Unbound (The Wild Ride)

((18))

Me and Jonathan had been sitting with Sasha for the past 6 hours.

We've quietly talked from time to time about all the information the doctor has given me.

But other then that, he's just been sitting there holding Sasha's hand and softly talking to her.

He explained to her where she was, who she was with and what he was going to do with her when she woke up.

He told her she needed to hurry up and wake up so he could look into her beautiful baby blue eyes.

He told her stupid jokes that he had just heard and he read her favorite book, Pride and Prejudice, to her.

I looked down at my watch and my eyebrows furrowed again.

"What's wrong?" Jonathan asked.

"No ones been in here to check on Sasha in the past 6 hours. They're supposed to check her progress every 2 hours." I said.

"They must be backed up or short staffed." Jonathan said.

"That doesn't excuse anything. Sasha is just as important if not more. I'll be right back." I said, getting up from my seat.

"Cee, calm down. Stress-free environment, remember?" Jonathan reminded me.

I took in a deep breath and nodded my head.

I walked out to the nurses station and saw that Stacey wasn't anywhere in sight.

'She probably has other rounds to do.' I thought to myself.

The only other nurses I saw was a young looking guy and another lady.

It looked like they were flirting.

My eyes hardened as I walked over to them.

The girl saw me coming and I'm guessing by the look on my face, she understood that I was pissed.

She picked up her clip board and took off down the hall.

The guy looked confused but then he turned and saw me standing there.

His eyes widened and then he looked me up and down.

That made me even more pissed.

"Hello." He said with a cocky smile.

"You work here, right?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm Dean. What's your name?" He asked, holding his hand out to me.

"Why hasn't anyone come to check on Sasha Matthews in room 204?" I asked, my voice rough.

"I have no idea. She's not on my roster." Dean said.

"Well can you figure whose roster she is on? She's supposed to have a nurse checking on her every two hours. It's been six." I said angrily.

"Okay. No reason to get all worked up, darling. I'll check on her right now." He said with a smile.

I opened my mouth to tell him off but then I saw Brian over his shoulder.

He looked pissed.

He obviously heard everything this guy said.

He came up to me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I think you should stick to your job and stop hitting on my girlfriend before I put you in the hospital." Brian threatened in a low voice.

I smiled up at him and Dean looked a little scared.

He picked up his clip board and walked over to Sasha's room with me and Brian trailing behind him.

I gave Brian a kiss.

"I missed you." I whispered.

"Me too baby." He said.

"Jonathan's here." I told him.

"How did he take it when he saw Sasha?" He asked in a soft voice.

"He was upset. Really upset." I said in a sad voice.

"She's gonna be fine, babe." Brian said, hugging me closer.

He pulled me closer and we walked into Sasha's room.

Jonathan was standing up and staring Dean down.

"He's the nurse, J." I explained.

He relaxed his stance a bit and moved to the other side of the bed so the nurse could do what he had to do.

He picked up her charts and read over them.

His eyes widened and he looked up at Sasha.

"Wow." He said.

He looked over at us and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"I'm gonna go and get her some more fluids. Be right back." He said.

He left the room and I felt like throwing something at him.

"I don't like him." Jonathan said.

"Yeah me either." I agreed.

"Where's Stacey?" Brian asked.

"I think she was called to another part of the hospital. She must be tied up." I said.

He nodded in understanding.

Dean came back in the a bunch of IV fluids.

"What are those?" Jonathan asked.

"These two clear bags are fluids to keep her hydrated. This is another bag of morphine that systematically releases it when there's any brain activity that indicated she's in pain." Dean explained.

Jonathan looked at me and I nodded.

Those were all the usual ones that Sasha brought.

I paid attention so no one gave her something she didn't need.

Dean walked up to Sasha and lifted up her gown.

Jonathan immediately stepped forward and pushed it back down.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" He growled.

"I need to check her bandages and make sure they don't need to be redressed." He said calmly.

"Let a female nurse do that." Jonathan said.

"I'm the only nurse on this floor for the moment. So I have to do it." Dean explained.

Jonathan didn't move from his post.

Dean turned to me.

"Why don't you check her bandages. You explain to me what it looks like and I'll decide whether they need to be redressed or not." Dean suggested.

I looked at my brother and nodded.

"All of you get on the other side of the bed." I ordered.

They all moved and I lifted up Sasha's gown, making sure to hold it so none of them could see her.

I gently lifted up the bandages and looked at them.

"There's still some slight bruising across her stomach. All the stitches look okay. They're scabbing a little bit but other then that they look okay." I said, pulling it back down and covering her up with the sheet.

"Well they sound okay for now. When a female nurse is available I'll have her check again." Dean said.

I nodded and moved so Jonathan could sit down next to Sasha again.

Dean moved to the foot of her bed and picked up her charts that were hanging there.

He flipped through the pages, glancing at them.

"Sasha's urine results just came in today. Looks like her system was clear, no drugs or alcohol present which is good." He said.

He looked farther down on the chart and his eyes widened.

"Wow. I'm surprised it survived." Dean said.

My eyes widened in fury.

"Her name isSasha. She's ahumanbeing. She, not it." I yelled back furiously.

"Babe, calm down." Brian said.

He tried to grab a hold of my waist but I moved out of the way.

"I wasn't referring to Sasha." Dean stuttered.

"Then who the fuck where you referring to?" I bellowed.

"The fetus." Dean said.

My mouth dropped open.

"The fetus? What fetus?" Brian asked in shock.

"Her fetus. Her urine results concluded that Sasha is 6 weeks along in her pregnancy." Dean said.

I suddenly felt extremely light headed.

Brian put his arm around my waist to steady me when I started to sway.

"Pregnant?" I said out loud.

The words weren't comprehending in my brain.

It just went in my ear and out the other.

I stayed staring at Dean when I heard a loud bang.

I turned quickly to see Jonathan on the floor.

I ran over to him.

He was out cold and there were beads of sweat all along his forehead.

"Fuck." Brian whispered.

I looked up at Sasha's blank face as she slept.

She has a tiny baby growing inside of her.

"Holy shit." I muttered as tears filled my eyes.
