7 hours of sleep was uncool.

Hey, Yami wants to talk to you this morning. Could you come over ASAP? Sorry if I woke you, btw.

I sighed, but I decided not to be rude.

Sure. Let me shower and get ready. I’ll be at yours in about 40. I have to wash my hair.

I quickly jumped up, and did my ‘business’ of showering, blow-drying my hair, getting dressed, and applying my make-up.

Girls. I saw on my phone, and I laughed.

I walked into the game shop, and greeted gramps at the front desk. He waved, but we didn’t stop and chat as he had some customers to deal with.

I bounded up the stairs, and knocked on Yugi’s door. Yami answered.

“Come in, Ella.” He said, opening the door for me.

He shut it after I walked in.

“Forgive me, but I’m SOOOO tired.” I informed Yami.

“You can lie on Yugi’s bed if you want.” Yami said, pulling out Yugi’s computer chair and placing it next to the bed.

I accepted Yami’s offer, and flopped onto Yugi’s bed.

“So what did you need to talk about? I’m getting really curious.” I asked.

“This is...hard. Yugi was too scared to tell you, so he asked me to do it. Joey is Yugi’s best friend, and a good friend of mine, but what he is doing isn’t right, so we knew we had to tell you.” Yami said.

“Okay...he isn’t cheating is he?” I asked.

“No.” Yami replied, and I let out a breath of relief.

“What is he doing then? It can’t be that bad...can it?” I said.

“I guess it’s up to you to judge. Basically, Ella...I know what you both did last Saturday night, and I know what you both did yesterday afternoon.” Yami sighed.

“Joey told you?” I asked.

“Yugi, yes.” Yami replied.

“That’s okay. I don’t care if he told his best friends. I was expecting him to anyway.” I shrugged.

“That’s the thing Ella. He didn’t only tell Tristan, Bakura and I. He told you that Brendon Wright saw you in the secluded area didn’t he? That was the truth. But when Brendon bought it to Joey’s attention he was having a little joke, when Joey outright told everyone in a very vulgar manner about what you both did.” Yami explained.

“Wait...WHAT?! So he went around telling everyone we got it on?” I asked, outraged.

“Yep. As I said, very vulgarly too.” Yami replied.

“Okay. Well I’m going to do the smart thing and calm down before I confront him. I’m not going to jeopardize Yugi’s friendship with him either, so I’ll tell him Kathryn told me or something. Do you mind if I hang out here for a while?” I asked.

“Not at all.” Yami smiled.

At about 12, I knew I was calm enough to confront Joey. I had previously texted Kathryn and told her a brief recount of the story and said I’d use her to say that she was the one who told me. She agreed.

I called Joey and asked him to meet me at a diner near Yugi’s house at 12.30. He agreed.

“Thanks Yugi, for having the confidence to get Yami to tell me what Joey said. It was must have been hard to know you were going against your best friend’s back to say this.” I said to Yugi.

“It was,” he sighed “but it needed to be said. Joey needs to learn that you can’t treat girls that way.”

“Yeah, I guess.” I shrugged.

“What’s going to happen after you confront him?” Yugi asked.

“I don’t know. Like, I don’t plan to break up with him or anything, but I’m pretty angry with him right now.” I replied.

“I guess you should just go with the flow.” Yugi suggested.

“Yeah, maybe.” I shrugged.

I looked at my watch. 12.15

“I guess I’ll head out now. I’ll talk to you later and tell you how things go. Bye Yugi!” I said, heading for the door and waved bye.

“Bye Ella. Good luck. Follow your heart.” Yugi smiled.

Yeah right
