The Heart Does Go On

Chapter 36 - "You look hot"

It was after school Tuesday now, and I was at my locker gathering my things. I witnessed Tarnie quickly harass Seto at his locker yesterday and he told her what he told me, having the yearbook on DVD would be a horrible idea. She pouted, but invited him to the yearbook meeting, He didn’t reply as he walked off. He told me he had better things to do, but after he saw how passionate I was getting about the issue, he agreed to go to the next meeting to prove Tarnie’s idea as idiotic.

Most of the yearbook committee did agree with me though, and I was slowly building up an army against Tarnie and her bitchiness.

“Hey Ella!” Joey called to me, pulling me away from my thoughts.

“Yes Joey?” I asked him.

“The gang and I are going to the mall to buy our Halloween costumes, are you interested in coming along?” He asked.

“Um, I’m not sure. I’m not trick or treating this year.” I replied.

“WHAT?! WHY NOT?” Joey demanded.

“I don’t know how Seto would feel about it...I’m turning 18 soon and he’d think it’s kind of childish.” I replied, softly feeling embarrassed.

“Screw him, on second thoughts don’t.” Joey said, and dragged me off before I could protest.

We pulled up at Domino mall, and all piled out of Joey’s car.

“I have a driving lesson next week, so soon I’ll be able to cart you all around soon!” I exclaimed.

“FINALLY! I won’t be a taxi driver anymore!” Joey exclaimed.

We all walked in and I had a look around at the surroundings. Even though I had been in Domino for nearly 2 months, I hadn’t been to the mall yet. Which was strange as back home in L.A. I went shopping nearly every weekend.

I guess I was just being a lot wiser with my money, and I didn’t have a lot of spare time to do a lot of shopping.

“I’m starvin’!” Joey whined, as he began to steer himself towards the food court.

We all sighed, but followed through. Joey and Tristan bought massive plates filled with oily heated up food, which looked really gross. Yugi had bought some sushi, and Tea bought some yoghurt. I bought a really yummy smoothie, and headed back to the table where Joey and Tristan were eating really sloppily.

“So uh, what stores are there here to buy costumes?” I asked.

“Um, there’s one costume store” Yugi exclaimed.

“That’s pretty handy I guess. Does anyone have any idea what they want to go as?” I asked the group.

Joey mumbled something, but I couldn’t understand him because his mouth was filled with food.

“Ella, can I speak with you for a moment?” Tea asked me.

“Uh yeah, sure.” I said, casting an odd look to the boys and we got up and moved away from the table.

This is weird, what could Tea possibly want?

“Look, I don’t want to say this in front of the guys because it’s a tad embarrassing. But remember the French maid outfit I got for Duke’s party? I got it from a lingerie shop. The costume shop’s outfits aren’t very good for girl costumes.” Tea explained.

“So are you saying us girls should check out the lingerie shop?” I asked Tea.

“Exactly!” She said brightly.

I didn’t say anything as I went back to the table.

“Ok guys, Tea and I will be shopping together, just so we can surprise you boys on Halloween with our costumes. How about we all meet up at 4.30 at the entrance of the mall and decide what to do from there?” I suggested.

“Why do you want to surprise us?” Joey asked.

“So we can look drop dead sexy for you boys.” I winked, and Tea and I quickly walked off while the boys were confused and couldn’t protest.

“Um Tea?” I nervously asked her, as we were navigating ourselves around the mall.

“Yeah?” She replied.

“I couldn’t help but to notice the small blush on Joey’s face when I said what I said. Does he still have feelings for me?” I asked her.

Tea sighed.

“Look, don’t say I told you anything, okay? He hasn’t actually said anything, but everyone can tell. He always talks about you, and his rage for Kaiba has seemed to grow. He gets into an argument with him once a day, and the only other topic he seems to talk about besides you is how much he hates Kaiba.” Tea informed me.

“Oh. I guess we didn’t really get closure on our relationship, and it may take time for him to move on.” I said, and Tea remained quiet indicating that she wanted to drop the topic.

We walked into the lingerie store, and I was amazed at how pretty everything is.

“I’m in love!” I exclaimed, looking at the pretty bras.

“I’ll show you the costume section.” Tea said, leading me over to the back of the store.

“Can I help you?” a sales assistant asked.

“Hi, we’re looking for cute costumes for Halloween.” Tea replied.

“We’re not going with the ‘scary look’ this year,” I quickly added.

“Rightio. Would you like my opinion on what you girls should wear?” The assistant asked, and we replied with a yes.

She pulled through the racks of costumes, and pulled out a ‘naughty nurse’ outfit for Tea.

“It’s a little short, but tights would go nicely with it. It’s getting a little colder anyway.” The assistant said, giving the outfit to Tea to try on in the change room.

She then sorted through the racks of the costumes to find my costume. She then pulled out a cheerleader costume.

“You may not be blonde, but brunette is quickly becoming the new blonde. Besides, you have the right body to suit this costume well.” The assistant smirked.

I blushed, and quickly took the costume before she could say anything else.

As I was checking out the costume in the mirror, Tea called out to me.

“Ella, have you got yours on yet?”

I left my change room, and saw Tea’s costume. It really suited her face and hair well; she even had a nurse hat on.

“You look hot!” I exclaimed.

“Same for you! We SO have to wear these!” Tea said in an excited tone.

“We sure do. We’ll get extra candy” I giggled, going back into the change room to change back into my uniform.

After we got back into our uniforms, I decided to buy a few new bras, and a corset to wear under the cheerleader uniform.

“Trying to impress Kaiba are we?” Tea smirked, and I whacked her playfully as we left the store.

“Wait! We don’t want the boys to see our bags. Put them into my school bag, my bag is way oversized.” I said, and I opened up my bag.

“I have an idea. Why don’t we get ready at my house on Saturday?” Tea asked.

“That sounds great! We can give each other make up tips and advice so we can look as good as we can.” I smiled.

It was great to have such a girlie friend in Domino. Kathryn wouldn’t be caught dead participating in such an activity.

We met back up with the boys, and decided to go hang back at Yugi’s house, since I hadn’t for a while.

I guess it was nice to be hanging out with the gang again, I didn’t realise how much I missed them.
