Chapter 4: You Don't Have a Phone?

The Calamity

Recap: Kadaj looked down at me and smirked, “Don’t cry.” Little did I know that would become an inside joke between the three men who kidnapped me.

Chapter 4: You Don’t Have a Phone!?

I sighed and hugged my knees to my chest taking in everything that has happen. It’s been a few weeks sense I’ve been kidnapped by Kadaj and his gang. It’d be safe to say that I’ve learned a few things about all of them. They held the Sephiroth gene, they were after mother and they weren’t afraid to kill in order to get what they wanted. This made me slightly fearful of them, if Cloud and Tifa were looking for me they could get hurt, I couldn’t let that happen, ever. Cloud and Tifa were the only people I had left in my life. And as of right now, things looked pretty bleak. My current location was in the Forgotten City near the Sleeping Forest. I stood up as I heard the roar of three motorcycles indicating that Kadaj and his brothers were back. Something wasn’t right though, it looked like there were two additional bodies that seemed either like they were killed or brutally abused. As they grew closer it looked like they were Turks by the uniforms. One of them had short blond hair and was a female while the other had longer black hair and was a male; both were currently unconscious, or dead...

As the brothers pulled over I stormed over furious, “What did you do to them!?” I kneeled down to the victims to see how serious their wounds were.

“They had mother, Kyra, we only took the necessary steps,” Kadaj shrugged walking past me as I pulled out the Cure Materia that was still on me and started to use it on them. “Kyra? Why are you wasting your time on them?”

“No one deserves to be brutally hurt like this, Kadaj, not even you,” I said giving him a death glare.

“Humph, whatever,” Kadaj snorted and rolled his eyes while he strolled into the hide out with his brothers leaving me with the two Turks, whoever they were.

I sighed and continued to mend to them until I heard a twig snap nearby. I snapped my head in a panic and quickly rose off the ground, “Who’s there?” My voice shook slightly hoping it wasn’t Kadaj or the other two playing a prank on me. All of a sudden a red blur appeared before my very eyes. The blur then turned into a handsome man in his late twenties, (A/N: Yeah, yeah, he’s 59…But he’s still 29; somewhere around there!) “Mister Vincent!” I cried in joy thinking that I was rescued.

“Be quiet, we don’t want Kadaj and the others to hear us…Come on, we need to get Tseng and Elena out of here,” Vincent walked over to them as they started to wake up, “We’ll help them walk out of here, but we need to be fast.”

Tseng was the first to wake up and he was rather confused on his whereabouts, but once he saw the luminous trees he was at ease knowing his was in the Forgotten City. Elena woke up only moments later and had the same reactions as Tseng. Vincent and I helped them both out of the location to a distance that was safe enough to stay out of Kadaj’s grasp. We rested near a lake and finished mending to their wounds.

“Mr. Vincent, you do know that Kadaj and the others are after their “mother,” right?” I glanced up at him to see him nodding his head. “Well, why are we keeping their mother form them? It’s too cruel!”

Vincent sighed, “Because their mother is the calamity, Jenova. If Kadaj and his gang were to get their hands on Jenova’s head, then they could bring back Sephiroth.” Vincent looked over to me and saw my shocked expression, “You seem surprised.”

I nodded, “I would have never expected that from someone, not even Kadaj.”

“Well, that’s exactly why we can’t let them win,” Vincent stated leaning against a tree with his arms crossed. Now that I looked at him, I wondered what that golden claw on his left hand was for. It with hold some mystery in it.

‘Well, I might as well get to know him,’ I thought to myself. “Mr. Vincent, how do you know Cloud?”

His crimson gems looked at me, “I was in the basement of Shinra’s Mansion at Nibelheim. I was in a sort of deep stupor. Turns out that Cloud went into the basement to try and find out what Sephiroth was after…Him and the rest of AVALANCHE found me in a coffin and woke me. I later joined them in their quest.”

“Nibelheim!? How long were you in that basement?” I questioned him quickly wondering if he was even in there when I was growing up there. Wait, that’d be stupid, he’d have to be a kid in the basement! What kind of kid wanders into that creepy place?

“A long time,” he replied not wanting to answer.

I glanced at the ground and muttered an apology. I probably asked something that was too personal, but that only sparked more of my curiosity. “Um…Mr. Vincent, do you have a phone I could borrow? I’d like to call the bar and let everyone know I’m alright, thanks to you!”

Vincent shook his head, “I don’t have a phone.”

“That’s not safe though! You should always have a phone on you in case you get hurt!” I exclaimed.

“You should take your own advice,” he said in a slightly mocking way.

I couldn’t help but grin, but pouted all the same, “Kadaj took my phone and smashed it into a million pieces!” I glanced at him hoping to get a smile, but only his eyes showed a little amusement while the rest of his face remained emotionless.
