Passenger Seat

What to do? What to say? I needed to let her know that everything was
okay and that's she was right. I did lead her on but I didn't want
that anymore. I wanted her. She was at her friends Sara's I knew.

Sara was just down the street too. It was three in the morning though. I
picked up my phone and called her anyway.

"Stephen?" she asked in a sleeply voice.
"Karina I need to talk to you. So get ready we're going for a drive. "
"Okay but Sara's dad will hear your car?"
"I'll drive farther down just jump the fence dad will never know."
"I don't know.... This just sounds like-"
"Karina just come on."
"Fine." she hung up and I got into the car starting it up.

I drove pass Sara's house and saw her bedroom light on. I stopped at
the end of the street and looked back. The light went out and the
window opened. The blue checked curtins blew out into the dark as she
jumped out and onto the ground.

She turned to say something to Sara and smiled and walked to the
fence. I watched her move in the moonlight. Her slender body and long
strawberry blonde hair that reached to the middle of her back. She had
on short blue jeans shorts and a red low cut shirt with a white under
shirt. She jumped over the fence and all most lost her red converse.

I laughed to myself and unlocked the doors. She looked both ways and
opened the door and she steped in. She ran her hand through her bangs and
flipped them over to the side. In the dashboard lights I could see her
blue green eyes. She closed the door and looked over at me.
"You came?" I wanted to reach over to her and touch her smooth cheek.
"How could I not?" she smiled and clicked her seat belt.
I pushed my foot down on the gas and the car jumped forward.
"So where are you taking me?" she looked at me and smiled.
"We're going to that park were the river runs between the trees."
"Okay can I turn the radio on?"
"Sure but don't play any gay songs..."

I heard her laugh at my small joke. She turned on the radio and played
all the songs I knew. How could this girl in my passenger seat be
making my heart beat so hard?

We got there in only five minutes. We hadn't said anything the whole
way there. I parked the car and rolled down the windows. I pulled the
keys out and dropped them into the cupholder. She undid her seat belt
and looked over at me.
"So did you bring me here so you could kill me and drop my body in
the river?"
"No I just wanted to be alone. With you. " she blushed and looked at
her hands.
"Stephen you know I like you right?"
"Yes."
"Well I didn't want to come with you beacuse I was just going to get
hurt like last time."

I knew what she was talking about. Two years ago she told me that I
had lead her on and she hated me. But when she came to high school and
I saw how much she changed I wish I hadn't. She had gotten taller and
her hair got longer. Her and her bestfriend Sara were water girls. She
had dated a guy named Dylan but broke up with him. She had only went
out with him so Sara could get to know Dustin.
"Well Karina I'm sorry for that and I just wanted you to know...."
it was me who looked down. I felt her hand on my cheek and I looked up.
"Stephen I've been in love with you for a long time. And I have all
ways hoped you feel the same way...."
"I do I guess I never saw you the way I do now." It was true she
wasn't that little girl anymore.
"What do you mean?"

She smiled a little bit and tilted her head to the side. This was my
chance. I leaned into her kissing her softly. She put both hands around
my neck and put herself into the kiss. I felt her pull back and I
looked at her in the dark.
"You don't know how long I've waited for you to do that."
"Im glad you're here. Karina can I ask you something?" she ran her
hand through my hair before saying,
"What is it Stephen?"
"Will you be my girlfrined?"
"Yes Stephen I will..."

Some how from there we ended up in the backseat. It felt so right to
be there with her. I felt so warm. We talked for hours. I knew
everything it felt like. She fell asleep and so did I. I finally had my
girl now.

"Karina wake up." I shook her gently and her eyes opened.
"Where am I?" she looked around and sat up.
"Come on I got to get you home I swear you're parents won't know. " I
got in the front and started the car. I've never been so unsure if I
wanted to say goodnight.
"Can we take the long way home?" she asked smiling at me.
"Yes then we can be alone. The sun only came up an hour ago." She
leaded over and kissed my cheek. I stopped at the end of the road where
I had picked her up at.
"I don't want to go what if I get in trouble?" I took her face with
both of my hands and looked deep into her eyes.
"We'll never get caught baby knowone will know."

I kissed her forehead and let her go. She walked away. I watched as she
hit the window and it opened. Sara and a shirtless Dustin helped her up and through the window.
She was gone and I could still feel her lips on mine. I fell in love
with her in my passenger seat.
