Chapter 4

Giselle sat at a table in Panera Bread eating her food quietly as the four boys around her chatted excitedly about the tour they were on.

“I can’t wait to get to Chi-town. The Chicago crowd is always wild.” Mike said with a smile.

“Not as crazy as Dallas, actually all of Texas. Dallas, Houston, Austin…all of them go crazy.” Tony said

“Both of you are mistaken. New Orleans makes me want to whip my dick out.”

Giselle immediately spit out her drink and began coughing. Mike started patting her on her back trying to will away her coughing. The guys looked at her worried as her skin began to flush red. When she stopped coughing, she almost fell out of her seat laughing. The guys chuckled as Giselle grabbed her stomach and tried to even breathing.

“Oh my god Jaime. That was the most genius thing I’ve ever heard in my life.” Giselle said wiping away stray tears.

‘”Well I’m glad I could make you laugh.” He said smiling

“Also I just want to mention how strong your accent was. I could definitely tell you were from Louisiana.” Tony said.

“It usually happens when I’m happy or excited. Or sad and angry.” Giselle said subtly looking at Vic and Jaime.

“Well its kinda hot. I like it.” Mike said

“Thanks.” Giselle said chuckling.

“So tells us about yourself.” Vic said

“What do you want to know?” she asked

“Anything. Tell us whatever you want.” Mike said

“Okay. Well my name is Giselle Olivia Gautier and I’m 23. Most people call me Gigi or Gizmo.” She started

“Like Gizmo from the movie Gremlins?” Jaime asked

“Yeah. Apparently it was one of my favorite movies when I was young and he was my favorite character. Also my mom told me I looked like Gizmo.” Giselle said laughing

“I can see that. You have the big doe eyes and small nose.” Tony said

“And the pout. You definitely have the pout.” Mike said making everyone laugh.

“Yeah well that’s where I get that name from. Gizmo or Giz. So feel free to call me any of those if you want.” Giselle said. “I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I have a French father and a Cherokee Indian mother.”

“That explains your last name. I was going to ask you about that.” Vic said

“Yeah my dad is probably the most proud French guy living in the United States. He’s been living here for almost thirty-five years and still has the strongest French accent. Its weird really.” Giselle admitted

“I understand that though. We’re all Mexican and proud of it. I could eat a burrito everyday of my life and would never complain.” Mike said making her laugh.

“Mexican food is great though.” Giselle said

“So your mom is seriously 100% Cherokee Indian?” Tony asked.

“Yep. Looks just like an older version of Pocahontas.” All the boys laughed out loud.

“Do you have any brothers or sisters?” Jaime asked.

“Yeah. I have two sisters. Juliet, who is 19 and Elizabetha who is 25.” Giselle explained

“Ok. So what do you do?” Vic asked

“I graduated from Nevada State with a degree in English. I want to be a writer. You know, with a newspaper or a website. Anything. I just love to write.” She explained to the boys.

“That’s something you have in common with Vic. He writes a lot too.” Jaime said elbowing Vic. Vic glared at Jaime and Giselle laughed.

“Well writers make the world go round, right Vic?” she said

“Absolutely.” He said with a smile.

“So…I don’t want to be that guy, you know, but how did you meet your ex?” Mike asked.

Giselle knew the question would come up so she wasn’t surprised.

“Long story short. He was a teacher’s assistant in one of my writing classes. He would help me with some assignments and we clicked. Then we started dating. Everything was good the first year but the second was the worst. I don’t know why he started hitting me but he did.” Giselle explained simply

“Why didn’t you leave? You don’t seem like the kind of girl who would let a man abuse her.” Jaime said

“I didn’t think I was either. I mean I wasn’t done with school yet. I knew my family would be disappointed. My best friend in Nevada would’ve been too. Plus he went to anger management classes and it seemed like they were working but one day he really snapped and I ended up in the hospital. After that, I let myself heal for a week and when he left to go to work, I packed up all of my things and I left.” She told them.

“You’re parents didn’t notice anything when they came for your graduation?” Tony asked

“No. He knew they were coming so he refrained from hitting me, I guess.”

“Well I’m just glad you got out. No woman deserves to go through that.” Mike said wrapping his arms around her shoulder.

“Well I’m glad that you guys passed and helped me. If you didn’t I don’t know what would’ve happened to me.” Giselle said gratefully

“Don’t think about it anymore. You’re going to travel the world with us for a few weeks and have the time of your life. I guarantee it.” Jaime said

She nodded as she heard a cell phone ring. She looked over at Tony as he answered. They finished eating as Tony had a conversation on the phone. After about five minutes he hung up.

“So I have good and bad news.” Tony said looking at Giselle. She simply raised her eyebrow silently telling him to continue.

“Our friends found your car and got it opened. But your battery is done for so they couldn’t start it.” He said

“Okay.” She said

“They packed everything in your car in their trailer though. So at least you’ll have your things.” Tony continued

“Yeah. I guess I was due for a new car anyway. It had a good run.” Giselle said making the boys laugh.

“Who are your friends though? Are they in a band too?” Giselle asked

“Yeah they’re in the band Chiodos.” Mike said

“I’ve heard of them. My best friend loves them.” Giselle said

“We should head to the venue though. Load in time is soon.” Vic said standing up. The group threw away their trash and headed back to the RV. Giselle sat down on the couch and Jaime joined her soon after. She noticed Mike hop in the driver’s seat and Vic and Tony started playing a video game.

“So Gizmo,” He said with a smirk, “You’re going to be surrounded by good looking dudes so I’m going to need you to contain yourself.”

Giselle laughed out loud as Tony laughed and Vic rolled his eyes.

“I can contain myself Jaime. I promise I won’t be over everyone.” She said chuckling

“Okay. I’m just giving you a heads up. You’re going to be around men filled with hot fuego.” He said with seriously.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”
